How do you keep the trap open? It collapses. Theres a red ring and a white ball. How do they work?

Answer: Pull it open with the white ball until it clicks. Attach the string that comes with it to the red ring then attach the other end of the string to the trap for retrieval.

Will this net be missing?

Answer: Welp, I'll say this.. if you set this trap and then leave it, and during the time you left, someone else finds it an wants to keep it, there wont be anyone around to stop them right? Word to the wise... Find a place not so wide out in the open and try to make the cord used to retrieve it, not so obvious. Camouflage it good enough to where nobody else will see it but not so good that you wont be able to find again. that my advice to you! Other than that, its a fantastic tool to acquire free bait!! woo hooo!

Answer: The string is cheap. I lost it the first day and had to fish for it so I suggest that if you order put a heavier duty string on it

Answer: No, I don’t think so. The quality was very bad, not recommend to buy.

Answer: Don't know the exact measurements but this I can tell you: they work. Once they are in there's no escape. Every once in a while we find small turtles inside trying to eat the bait but not a big deal.

Answer: It works well in any water.....if it is legal. It is not legal in freshwater in Florida.

Answer: As he grabbed the white fasteners of the trap net and pulled out the rope,Then pull out the rope. The net will open automatically. Keep pulling out the rope until the lock is closed automatically,Put food in a bag in the middle of a shrimp net and put it in water.

Light weight, yet durable! Used it right away to see which fish were breeding in our pond. It's easy to catch & release!

clayton blankenship : Worth the money for the fun but beware

My likes is that it worked and actually held more then I though it would. About 24 3 inch sun fish and a turtle in one trap.
My dislikes is….there is not an opening to reach in besides the same hole to retrieve your catch. It’s not bottom heavy and therefore lands and rolls upside down. And the final one is the string is so brittle on them that on broke and the white stopper came off and got lost while retrieving it.
So when you get it replace the black string with something stronger, and maybe cut a slit where there is a zipper as there is no other way to get anything in or out besides the holes for the critters.

I was excited about these, the idea is great, they fold up and can be put away in smaller places. The execution is terrible, the netting is thin and cheaply put together, it ripped in multiple places after the first few uses. The plastic pieces that create the umbrella effect also broke very quickly. Both items are not useable anymore (after 3 days of using them). If you get these, use very light bait and treat them gently and you might get a few more uses out of them.

It effectively snared a bunch of small fish and 6 or so crabs BUT there is no way to get them out! There is a fairly small zipper on the side; however, there is netting where one would expect a space. I mean, I guess I can cut it but it’s super annoying.

Awful product. Zipper was sewn onto mesh. No opening at all. Mesh was weak. Would give this a zero if I could. I couldn’t get out anything caught without using scissors or a knife. If only wanted to use this product one time then it’s ok but Don’t waste your money.

The trap seems very well built with one exception, the string that came with it. It seems very thin and flimsy and stiff plastic fiber that could easily come untethered or break. I will be replacing it with it better quality rope before I go tossing this in the water.

Only had this fish trap for a few days but set it out in my pond behind the house and within 30 minutes I have several baby crappie in it so it does work. Seems cheaply made so not sure how long it will hold up... that’s the only reason for 3 star instead of 4. It is a two pack so should hold up for a season or two.

For my use to catch small fish off the pier was great! I dropped it in the water with shrimp inside and caught about 20 small fish in about 45 minutes. My kids love it also, it is very easy to use. Not sure what the zipper is for though?

Daniel : Worked OK on first outing

Used this on a lake to go for cray fish. Worked pretty well, caught quite a few. Biggest problem we had was that the traps are too light and not weighted well, so when we'd toss them out they'd flip upside down. Took quite a bit of messing around to get them flipped back over so they'd work. Thinking of adding some weights to the ends of the legs before we go out next time, see if that helps keep them upright and in place.

Eddie : For the price it’s a ok trap if you don’t have turtles. One turtle will destroy trap.

They will catch bait and turtles. If you have turtles traps won’t last very long. If not they should work fine. The zipper at bottom of trap is to small. Needs to be made of steel and longer.

Really did not even want to give it a star. It is very cheap made and would have to put weights on it to set it down in a current . It got locked at the top sideways and I had to break it to get it unlocked , just such a disappointment for my nephew.

It's nice and light weight, caught a bunch of creek chubs and bluegill with it. How ever the mesh rips easy if your not careful. Seems to work better when lowering and raising vertically but not ideal for trying to pull it in from the bank, that's how it ripped.
