I really enjoy using this product and have caught many a bluegill with it. The only negative thing I have to say about it would be that I don't think a person could catch a large fish with this but I knew that before buying it.

Standing in waist deep water i threw on a school of finger mullet. They were swimming at the surface; not a foot underwater, but the surface. I threw directly on top of them from about 7 feet away. bullseye. They easily swam down and pushed on while i watched my net slowly sink to the bottom.

To catch whitebait/greenbacks/threadfin..(you wont believe this)..i chum the water with a can of catfood or whatever, and when the bait shows up, I then get out of the boat and walk straight thru the bait, while kicking up as much sand as possible.
Why? So they cant see the net im about to throw when i turn back around..and still i get only the slowest bait.
Go ahead and order it, but youll see.
Ive never seen anything sink so slow..ive been throwing castnets since the early 90s.
The net is quality, perhaps there are people out there who dont fish water thats clear. Maybe it works for them but for getting bait around florida, this isnt the net.
The weights appear to be rubber or something soft. perhaps they should be a bit heavier for this net?

Arrived in decent time from order. I removed from the plastic box but didn't unwrap. It took me many times contacting our game department and marine fisheries to finally get the answer that I cannot play with this on the water unless I get a commercial fishing license, and that requires all sorts of reporting. I got this not for fishing, but to practice a tai chi move called "fisherman casts the net"... however, I cannot use it on the water. It took me about 6 weeks and many emails/phone calls to get somebody who actually knew the answer. And now it's too late to return, so I'm not super happy about this.

I really like this 6' cast net. I'm very new to throwing a cast net and this one is pretty easy to throw even for a novice like me. Maybe the instructions that come with it are great, but I just couldn't get it figured out based on the manufacturers instructions. So I checked on YouTube and found some really good tutorials on throwing a 6' cast net. Within a few casts I got fairly proficient with it. I think the 2 best things on this net is that number one there's only 3/4 pounds of weights per foot so it's not as heavy as some others. The other thing I like is the comfort cuff that you slip over your hand and wear on your wrist. The name comfort cuff is very accurate since it is very comfortable. Check the laws in your state to verify if it is legal to use one of these nets. Where I live in Michigan it's only legal to use them in the Great Lakes, but not in any of the channels and lakes that are connected to the Great Lakes or any other inland waters. When it's time to replace my net I will buy another one of this brand.

It is easy to throw and we got a buncha small bait fish with this buutt the holes are so small that all the smaller bait got stuck in the netting. Half of what we were catching died cause there was no real easy way to get them out. So its a decent net just for bigger bait.

Used during the shrimp run in NC. Was able to catch enough shrimp for a couple meals, along with tons of fingerling mullet, pinfish, and even an adult mullet. Cheapest net I can find, but definitely of quality. 4.5' radius means it's not a toy, but still easy to learn and use. Would highly recommend.
