Answer: Jonathan, I'm interested in your pork packing. How long did it take to seal each item?
Answer: We packed over 1200 pounds of pork for the family with no issues. Just open the top all the way to allow the heat strips to cool between bags. That’s the only issue we had but was easily resolved once we realized what was going on.

Answer: Will probably melt them too much. You really have to use a bag made for vacuum sealing. I have never tried to use an impulse sealer on mylar. Impulse sealers are more controllable, with a dial to set the heat level to the kind of material. But then you don't get to pull a vacuum.

Answer: You have to be using the kind of vacuum pouch/bag designed for this kind of unit. If you, there is no problem getting it to seal. In fact, it seals quite fabulously with a double heat seal.

Answer: I don't really know but I am UNIMPRESSED with this unit for this price. it's no better than the Costco vacuum sealer. I am actually reminded to see if I can return it. if you're expecting a seal like you get from ribs at the grocery store, forget it.

Answer: Determine the size bag you need. Cut it off the roll. Place one end under the plexiglass with the opening over the void. Press the seL button while pressing the handle to create a seal. When.the seal is being accomplished, it will hold itself down until the seal is complete. Then it will release the seal and the bag is ready to use.
Answer: Good question. The only method I have found is to insert and clamp and hit the vac/seal button then quickly hit the seal button. Otherwise it will just keep vacuuming. The instructions were virtually useless and seemed to be for a different model. It works great and we are very happy with it. Just no way to operate without just poking at buttons until something works.

On the seal setting it will just straight up melt whatever vacuum bag you are trying to seal. If you attempt to do 2 consecutive vac and seals it will also burn through the second bag. I was able to only get some very limited use out of it using pre cut and single side sealed bags as a result. Much cheaper products are available that perform much better.

I returned the first item via Amazon since NutriChef is impossible to reach (even Amazon could not reach them) and the replacement turned on (1st had short in on/off button) but this one does not heat up seal feature. ENOUGH! Returning it and trying another brand. Maybe I just got 2 lemons, but between the lack of customer service from the company and the odds of two defective units I'm done with Nutrichef. We have used this a couple of times since receiving and we are in love! We had purchased a whole ribeye to cut into steaks for summer and the foodsaver did not disappoint. Perfect seal! Recently pulled out a couple of those steaks and you couldn’t even tell they were frozen.

This unit is a complete waste of money and time. don't waste either on this thing. it's not commercial grade suction and in my opinion poorly made and supported. the foam gasket came out almost immediately. i think it is the same stuff you use from home depot for door cracks. not high density whatsoever or even die cut. just weather stripping.
It left as much or more air in the bag as foodsaver at 3x the cost and size of the same. it weighs a ton and has just been a total disappointment. i went to costco and bought a new foodsaver with sousvide setting on it and like magic it's all better. if you want mine, message me i'll sell it to you for cheap.

Phil H : Can’t find seals and the unit broke altogether after a year of moderate use.
Very excited to get this unit. It worked well for awhile then I used it on some moisture containing stuff and got the seals wet and they expanded. This was my error the unit is clearly labeled not to do so. It still kinda worked but you had to push down hard to get to seal. Problem is I could not find replacement seals. I emailed the manufacturer and only got a response after like 6 weeks. In that time the unit stopped working all together. It made it through one alaksa season of fish and game so moderate use. Not at all worth the $300
