Questions about Pellet Smoker Tube,12"Stainless Steel BBQ Wood Pellet Tube Smoker for Cold/Hot Smoking,5 Hours of Billowing Smoke-for Any Grill or Smoker.Hexagon , Accessories -2 S Shape Hooks,1 Cleaning Brush. (Tube +Hooks +Cleaning brush+Cooking twine)
Q:
Does this tube keep pellets burning if used vertically with a hook?
Answer: Hi Jim
Q:
Does this have caps on both ends to hold in the pellets? The pictures show one opened end ??
Answer: One side is closed. You fill the tube from the open end, light the pellets with the tube standing upright and allow to burn like a candle for about 10 minutes. Blow the flame out, then I prop my open end slightly up with a piece of aluminum. You can still lay the tube completely flat and you will only lose a couple pellets.
Answer: One end is capped and one is open to add the pellets. I lay my tube on its side so I can’t completely fill it up because some will fall out.
Answer: It has one closed end and one opened end to load the pellets.
Answer: It is open on 1 end, once lit and laying on its side it does not loose pellets.
Answer: No, one end is open, but it has a slight lip so my pellets did not fall out at all.
Answer: one end is open to fill tube.
Answer: Just on one end. They work awesome. Buy one you will not be sorry
Answer: Capped only at one end as shown
Q:
Dose it produce heat or just smoke?
Answer: A little heat and smoke. It gets hot enough to burn but not cook. Its primary purpose is to provide flavor thru smoke. But if cold smoking put as far away from food as possible
Answer: Yes it Generates Heat, but it's minor... You could probably Cold Smoke with it, if it was off to the side.
Q:
How do I get the ebooks?
Answer: Through the Amazon mailbox, I have received emails from their company, which is about ebook.
Answer: Hi deborah contreras
Answer: On Amazon Mail after ordder has been shipped
Q:
How would you use for cold smoke. Would the tube still be inside the smoker? If so, that would not be truly cold smoke, right ?
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: The tube would be inside the cold smoker. Depending on the size of the cold smoker, and/or whether the cold smoker had multiple chambers, it may or may not still be cold smoke. For example, the tube does not add significant temperature to my very large smoker or if I used a second chamber for the tube and routed the smoke to a chamber in my small smoker with the meat/cheese...
Answer: Cold smoke means smolder, and not flaming up. It will be burning, red, but no flame. Cold smoke means say less than 300 degrees F.
Q:
Can this tube be damaged from too high a heat on your grill?
Answer: Well, how high is high? When you smoke your temperature should be under 250 degrees so no it wont get damaged, its pretty thick metal and I’m satisfied with it so far.
Answer: It is a light weight metal ( thin), I didn't use over heat, use to infuse smoke flavor into cheese so it wasn't exposed to direct heat only the heat from the flavor pellets. Sorry I couldn't be of more help....
Q:
What is best way to light pellets? Thanks for prompt reply!
Answer:
Answer:
Q:
Can you use this on a gass grill? If so, do you still have to light the chips first?
Answer: I don't have a gas grill, but after many smoking sessions with this and other tools, I'd say it would probably work but do NOT put it over a lit burner. Set it off to the side away from the flames, or on a solid plate above them to shield it and light it per instructions to generate smoke for the cooking chamber - I would get this lit and stabilized before firing up the gas. Depending on the draft inside, you may have to try different locations to keep airflow moving over this smoker tube.
Answer: Hi jillibilli
Answer: Yes you can but you still have to light it first. Make sure it's smoking really well before putting it on your grill.
Answer: Yes and yes. Youtube has some great videos on this
Q:
Can you use a heat gun to ignite the pellets in this device?
Answer: Yes,you can.But it takes about 1 minutes to ignite the pellets in this device. But for the propane torch only takes about 30s to lit it up.
Answer: That would be ideal. I usually start my charcoal then set the closed end on the coals to get it smoking.
Q:
How much in pellets does this smoker use. How long would a 20lbs bag last? How many uses for that size bag?
Answer: Used a 16oz drinking glass to fill the tube it was just over 2 drinking glass fulls as far as weight I can’t help also depends on the brand of pellets/density but each tube will smoke for 4-5 hours depending on pellets used. I use pit boss hickory pellets and I got about 5 hours off one tube plenty of smoke for one cook. Pellets are cheap don’t worry about how much is used worry about quality of what you cook and enjoy.
Answer: That depends on how long you smoke. Here’s what I think, if you totally depend on the smoker for all your grilling, you may find that it lasts about as long as a big bag of charcoal, but if you smoke for several hours at a time it won’t last as long.
Answer: 20lb would last you for a bit! If you fill it up to Smoke it goes About 5 hrs! I used it along with my smoker if I want more smoke! You have to use good Pellets
Answer: Holds less than a half pound of pellets. If used correctly and once pellets ignite it puts out a lot of smoke fir good smoke flavoring. Light it at least 30 minutes before putting your meat in the grill.
Answer: The tube may hold about a 3/4 to a pound of pellets.
Answer: It holds about 3 cups and those can burn upto 5 hours so it should last for awhile
Q:
What is warranty
Answer: I don’t know the warranty but I don’t believe I will have her have to use it. it holds up to heat very very well and puts out if packed right 4 1/2 hours of continuous smoke. So far high heat has not diminished its quality. I believe I will on this product for many years to come.
Answer: Not sure about warranty but I have used my smoke tube probably 20 times so far with no warping or issues.
Answer: Don't need one. It's like $12 and a very good investment. Use mine about 3 times a week for a month and still like new. I mean the coloration is different but it's a smoker....
Answer: It’s stainless steel , if used properly, don’t know how it would go bad .
Q:
Is this reusable or is it a one time use product? Does the metal tarnish from heat?
Answer: It can be reusable
Answer: Can be reused, I did not find fading
Q:
Would this have any impact on fast cooks(i.e. hamburgers/hot dogs)? And can you just fill it up halfway if your grilling a few burgers?
Answer: Yes and Yes .Even a few minutes of smoke will impart flavor.I use smoke on hamburgers often.apply the smoke at the very start of the cook and try to terminate the smoke generation about halfway through or less. You don’t really want smoke applied at the cook or it can make a bad flavor. You can fill the tube halfway but it’s best to fill the open space at the far end with some aluminum foil first,so the pellets stay packed for proper burning and also be easier to light.
Answer: I would fill completely to get the full flavor of the smoke but I dont see why not if want a lighter flavor
Q:
What are the hooks for? Can the smoker tube be hung vertically? If so, is it best to light the pellets from the top, or at the bottom?
Answer: The hooks, I believe are for removing the pellet tube whilst it is still Hot if you need to refill it.
Answer: The hooks are for hanging, if your going to hang it vertically you need to have the opening at the top. I always light min horizontally for about 5 minutes before hanging
Answer: 1. Hanging unit. 2. Yes. One end is closed. 3. I’ve never used it vertically, but probably the bottom. Refer to instructions that come with the unit.
Answer: I've tried it both ways, hanging from hooks and laying flat with essentially the same results, ie great smoke flavor but no smoke ring. Laynig flat seems to last a little longer but who wants to hurry showin off?
Q:
How to used?
Answer: Fill the tube with pellets, light it with a torch lighter, let it burn with flame for 10 minutes, blow it out (it will still smolder),lay it down on the grate or under. It will smolder for about 5 hours when filled full
Answer: Fill with dry wood chips or pellets and hang from grill grate. Light one end and smoke the meat for the time required.
Answer: Fill with pellets, start pellets closet to opening on fire for a few minutes, blow out flames allowing pellets to smolder, and place in smoker.
Q:
So I bought this and I am not sure what I did wrong but all of the pellets set on fire in the tube and they all burned up quickly...
Answer: Light just a pellets on the open side of the tube.once they get going good blow them out so they just smolder. You don’t want the Open Flame to travel down the tube too fast.
Q:
Can you adjust the smoking time (like one hour max for steak/fish/chicken on grill),somehow?
Answer: I use a egg grill and the pellets go out when I close the grill vents to kill the charcoal. If you cannot do that, then the only way to control the smoked duration is to fill the tube fewer pellets.I do not know much or little to use,you will have to experiment.I would start with about 2 inches and adjust up or down the next time based on experience.
Q:
It can smolder for 5 hours ?
Answer: First,to be sure that the pellets is dry,If the pellets get wet,it may probably die away soon in the smoker tube. You can use oven to dry it first.
Answer: It smokes great for 4 solid hours.
Q:
Can you use wood chips instead of pellets?
Answer: That is my plan, although I haven't had the opportunity to use it yet ~~~
Answer: It works well both with pellets and wood chips.Pellets provide a longer burn, but wood chips provide more intense smoke. You can mix these or stack them in the tube to get the type of smoke profile you want.
Answer: You would have to have a constant fire or flame on it to keep it lit. The pellets burn once ignited. My husband has used this in our grill as well as our propane smoker in addition to the chips in the smoker.
Answer: I have not tried wood chips.
Answer: Not sure, we have only used pellets.
Answer: I don't see why not...I haven't tried...
Q:
Is there a maximum temperature you can grill with this?
Answer: Hi dear customer
Q:
One end of the tube is open, is this correct? how do you keep the pellets from falling out? Help please.
Answer: Hello
Answer: Yes, one end is open, the other end is closed. Filling the tube with pellets and lightly packing them in seems to keep them in place. Place the tube in the smoker and use a torch to light it.
Answer: The end is a cap and comes off. Just fill the screen tube, replace the press fit end cap and you are good to go. Your torch will shoot through the side screening and ignite the wood pellets.
Q:
How many times would 20 lbs of chips fill this tube? How many uses does 20lbs give you?
Answer: i would say this holds around three pounds of pellets. i only fill mine up a little under half full, this usually lasts about two hours smoke time. 3lbs each full up would give you six full refills.
Answer: A lot, doesn't take many, we loved ours so much, that we purchased a second one for our smoker at our summer home.
Q:

Q:
how do you light the pellets ?
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: Light pellets with a hand held propane torch.
Answer: Plenty of videos on YouTube on how to use,Please view this instruction video --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XWSBEBzoEs
Q:
How long does the tube last when filled with pellets?
Answer: Dear Suzeiki
Q:
Can this be used directly on charcoals when filled with pellets? Lumps I can toss on directly but pellets will fall thru the grill grates....
Answer: No you do not want to use this directly on lump charcoal when filled with smoker pellets. Smoker pellets will smolder on their own. Adding this tube filled with pellets directly on charcoal will produce high temps and flames. Best to fill with pellets light them once flaming blow flame out and leave on top of grill grate with charcoal below grill grate. Use in conjunction with charcoal yes. Directly on top of charcoal NO!
Answer: fill the tube with pellets and light, once the pellets are burning, blow out and it will smoke. Place on top of grate where the food goes and let the smoke circulate around the food for an hour or if you want to start the charcoal you can let it smoke while he food is cooking. Only works in an enclosed area. Good for cold smoking food.
Answer: I wouldn't recommend it because the briquettes might ruin whatever material the cylinder is made of.
Answer: I use both pellets and soaked hardwoods, The flavor is remarkable but for the "purist" out there, theres not any smoke ring to speak of.
Q:
Can I use the wet, small wood chips ?
Answer: No, you can't use wet wood chips!!! You light the dry pellets and and the smolder which gives you that extra smoke flavor.
Answer: I use only dry wood pellets, sometimes mixed with dry wood chips.
Answer: Not sure how well that would work packing them into tube and lighting them up. Pellets pack in fine. I use a propane burner stand set up to get enough heat to fire up the pellets in the tube. Using the tube really adds a lot of smoke and flavor I believe.
Answer: If you can get them lit so they cam smolder then yes. The pellets are easy and cheap for a smaller bag and a full tube will go for hours.
Answer: as long as they are not dripping water. but it burns slow.
Answer: Yes I have
Product reviews of Pellet Smoker Tube,12"Stainless Steel BBQ Wood Pellet Tube Smoker for Cold/Hot Smoking,5 Hours of Billowing Smoke-for Any Grill or Smoker.Hexagon , Accessories -2 S Shape Hooks,1 Cleaning Brush. (Tube +Hooks +Cleaning brush+Cooking twine)
3G : Flavor enhancer!
Easy to use, cleans up easily. Provides ample amounts of smoke! Last several hours.
winrar : Works as one would hope
The unit works as one would hope. What else can I say but that it performs the duty intended for it to perform. The only thing I'm doing now just adding more characters to the review so that it will look like I have done a rather extensive one. It is at this point that I will stop typing, and in a few moments press the period button.
Yes, this look sufficiently long.
DH9999 : Works great
Easy to start and long lasting. I need to figure out how much to use maybe half for 2 hours of smoking.
Ben Barker : Smokes like a champ!
I have used the tube a few times now and it definitely works. My first time I conducted a side by side comparison of ribs and hands down everyone picked the ribs that were smoked using this pellet smoker tube. I also got close to 6 hours of smoke using the Traeger cherry pellets. I highly recommend this product and my neighbors have all bought or plan to buy to augment their smoke. Great job!
John Kuropchak : Smoker Tube is Great
This smoker tube works really well. I previously. It generates plenty of smoke, stays lit for over for hours, and makes cold smoking salmon and cheese a very simple process.
Dena Spray : It’s a tube that holds burning wood
What can I say, it’s a metal tube that holds Burning wood. Ease-of-use is great, clean up not so easy, the taste is horrible, I tried chewing on the metal but it was tough had a burnt flavor just couldn’t get around that that’s why I only got one star on flavor.
kelvin w. : Get a butane torch!
I love that you can add nice smoked flavor to a charcoal or gas grill. I made the mistake of using this with my Pit boss vertical pellet smoker (4hrs. total) It gave me a smoke ring on some beef/pork ribs that was unbelievable but gave the ribs a slightly tart flavor. I’m glad the family didn’t even notice. I did have to invest in a butane torch to get the pellets started (great excuse to finally buy one).
Kindle Customer : Good when it works
This product worked awesome the first time I used it but it's hard to keep the pellets going at times. And I'm not even sure how the hooks are supposed to work but they're a crap shoot. I will continue to use because I know I can be a working part but it's not always a go.
F. Boyles : Saved me $400+! Now I don’t need to buy a pellet grill. Thx!!
I love my gas grill but missing the flavor and smell of a pellet grill. I was about to buy a pit boss but thought I would try this first. I’m so gladly I did!! I love this smoker tube so much that I bought one for my Dad too.
Tim, Oklahoma : Excelent smoke output
It generated a little more heat than I had hoped, but the smoke quality is spot on. Great for cold smoke. Smoked cheese, and the flavor was amazing. Used apple wood pellets for cheese, for anyone interested.
Brian Bender : Great
This is great if you want to get a little more smoke! Well Smoke about 5hrs off is full
Ralph : Stuff it, burn it, tip ash out
Pellets easily go in; set one end on fire, place under grill grates (or to side), close the lid and delicious smoke adds another layer of flavor to your grilled foods!
Tim, Oklahoma : Excelent smoke output
It generated a little more heat than I had hoped, but the smoke quality is spot on. Great for cold smoke. Smoked cheese, and the flavor was amazing. Used apple wood pellets for cheese, for anyone interested.
Curtis Reinhardt : Excellent product!
I make my own bacon and this allows me to add that applewood flavor with out changing the pellets out on my pellet smoker. Does such a good job I bought two for twice the smoke. I fill mine with wood chips and it lasts probably 3 hours. Love it!
DWS : Works ok but with some effort
Not easy to light/stay lit/no easy way to stop and use unused pellets
narmer2000 : Great value
Great value for the money. Perfect for cold smoking cheese or whatever
Bill : Love it!
Great, no problems. Delivery on time. Easy to use and clean. The cheese came out Super and I also smoked a few pipe bones for my two dogs. It passed their test too.
Brian Bender : Great
This is great if you want to get a little more smoke! Well Smoke about 5hrs off is full
Buster : Best bang for the buck
This one is a little cheaper than some of it's similar competitors and it comes with more accessories. I love that it comes with a brush to clean it out after use and it also has the hangers to support it. Great value.
Amazon Customer : Awesome product to inexpensively smoke your own cheese.
I love this. We had been buying smoked cheese from workmates and friends for $$$ for years, decided to try this. Cut up Cooper cheese, put this and the cheese int eh grill and let it smoke for about 2-3 hours. Excellent flavor, burned perfect, bought and used mixed pellets, easy cleanup. Best $20 I ever spent.
Sergio : great little smoker tube
I was finally able to use my smoker tube now that the weather has cooled. I found that when full of wood chips, not pellets, it lasted about 2-3 hrs. I watched a video on YouTube on how to use it and this helped out immensely. I highly recommend this product!!
DDuncan3 : Sturdy wood burner
Little smaller than it looks on website. Wood chips light easy but burn quicker. Wood pellets take forever to light, but burn longer. Needs to mix wood chips with pellets to sustain for longer cooking (>30 mins). Pretty sturdy. I lit the wood chips with a torch and it didn't warp or discolor. I probably won't need another one for a long while but I would purchase this product again.
Buster : Best bang for the buck

bambam : works GREAT!
i bought Traeger Mesquite pellets, light it with torch and let burn about 30-60 seconds, then blow out. Set it smoking on the middle of the grill grates with only the outside burners on low and total temp of about 200-250. Sit meat on warming rack and if your rack swings to the center when you close the lid, perfect. If your warming rack is stationary at the back, slide the tube underneath it toward the back so the smoke rise up to the meat. After meat reaches desired internal temp (use meat thermometer!!), take meat and smoke tube off the grill, turn on all burners getting the grill as hot as possible, put the meat back on the grill to sear it for a minute or three on each side, depending on the type of protein being grilled. This is called Reverse Sear! I have grilled several whole tenderloins this way and when i slice the Chateaubriand portion the color red is consistent from edge to edge except for the sear ring. AWESOME. This tube works for everything, chicken, pork roast, sausage, hamburger, etc. 1/2 tube full last an hour for me. Don't fill but a 1/4 or so for burgers or chicken or single steaks. It will still be smoking when your meat is cooked.
boothm55 : Love it
'It worked great for cold smoking cheese. Smoke lasted about 4 1/2 hours
Fossilnerd : Exactly what I needed for smoke!
The tube did exactly what I wanted. I needed more smoke well cooking on my Traeger grill. It’s been perfect. Up to five hours of smoke. Would highly recommend!
Karen Monroe : Easy to use and smokes well
Easy to use. Works great. Is also good for a beginner smoker. Adds more flavor to your meat. Make well for the money.
Berger Evan : Works great, easy to use
Follow the way the seller said, and I was very satisfied with the effect. make sure your pellets are dry (microwave them for 30 seconds before use). Tips: You can light both ends if needed for more smoke but half the amount of smoking time.

daTrainer's : Its a smoke tube...
But more than just being a smoke tube, I made some awesome smoked cheese with it. This week our son will make smoked devil eggs and more cheese. I also plan to make smoked ice cubes... yeah smoked ice cubes for a glass of bourbon.
If you have a gas grill, this will elevate your grilling and give some smoked flavor to your BBQ. If you're using a gas grill, happy Mothers day, your cooking with gas ;).
boothm55 : Love it

Kindle Customer : Great Option For More Smoke
Got this tube and a torch and it works great!
Ralph : Stuff it, burn it, tip ash out
Pellets easily go in; set one end on fire, place under grill grates (or to side), close the lid and delicious smoke adds another layer of flavor to your grilled foods!
john armstrong : Plenty of smoke.
Gave this a test run with nothing cooking just to see how long it would burn for. Got a great deal on Pit Boss Competition pellets at Walmart, $15 for 40 pounds, unheard of. Filled my tube and put a charcoal lighting tab in the top. fired it up, it took forever for the lighter tab to burn out, 20 minutes. From then on it was all pellet power. It burned for more than 4 hours and was pouring out smoke. a walk outside and the smell of a BBQ pit was in the air. i hung it in my gas grill with nothing in it and no burners lit. From my chair while watching football I could see waves of smoke coming from the grill. By itself, it brought the temp of the grill to over 100 degrees on a 48 degree day. Think I have finally figured out a way to get my gas vertical smoker to work at a low enough temperature to dry the casings on my sausages and kielbasa properly for the first hour of smoking. I am going to try to make some smoked cheese just using the pellet tube. i was really impressed with the amount of smoke and the length of the full tube burn. And the ability to bring heat to the picture also. The perfect combination. 4 hours of smoke is enough for most cooks because too much is not good as it can be overpowering on meats. During the winter I will be trying different amounts in the tube to see what the fill level I will use to smoke more delicate cuts of meats. A turkey breast will not need as much as a brisket or ribs. Going to make a chart for the burn times as I try different amounts in the tube. No longer will I be using wood chips in my smoker, they are so hit and miss with if they decide to give out any smoke at low temperatures. Most that I have used seem to be dumped without even getting to the smoldering stage. Going to have some fun experimenting with this product.
John : Cold Smoking Cheese
I purchased this to smoke cheese. You have to COLD smoke cheese so you purchase apple pellets, put them into this tube, light it and put it and your cheeses into you barbecue with the barbecue not lit for 3 to 4 hours. It does a fantastic job. If you look on the internet you can use this to COLD some whatever you want.
kelvin w. : Get a butane torch!

Shanandoa Upshaw : Amazing little gadget for cold smoking cheese!
I originally bought this to add supplemental smoke to my Traeger, but I've used it more for cold smoking cheese, which it is perfect for. I had an old Masterbuilt Pro propane smoker that I had used so much, the bottom and chip tray disintegrated. After the first time using this amazing little thing, I decided to re-purpose the smoker as a cold smoker. As you can see by the pictures, it works very well for that. The cheese turns out perfect every time! I really can't believe the amount of smoke this little gadget puts out! I had thought I would need two for a smoker this large, but boy was I wrong; two would be overkill. In the re-purposed smoker, I get upwards of six hours of smoke. In a gas grill and my Traeger I got approximately four hours. I use Pit Boss brand pellets in it and they work well. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase and very happy I was able to find a use for my dead smoker!

Peter Smith : Wonderful Smoke Flavor
Works really well. I just put a little lighter fluid on the pellets to get it started and then hours of smoke. Sometimes I have to put it out.
Curtis Reinhardt : Excellent product!
I make my own bacon and this allows me to add that applewood flavor with out changing the pellets out on my pellet smoker. Does such a good job I bought two for twice the smoke. I fill mine with wood chips and it lasts probably 3 hours. Love it!
boothm55 : Love it
'It worked great for cold smoking cheese. Smoke lasted about 4 1/2 hours
POCO : Great Accessory!
One problem! Now every time I grill, I want to smoke! Easy, little learning curve with fun and excitement and flavor....Oh my, the flavor! It works beautifully. The cost vs benefit is of the charts. Just try it, you'll love it!
TN : What I was looking for
Product was as described and worked fairly well. The only issue was accessing the pellets as the chamber is small but you just have to buy a torch and be patient for about ten minutes with trying to light and retuning after it’s first lit to light it a few times. Great product though. Did the job for me and would recommend it.
Only used once so far for smoking cheese. Flavor was excellent. Comes with a brush for easy cleaning.

Rabble Ruffian : Cheap quality. Works. Not stainless steel.
It smokes good. Quality is sketchy. I don't believe that it's stainless steel.
David Barber : Seems to do the job
This is my first smoker tube so really dont have anything to compare it to. Does great job, just as described.
Kenne : Works great for extra smoke.
Works great for adding extra smoke in the pellet grill. I use it for my pit boss pro series. I use a combination of actual wood and pellets and this thing smokes for 2-3 hrs I’d guess. Only down fall in my opinion is I wish the end you fill came with a cap.
bcron : Works
Works great. Adds tons of smoke to my pellet grill and when we travel and stay in condo that has gas grill gives great smoke flavor.
I also use it on my gas grill at home when I use the rotisserie.
A little hard to light unless you have a propane torch. A full load smokes for about 4 to 5 hours.
