Do they have a notch for easy tear?
Answer: Purchased 09/25/2020 (USA). The 200-pack 8" x 12" bags do have an "easy-tear" notch, located, on one side, about 2 inches from the FACTORY-SEALED end (not the open end that you manually seal). The (semi-circular) notch does make it very very easy to tear, especially once you clear the factory-sealed edge. As others have noted, this bag is actually very difficult to tear, but the notch makes it very easy. Note: this notch makes me suspect that if there's any slight tear, rip or cut damage to any portion of the factory-sealed edge, that edge is going to keep ripping open with any handling.

Anyone else notice some of the seals failing in the freezer after a while? I have several that looked good at Sealing and then lost the seal after .
Answer: Seems to be inherent within the product. Every brand that I have used does this. I to double seal and try not to get any moisture in the seal. One thing to remember is when frozen and moved around in freezer the bag is easily damaged. I found this especially true when freezing items with sharp bones like porterhouse. The bone hit hard surface and cuts through the bag.
Answer: I've used hundreds of these bags without any problems, I will tell you that these bags are thick, 3.5 mills/4mills on each side. They require a really good vacuum sealer. I use Weston and it's great, has a great sealing bar that heats these thick bags perfectly...

These would be a great value IF they worked. They have tiny little pinpoint dots on the inside of the bags to allow the air to pull out during the vacuum. I tried three bags with the same result. It pulled the easy air along the outside but none of the areas over the meat itself, leaving bubbles of air everywhere. I ended up opeing them and resealing in another brand. Lesson learned.

I find that if any moisture is sucked out of whatever I an sealing into the tray my sealer does not always seal well. I think it is because there is very little volume in the embossing patter to retain moisture. Never had that problem with the expensive bags. I now make it a practice to seal again in a different place and have had good luck with this procedure. Considering the price, this is a small inconvenience. I will buy again.

The sealer offers the 'tear here' packaging, but I feel like it's on the wrong side. It is located on the side that's pre-sealed (where there food will usually be), creating a mess when the package is opened. I wish it was located on the other side, usually there is more room on the side that needs to be sealed. But I'm not the designer.

Would absolutely buy these again.

A day later the open ends on all the top of the stack had curled inward and made it impossible to insert into food saver to seal. Cut an inch off and within a couple minutes did the same. As I read some other reviews I realized that the problem with my FoodSaver is that these bags are probably old. They will not work. Now I have all these bags that I can't use, except for maybe cleaning out the cat litter box. So I purchased the real deal from the FoodSaver website. You just don't know how old the bags are that are sold on amazon. Had no problem with the bags that came with the unit.

These bags are perfect for all of your storing needs. Whether it's fish, chicken, or beef these bags hold up great. Even for storing herbs they're great. I advise though you dump a whole jar of basil, sage, or any other seasoning in there otherwise you'll have a lot of your seasoning sticking to the bag. I'll buy these again.

The 8"x12" size is convenient for most animal parts. I cut some of the bags in half to create two smaller bags (8"x6") for little things like tenders. Since I have to butcher the whole animal all at once, these need to keep a good seal for up to three years in my freezer. I have had a very small percentage fail during that time, and I chalk that up to wear on the bags when getting moved around in the freezer. I have used other brands and find that these are no more prone to abrasion leaks than the others, and less than some, including the commercial grade bags my former butcher used. If I am sealing something with exposed cut bone (like a bone-in chop), I wrap the piece in a piece of plastic deli wrap first, as a protective layer.

Just received. Lifted the package out of the box and all the bags fell to the floor. The package was was only sealed on three sides. There is a flap which should be lifted to remove bags, but one full side of the package hadn’t been sealed closed. All the bags which I planned on using for food storage were all over the floor. I also cut several of the bags in two because they are pretty big for what I needed. So that nearly doubled the amount of packages available.

This was a good buy. I would say, however, that one out of about 10 vacuum packs isn’t quite right. Could be the bags, could be what we’re doing. They aren’t quite the same as what we usually get. The mil is right, the sealing seems right, I’m just not sure they are quite the same quality. That being said, I would probably still purchase them again. It’s still a good price, and only one out of ten being a questionable seal is still ok with me. Do with that what you will.

I was skeptical when I saw these online but I gave them a try anyway. OMG! They are awesome. No more needing to make a bag first as I had to do when I purchased the Food Saver brand rolls (Saves a lot of money $$ too). Saves time and so much easier to use. Works great even with my 10 year old Food Saver machine.

These would be a great value IF they worked. They have tiny little pinpoint dots on the inside of the bags to allow the air to pull out during the vacuum. I tried three bags with the same result. It pulled the easy air along the outside but none of the areas over the meat itself, leaving bubbles of air everywhere. I ended up opeing them and resealing in another brand. Lesson learned.
