Q:
Does this accessory work for the Big green egg 18" Large grill?

Answer: The opening for the Dojoe Classic size is 14.5” wide and 2.75” high at the center. Because of the arc of the top of the opening, the height reduces at the edges to about 2.25”.

Q:
Is this designed to work on a large big green egg?
Answer: Hello, this product is designed to work on Kamado Joe Classic grills.
Answer: It’s designed for an 18” kamado grill. I have a vision grill and it works with it. Note that you will need to purchase one of the heat deflector stones from kamado joe for this to work properly. My heat deflector did not fit properly in the rim. It is designed to have a very close tolerance.
Q:
What size piel fits?
Answer: Easily 12-14 inch. Hard to fit more than one at one time even on smaller size pie. At the right temperature you are cooking a pizza every 4-6 mins anyway.
Answer: I recently purchased a DoJoe for a Big Joe. The opening where the pizza goes is 18.5" wide, it's 3" high at the middle and tappers to about 2-7/8" on the ends.

Q:
Will this fit on a Char Griller Akorn?
Answer: I don't see why not.
Q:
I received mine without heat deflectors but description made it look like the dojoe comes with them. does this product typically come with deflectors?
Answer: No, this does not come with heat deflectors. The unit will come with the pizza stone.
Answer: Unfortunately not. I had the same issue and ended up returning the DoJoe versus spending another $100+ on the deflectors. I’m ordering an Ooni dual fuel instead.
Answer: Mine did not come with deflectors. Used the ones I received with my Kamado Joe
Answer: Mine came with deflectors
Q:
Does this for the classic jo kj23rh?
Answer: Yes, this will fit the Classic Joe.
Answer: This one is for the classic
Answer: I do not know. I have the new Joe, but from what I understand, it should fit all 18 inches.
Q:
Do you have dojo’s to suit the classic joe?
Answer: Of course.
Q:
After you are done cooking pizzas, can you put the coals out or does it burn until all the coals are burnt out?
Answer: After cooking pizzas you can remove this accessory, close the lid and vents and let the coals burn out.
Answer: It tends to burn out all the coals in my experience. The pizza attachment is blazing hot- If you had a pair of gloves you could potentially remove it and close all the vents, that helps with putting out the charcoal.
Answer: I close top & bottom vents, then wrap the opening with tinfoil to block air.
Q:
Can someone explain the difference between the dojoe vs the kamado joe pizza stone? i am trying to decide which to buy
Answer: The dojoe allows for a pizza the oven style and to monitor the pizza as it cooks. The pizza stone helps to distribute heat evenly and remove moisture.
Answer: The DoJo allows you to keep the lid closed while sliding pizza in and out. If you just buy the pizza stone, you’ll lose all the heat when opening the lid. You also won’t be able to see the pizza while it cooks. Each time you peak, you’ll lose heat. Buy the dojo (which comes with a stone)
Answer: The dojoe is the wedge system that allows your grill to act as a pizza oven. It comes with a pizza stone.
Q:
When you say used do you mean it was cooked on and returned?
Answer: The Doe Joe was brand new
Answer: It’s been awhile, but if I remember correctly it hadn’t been used but it was for a gift and the box was beat up pretty badly. I got ahold of the seller and they took care of the problem right a way
Answer: We would recommend following up with the seller as all products sold directly through dealer or retailer will be new.
Q:
Do I have to use the Kamado Joe split deflector or can you get a one piece deflector into place in the bottom?
Answer: This accessory would need a pizza stone and not the deflector.
Answer: The DoJoe comes with a pizza stone, but you also need to add the heat deflectors that come with the KJ grill to ensure your pizza stone doesn't get too hot. The deflectors drop in under the pizza stone. This won't work with a single piece (full circle) heat deflector and needs the two half-moon heat deflectors that KJ sells. If you own a KJ grill, you'll have the heat deflectors already. If you're buying this for another grill, you'll need to also get the KJ heat deflectors.
Q:
Will this fit the original kamado joe big joe? not asking about the bj ii or the bj iii.
Answer: Yes, the Big Joe DoJoe will fit a Big Joe I
Answer: Not big Joe
Q:
when will dojo accessory for kamado joe classic be available?
Q:
Does this fit the classic jo kj23rh?
Answer: This will fit the Classic Joe
Answer: You betcha.
Q:
Will be dojo work with the big green egg
Answer: No, due to the difference in the hinge geometry the egg lid does not line up properly with the top of the DoJoe when closed and leaves a 2” air gap.
Q:
How big of a pizza stone does it come with?
Answer: A classic size, approximately 15" in diameter.
Answer: Depends on the size Kamado Joe grill you have, it will state it in the description too.
Q:
Is there a dojoe for the classic joe?
Answer: The original is built specifically for the classic joe
Q:
Will this fit the large vision grills kamodo (23-1/2” opening)
Answer: Yes. Fits mine.
Answer: No. The circumference is 19”.
Q:
Can you bake chicken wings ond lamb chops?
Answer: The Kamado Joe DoJoe is really designed for pizza at a very high temp. If I were you throw them on the Kamado Joe grill, you can grill or bake them at any temperate just like that.
Answer: The grill will easily bake both. Depending on their thickness, they may fit through the DoJoe opening.
Q:
Can you just use a pizza stone on the clasic iii or do you have to have a pizza iii to make pizzas?
Answer: A pizza stone can be purchased independently and pizza can be made without the DoJoe. Yes, the DoJoe can be used on the Classic III.
Answer: You can absolutely make a delicious pizza with just a pizza stone. You'll want to put your heat deflectors right below your stone so it doesn't get too hot. But the DoJoe does perfect the process.
Q:
Does this come with a pizza peel.? If not what size is the opening for the big joe so I know what size of peel to get. Thanks.
Answer: DoJoe for a Big Joe opening where the pizza goes is 18" wide, it's 3" high at the middle and tappers to about 2-7/8" on the ends.
Answer: no peel. Opening is pretty big -- don't use that as a criteria. Think wood vs metal; goals (smaller peels to rotate, etc). Don't worry about the size of the do-joe
Answer: Pizza peel isn't included. I got the 12" Euro-Design Bamboo Pizza Peel and Pizza Board with Extra Long Handle. (Amazon)
Q:
Does this fit the classic 1? I’ve seen issues where the handle might rest on the DoJoe lip?
Answer: This should properly fit the Classic I
Q:
Does this fit the big joe
Answer: Yes there's a separate one for the classic. BJstands for Big Joe
Answer: Yes it does
Answer: Yes
Q:
I have a pit boss grill that is 24 inches outside diameter. Will the 24 inch DoJoe fit it?
Answer: No
Q:
I have a deep dish pizza pan (ht.--2.5") and am curious of the height of the unit's opening?
Answer: The dimensions of the unit are with 25.06, height 5.87, and depth 22.25.
Answer: DoJoe for a Big Joe opening where the pizza goes is 18" wide, it's 3" high at the middle and tappers to about 2-7/8" on the ends.
Q:
What is the diameter of the Stone?
Answer: The stone on this product has a 15" diameter.
Q:
Why does this need a heat reflector, what does that do?
Answer: It keeps the stone from getting too hot too fast. Without it, your crust will burn before the top cooks.
Q:
What is the outside diameter of the entire ring for the 24" model? Wondering if it will fit my Louisiana grill.
Answer: The outside diameter is 26”.
Answer: I can’t tell you because I bought it for my daughter and I am in NC and she lives in New Jersey
Q:
Will this fit the kamado professional grill?
Answer: Duh.
Q:
How does the Kamado Joe maintain temperature with the dojo opening open all the time
Answer: The front opening of the DoJo where the pizza goes into the grill as well as the top vent and bottom vent still operates pretty well the same. We've been able to maintain 650+ degrees while grilling pizza. Needless to say, it doesn't take much time to grill a pizza at that temp, works awesome. We really enjoy it! Just remember what temperature your grilling at because the grill itself is going to be super hot, we normally use our Kamado Joe to smoke on which is only about 225 degrees so much different to be around while grilling pizza with the DoJo.
Answer: The very top adjustment stays closed to retain the heat in the top of the KJ. The heat flows up around the pizza stones and into the top dome and is then forced out through the pizza (dojo) opening. Amount of burn, heat is controlled by the lower adjustment door.
Answer: Yes, the lid rests on the frame and holds temperature well, like a brick oven.
Answer: Haven't used it yet
Q:
How big is the pizza stone that it comes with?
Answer: The pizza stone that comes with it is 18 inches .
Product reviews of Kamado Joe BJ-DJ DoJoe Big Joe, Black
Ronald P. Scarbel : Awesome Joe Accessory
The DoeJoe is awesome. It is easy to install and remove. Cooks pizza quickly and gives it that pizza oven taste. One recommendation, if you are cooking pizza made from scratch cook your pizza crust a little first before you top it. We tried topping a crust with the crust still doughy and it was a disaster. Had to open the Kamado and scrape everything off the pizza stone. That’s when we started baking the crust for 5 minutes, topping it and then putting it in the DoughJoe. Worked much better and all the rest of the pizzas were perfect.
Debbie M. : Easy to use
Bought for our son as a gift, he had been thinking of building an outdoor pizza oven, thought he could try this out and see how it works, he loves it makes a different pizza every weekend now!!
I am the Egg Man : The maximum pizza diameter you can cook is 14 inches.
Pizza! After 4 uses never going above 650F the coating is flaking off. It doesn't affect the usability. Use a soft brush to get any loose bits off, so it won't end up on your pizza. Still a great buy.
Louis E Hernandez : A Grill & a BOP
Received in perfect condition. It works perfectly, a nice addition for my Komodo Grill

anonymous option : Makes making pizza's easy
I was making Neapolitan Pizza on my Kamado Joe without the DoJoe attachment for several months. I struggled to keep the temperature consistent due to having to open the lid to check on the pizza, or even to just take it out when it was done and put another in to cook. My pizza's were Okay, but the crust left much to be desired. I decided to purchase the DoJoe as a bit of a splurge and I am so glad that i did. The ability for the Kamado Joe to hold a temp (650 for my liking), and to peek into it to assess if the pizza is done yet, make this attachment the perfect choice. Using the heat deflector and the pizza stone configuration allows you to make the perfect crust without burning it. It's as close to having pizza in Italy as you are going to get while still in your backyard! This one is a winner!
Eric : Like it, don’t love it. Not a perfect fit or 100% necessary. But it’s fun.
Love using the oven. I have never cooked pizza before and I figured it out quickly. My biggest complaint is that on the Classic II, the seal between the top lid and the DoeJoe does not sit flush and seems to allow a bit of air in. There is maybe about a 1/4” gap. This has caused some fairy intense and large flames to come through the vent holes on the DoJoe, skyrocketing the temp. I also worry that the fire directly making contact with the felt gaskets will reduce the life of the gaskets.
All-in-all, you can eventually adjust it to the appropriate temp maybe just a little more annoying than I planned though.
Would I recommend this? Try making pizza without it, if you like it and don’t see any issue- then I would say don’t buy this and look into other accessories.
Itsme : Works great. One issue
Works well. Kind of difficult to get setup and I would recommend an extra set of diffuser plates as they are fragile and difficult to get in and out.
Good quality construction and after following some online instructions I was able to get it stable temperature wise. I highly recommend using less charcoal than you’d think and that you buy a pasted Thermometer because the cooking surface was typically about 100 degrees hotter than than the top reading.
Once I got that sorted out, we were able to make great pizzas, breads, even a casserole in a low cast iron dish.
Subtracting one star because it isn’t closeable. You basically waste any extra charcoal left over.

jsoanes : Fabulous Accessory -- A Must Have!
I've wanted to build a Forno oven for years, I just don't have the space for it. The Vision Kamado and DōJoe has filled that void nicely. Not the 900°F the pizzerias in Naples enjoy, but at 650°F nothing gets too lost in translation. Great results at 400°F too. Lump charcoal and a few chunks of hardwood produce a true wood-oven flavor.
The Classic DōJoe works like a charm on my Vision Grill, once I figured out to remove the shock absorber. It's not necessary but you can see in the image that it is an obstacle. Long handle pizza peel and tongs are also a good idea, this thing gets really hot.
As far as quality, it seems well made -- I've used it about 4 times now. If using a Vision Grill make sure you have the heat deflector or you'll be buying a very expensive pizza stone.
Just a guy : Great Pizza... Easy cooking.
I had contemplated , for quite a while, getting the Do-Joe for my Big Joe. The price point had been the only thing that kept me waiting. However, I made the plunge and am happy that I did.
My thoughts, after a few cooks:
Cons: (None of these are show-stoppers) - Weight: The DoJoe, with pizza stone and deflectors, is on the heavy side. Depending on your build and strength it may be awkward to position the DoJoe over your lit coals. - Weight & Heat & Coals: Adding to the above: Once you are done you’ve essentially written off the coals that are remaining in the grill as the DoJoe gets extremely hot and while you may be able to lift it off the grill, the addition of the hot metal adds a bit of a difficulty. - Positioning/fitment: I had the preconceived notion that the DoJoe fit on/in the grill by a lip ring or something that would make centering intuitive. There is no ‘fitting’ ring or guide, other than the clasp at the front which you can hook to the lid. The rest is just eyeballing it to ensure you have it centered on top of the gasket. And yes, there are a multitude of videos and discussions about this on the web… but only if you search for “fitment issues” and all others simply state, “Place on grill”. Just wanted to put that out there if there were others like me who thought this.
Neutral: - Size of DoJoe/storing: Its big, and unless you plan on keeping it on the grill you will need a place to store it. I bought a padded, hvy-duty hook and mounted it in my garage to hang the device when I am not using.
Pros: - Temperature regulation: Easy! Close the top vent and adjust the bottom vent. The DoJoe comes with an “instruction” poster that shows 3 ‘placements’ of the vent for specific temperatures. I’ve tried them and the grill went to those temperatures and stayed for the entirety of the cook. You can clearly adjust the vent to anywhere in between or beyond, as to your liking, but was nice to have for an initial cook. - Ease of use: Couldn’t be easier. Slide the pizza in, wait/watch for the dough to cook/cheese to melt, pull out, and repeat for any other pizzas you may want to cook.
Recommendations/nice to haves: - Pizza Peel: Get one. Wooden, metal, etc… just get one. Need it to place the Pizza and pull it out. Check the thickness of the peel as thinner will allow it to slide under the pizza easier. - Heat Resistant Gloves: Helpful when using the peel, depending on length of handle. And if you want to lift the Do-Joe off the grill to smother the coals for future use. Also good for just about everyother cook with the Kamado Joes - Digital laser thermometer: Used to check the temperature of the Pizza stone before you toss on the pizza. Not a requirement as you can just let the stone heat up for a while… but nice to have if you are more of a perfectionist, gadgetist, they are just fun to play around with.
Final Thought: Glad I finally got this. To this point I had simply cooked pizzas on the Pizza stone in the grill. While I lost a lot of heat every time I opened the lid… it was/is still a viable option and made good pizzas. The DoJoe just took it to a different level for quicker multiple pizza cooks and I foresee some future pizza parties at the house for the kids and their friends.
Wolf : Solving a problem that doesn’t exist, and making it worse
Does not control or hold temperature; very hard to get up to proper heat, and does not heat evenly.
pcs : Works but the design for the deflector plates is flawed
This works well for making pizza but you either need a separate set of deflector plates that you can just leave in it or you will struggle a lot to get the deflector plates in and out - It is very very difficult to get the plates in and worse to get them out.
LoveNature : Converts your Kamado into a great pizza oven.
This fits perfectly on a Kamado Joe grill, the top of the grill seals well on the DoJoe. The only way heat can escape is through the DoJoe's opening (which is true of all pizza ovens). A good set of instructions is included in your purchase, and it explains how to set the vents on your Kamado Joe so that the temperature doesn't drop while your pizza cooks. The cooking process is a bit more cumbersome than just cooking a pizza in the oven, although it should get easier every time you use the DoJoe. The reason to buy the DoJoe is that you definitely get a superior crust with this accessory and the flavor of a wood-fired pizza is hard to beat. You will also want to get yourself a pizza peel to slide the pizza in and out (sprinkle a bit of corn meal on it if your dough tends to stick). My peel is 14" wide and fits into the opening easily (the opening on the DoJoe is 14.5")
Richard P : Pas ce que je m’attendais, mais Ok
Le bracket a fondu, mais a été remplacé sous garantie par Kamado. Bonne compagnie, mais j’aurais aimé un produit plus robuste.
Semco : Don’t buy it refurbished, the stone may be damaged.
I love the product. I bought with “slight cosmetic imperfections” and was rewarded with a 2” chip on the pizza stone. It seems to be working with out having cracked so guess I’ll keep it. Just beware when you buy refurbished.
Heidi Argueta : Great company!!!
The Kamado warranty should be the standard!!!
They are great to work with and whatever they make they stand with the quality an ease to use!! This makes great pizzas too. Just control the temperature and you will enjoy the best pizza ever!!!
SeaBass : Not for Neapolitan style pizza
I love the idea, but was hoping for wood-fired neapolitan style pizza. This will not give you that. Go for a Breville Pizzaiolo or Roccbox or use your money for some other accessories.
Luis Alberto : Pizza party went impressive!
Just cooked 24 pizzas for my baby boy's friends. They have never had so much fun. It took 3 min to get it out and temperature never was less than 650 °F. The DoeJoe really helped achieve this mission. The Kamado is the beast of all grills.
Eric : Like it, don’t love it. Not a perfect fit or 100% necessary. But it’s fun.
Love using the oven. I have never cooked pizza before and I figured it out quickly.
