So I just get phone call this morning and it wasn't good news. It was my grandma saying that one of my project boats has gone missing. It was my buddies rig. I have pictures of it. It is a 1985 starcraft with a walk through windshield. It has a 1986 Mercury 850 model. (85 horse power). It also had a brand new Minn Kota trolling motor just sitting in it, 2 batteries, a new roll of carpet, and about a 80lb snap-on tool box of mine. If you see it please let me know. I was working on it for a friend of mine. He has reported it stolen. It happend either lastnight or this morning.
Well, that sucks.
I doubt it turns up in Georgia but if it does, I'll report it.
I'll keep an eye out on this side of Missouri. Not many Starcrafts like that around so it should stick out like a sore thumb if it's around these parts.
Sorry to hear that hopefully the scum that took it gets caught
Ill keep my eyes open for you
Keep on eye out on the classifieds in your area as well. I've seen it happen before in my area, they steal it and immediately put it up for sale. Sorry to hear the news. Hope you find it.
man that sucks.
I'am so ******* tired of people taking things that DON'T BELONG TO THEM. Sorry to say this but I hope they die thats just how I feel just hope they get hit by a duck in the head and die..SLOW
Hit in the head by a duck...now that is a heck of a way to go. These people live such miserable, disingenuous lives, that I almost feel sorry for them. Not really though. Their punishment will come in due time, and you can rest assured true happiness will never be theirs.
Sorry your boat was stolen, and I hope it is returned. Looks like a great baot that would have provided tons of fun times.

X2
bunch of hobos stealing things that don't blong to them. I hope they get hurt. seriously.
I guarantee they aren't hobos. Aluminum is getting good money these days (ask yourself why Lund is building glass boats) and the current economic climate is like throwing gas on the crime fire.
Local law enforcement knows where to look for the boat.
Other law enforcement agencies in your area also know where to look and finding a boat is something off the radar screen so they wll be interested.
The sad part is that the perks will take the boat to a chop shop and remove the items they can sell.
They will then take the parts to a metal recycle yard for the junk value. If they mix it up with other metal then the recycle people will have no idea the metal from your boat is included in the sale.
I agree with the aforementioned suggestion that you check the classifieds, Craig's List and e-bay for the trolling motor. This may be your best bet on helping law enforcement catching the perks.
One question - did you have a trailer lock on the trailer?
Just wondering.
That sucks big time, sure does look like a lonely location for huge chunk of aluminum. It is hard to believe in small town USA something like that can happen and nobody knows who did it.
I didn't have a trailer lock on the trailer. Like said just above, it's small town USA here. The secluded place that it looks is just on the other side of our machine shop. There is a big house just on the other side about 400 yards off. That's my grandma's.
I don't understand how this crap happens, ballsy people, hope the law finds them first....
It's probably someone you guys know . Small town america has its rats also.
That was my first thought, I've checked everywhere that I could think that it would be. I notified all the scrap yards within 100 miles. I hope he tries to sell it, we have the title.
MIRACLE!! Boat was found! An older man and two younger women had it stuffed full of car trim and other pot metal crap and was trying to take it into Fort Scott recycling. The scale operator called the police immediatly and they nailed them before they could even unhook it from the truck. The motor was not on the boat, it was at their house inbetween Nevada MO and Fort Scott, KS. Along with a few meth labs... hello jail time!!!!!! Thanks everyone!
Now that's a happy ending!
Not only a happy ending, but because of "damages done to inside of the boat from all the crap, they are making them pay restitution to my buddy. hahahahahaha! Thank you JUSTICE!!
Excellent!
wow that is awesome!

Yea baby!! Score one for the good guys!!!!!
May I suggest you take a trip to the recycle plant with a cold case of beer. Kudos to the heros!!
Awesome! They got what they deserved.
Excellent!
That is great news. I thought you would never see it again. I agree that the scrap yard guy should get a case of beer.
great news. Only bad thing is your bud will prob never see a dime but atleast you got the boat back. Id deff take a 30 pack of the guys fav beer to him.
that sucks hope you find it
About d**n time look there are great people out there I agree a case of beer for them Great people made me smile now that happend
Awesome dude!!! Absolutely awesome!! I would definitely look up that recycling center dude.
I would have thought those guys would just take the metal no questions asked, like vultures. I am glad to see I was wrong. Maybe he is a fisherman, you can take him out for a trip. Send him on here, we'll certainly pick him up.
Sounds like this crew will not be seeing the streets in a while either which is good.
Congrats on getting the boat back. I hope they lock up those low lifes for a long time.
Thanks for the support everyone!
Hey Zell,
Happy endings make me happy.
Great news. Congrats!
I haven't checked this forum recently so I missed this post. Yes, I totally hate it when something that's mine gets stolen. Yes, I totally relate to homicidal impulses. Yes, I am soooooo glad for you that the boat was found. Yes, the meth labs will assure these creeps get serious time. No, I doubt if your friend will see a penny of restitution, but all in all it seems like a better than expected outcome.
Wow, what a great way to start the weekend, ya outta get a news team to do a spot for the scrap yard. I asked ours about that stuff and they said they take drivers license number for everything without exception, and they will call the fuzz for anything that looks too good to be true, like brand new copper or anything that looks better than it should. They said they have a big problem with illegals, they show up with stuff mostly catalytic converters and no drivers license, they get turned away, then the stuff shows up later with somebody else, they get the license number and then call the cops on the idiot that does the drop for them. At least somebody out there is doing their job.
That's how it is here in KY too, new state laws on all that now. We do home improvements for a living and we constantly scrap out old aluminum gutters and siding. They take a picture of us standing beside our truck with the license plate showing, also make us show ID and they xerox a copy of that. Now they require a company letterhead stating that we have authorization to scrap out any metal, even though WE run the company, it's privately owned by just US. There's a ton of regulations that have to be met around here and it's all due to theft of copper and aluminum. Now they're cracking down!!!
I agree, even though I don't drink, give the guy a cold case of beer, or take him fishing, or anything.....just make sure he knows how grateful you are. It's nice to see that you got the boat back. What about the trolling motor, new roll of carpet and 2 batteries that were in it?? They still there??
The carpet was rolled out inside these peoples house.... they can keep it, no thanks...
The trolling motor was still there, but sitting in a little plastic scamp they had, (must not have wanted to junkt he plastic... haha!)
My tools, that actually how the meth labs were discovered. Needless to say they all with take a sulpher bath!
Here is a sad thing, or a good thing depending on how you look at it.
The guy had a warrant for his arrest, (they couldn't tell us what for) and one of the 2 girls had 3 kids living in the house that all this went down in....
So chalk up:
Theft
Criminal tresspassing
Fraud (used a fake license to try and scrap)
Narcotics
Child endangerment
Child Neglect
Child Abbuse
As my old friend elmer fudd says, Good ridence to bad rubbish!!!!
Man,
I also missed this thread. I am glad you were able to get something recovered and the bad guys got caught. 8-) Hats off to the scrap metal operator who had the wisdom to make the call to the police.
That is the second time that Fort Scott, (Galamba Metal) Saved me or one of my buddies.
Back in January I had my demolition derby car stolen from my step-brothers house. It was a 1966 Newport. The bad thing was that it had a fresh rebuilt 350 in it. They saved me on that one too!
Yeh Zel, I missed this one also. You sure do keep things exciting in your neighborhood. Good thing you guys were able to get the word out asap. As they say, "keep on keepin on".

I feel sorry for those children.....but still glad those parents got caught. It's way better for them though, assuming they survived the poisonous vapors from cooking that filth, they still might have blown the house up with them in it!
When I first read this thread I wouldn't have given a nickel in a bet that you'd ever have recovered any of your things you had stolen. So glad to read some good news in something like this.....too often there's no happy ending.
That is great to hear. Its cool how sometimes things work out.
Thanks again all. Finally a happy ending.
Glad it worked out, I kept thinking it was gone forever
Great news..I love when people get what they deserve.
Great news dude, glad you got it back!!!
