Questions about PLUSINNO Fly Fishing Net Fish Landing Net, Trout Bass Net Soft Rubber Mesh Catch and Release Net
Q:
Is this net strong enough for 11-12 lb fish ?
Answer: Yes, of course. If you lift the fish with the net handle straight up
Q:
What is the length when it is folded down?
Answer: 17 incher length,I hope this helps.
Q:
how do you extend the handle?
Answer: The handle does not extend. It can fold but does not extend. If it did extend this would be a fantastic net! Still really good purchase.
Answer: There's a little button that you push that releases the handle. The handle doesn't extend, it unfolds.
Answer: Once you flip the basket up the whole thing, net and handle is 28".
Answer: it doesn't have a extended handle its a good length to scoop the fish up
Answer: You can't. It just folds and unfolds but it has a pretty good handle length fur shore netting and more then enough for wading.
Answer: It unfolds
Q:
It doesn't say anwhere what material the handle is made out of? What is it and is it study?
Answer: The handle is metal. It has a little give at the joint, but I have landed some fish up to about five pounds without any trouble.
Q:
Would this work to net a crab?
Answer: It should work if the crab isnt small
Answer: Yes it should
Q:
Is it good for crabbing
Answer: No, too small for Dungeness
Q:
It doesn't say anwhere what material the handle is made out of? What is it and is it sturdy?
Answer: I’m not entirely sure exactly what the handle is made from but it is certainly metal and is stable. This net has been nothing but good to me so far!
Q:
Will this net comfortably work for 22" plus trout?
Answer: With careful handling it will. I landed a 26" but it was hanging out a touch. Still a great net and worked like a champ.
Answer: No. I like the net very much. But I think 18" to nineteen is about the max.
Answer: I had no trouble with trout that large.
Answer: Jesus, can I come fishing with you??? But yes it probably will. I would like to know where you are catching it that big. That’s what we fish
Q:
would these nets fit into backpack or day pack?
Answer: Would obviously depend on the size. I could squeeze it into mine but I found it easier to strap on the outside. The edges of the hoop/net are wide enough to get a strap through and since it folds the handle isn't sticking way out.
Q:
Is the whole thing metal
Answer: Yes it's all metal the handle has some plastic on it it's a good net for kayaking works good
Answer: No..folding mechanism plastic....I think the rest is aluminum....nice net that folds down to half size...
Answer: Its all plastic
Answer: yes
Answer: Yes
Q:
What is the diameter of the handle tubing? I'm looking for the tube structure width not the foam or rubber grip on top of it. grip
Answer: 3/4 inch aluminum is the core tube
Answer: It is just under 1"....maybe 0.75 to 0.80 inches best i can tell/measure.
Answer: It is 0.810".
Answer: 20mm
Q:
Is the net strong enough?
Answer: Hi mate,
Answer: Strong enough for what?
Q:
How would this net work for larger fish?
Answer: Hi mate,
Answer: We got this net to use in a koi pond. It works well for that. It's sturdy and comfortable on the hand.
Q:
To Manufacture...Will this be back in stock soon?
Answer: No I had my own
Q:
Does this net have a leash?
Answer: There’s no leash, but it’s easy to add one.
Answer: No I had my own
Q:
Can I get a new carabiner and magnet for this net? Carabiner not spring loaded and fell in the stream a couple of times. Lost it after the 3rd time.
Answer: I have not had that problem. Home Depot sells generic carbiners you might check and see if they have one that would work. Otherwise you would have to contact the manufacturer for replacement parts.
Q:
Will this handle catfish 20lbs or more?
Answer: No, the net is too shallow for a 20lb fish
Answer: Not really. This is fly fishing trout net. I put rainbows at 20 inches or so in it and would work for some smallmouth and smaller largemouth bass. Too small for what you are wanting to do. You need more of a regular landing net.
Answer: I don't fish for fish that big. But trying to imagine a 20 lb cat in it, I don't think it would work very well. Although it is a well made net and very user friendly. I think I would direct that question to the manufacturer or wait and see if anyone fishing for those big fish are using this net, which seems unlikely.
Answer: I would look for something bigger.
Answer: Doubtful
Q:
Does this float?
Answer: Nope, doesn’t float. The lighter net is a quality plastic that would probably float on its own, but the frame would not float.
Q:
Can you use this for catching baitfish?
Answer: They would be pretty large bait. The holes are about an inch across
Answer: Yes, you can if you're quick enough.
Q:
Could this land a 30 in Salmon in river?
Answer: Ha not a chance! Love this net for trout. 18” I was a bit worried about jumping out to give you an idea.
Q:
was this magnetic clip issue fixed? Will this work for river wading in upstate ny?
Answer: It works and I think it’s a above average net. It’s cool to have a rustic natural wooden one but this one is pretty damn sweet too. I use for wading on the Madison river in ennis. Built strong and that magnet is pretty strong too
Answer: Not sure what magnetic clip issue you’re referring to but this net is awesome. It would work great for fly fishing but might be a little bulkier than some other fly fishing nets. I use it in my kayak.
Answer: I did not know there was an issue with the magnetic clip. My magnetic clip works fine.
Answer: I have not had any problems with mine.
Q:
how long is the handle?
Answer: It is about 12''. it's long enough to help you when you're fishing.
Q:
How strong in pull pounds is the magnet?
Answer: I don't know in pull pounds. But the magnet has worked well for me.
Answer: Mine is around 8 or 9 lbs. I can lift a 7.5 lb weight but it breaks when trying to lift a 10 lb weight.
Answer: never fished in my life- never ordered this product- no clue why I am on the list for people to ask me questions!
Q:
Does It come with a pull out string With sturdy carabiner ?
Answer: It has a carabiner, no string. The biner is backed up with a strong magnet that allows it it to detach from the handle.
Q:
Would the net be fine enough to catch small (1-1.5 inch) minnows?
Answer: Yes dear, you can use it to catch small minnows.
Q:
Can this be used in salt water without corrosion?
Answer: I believe it is made out of aluminum so should be fine in salt water.
Answer: Yes. This net is great for salt or freshwater.
Q:
what is the depth of the net?
Answer: The depth of the fly fishing net is: 10"
Q:
How do you fold the fishing net once opened?
Answer: On the pole section of the handle it tightens so when you extend it or push it back. The net has a lever you pull with two fingers so you can fold it down or put it up.
Answer: On the pole section of the handle it tightens so when you extend it or push it back. The net has a lever you pull with two fingers so you can fold it down or put it up.
Q:
Would this be good for 6 to 8 lb largemouth bass?
Answer: Yes
Q:
Does the rod for the net also collapse, or is it always in the shape of an oval even when "folded"? Will the whole thing collapse into a narrow space?
Answer: Only the handle folds. Good news is it makes for a quick deploy. It just just a flip of the wrist and the net is read to use.
Q:
What is the diameter of the handle tubing?
Answer: 20mm
Q:
Can the hoop be disconnected to replace the net?
Answer: No
Q:
Could this be good for sheeps head , redfish and trout in saltwater?
Answer: Hello, it is okay be used in saltwater.

Answer: Yes,dear.this fishing net will help you a lot when you're fishing.
Q:
In what Country is it Made?
Answer: China
Q:
Is the netting material such that hooks do not become entangled in it?
Answer: The hooks will not get tangled and this net the net is rubber
Answer: I fish from a pontoon boat and it is really important to me to get the flys out of the fish and out of the net without hassle. This net is really made to do just that. Best net I own.
Answer: Correct, it's a rubber net so hooks don't get caught up in it.
Answer: Yes. This is the exact reason I purchased this. Couldn’t be happier and never had a hook stuck, treble or otherwise. Only wish the handle telescoped but I can manage in my small boat.
Answer: I would say it was decent in that aspect yes. The problem is if you rely on the magnet to keep it connected to you, you may be disappointed.
Q:
How much does it weigh?
Answer: I don't have an exact weight, but it is very light. Maybe in the area of one pound.
Answer: It weights 0.95 lb, not enough to worry about.
Answer: Less than pound, 427 grams.
Q:
I just received this landing net and I am very pleased with it. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement net for it in the future if needed?
Answer: Hi mate,
Product reviews of PLUSINNO Fly Fishing Net Fish Landing Net, Trout Bass Net Soft Rubber Mesh Catch and Release Net
R. Dumont : Great for smaller boat fishing
Perfect size for fishing from kayak or mini-pontoon boat
Thomas : Great quality net, especially for price
Little bit on the heavier size but isn’t a problem seems very sturdy, biggest fish in it was 5 pounds and it did fine. The rubber is better for the fish’s skin then the string type nets (traditional), and also a bonus, lures never get stuck in it like the traditional nets. Great buy it looks like the expensive wooden fly fishing ones but isn’t and is cheap! Also, the handle folds up for easy storage, on a boat or attaching to a backpack etc.
Lynnette : Compact yet Sturdy
This fishnet is perfect for Lake fishing.
I folded mine in half and put it in my backpack easily and hiked into my favorite fishing hole, and put it to the test when my fishing buddy caught a 14” rainbow. The net is very sturdy, and the fish had plenty of room within the net so it was unharmed and was easily released no worse for wear.
If you are looking for a quality, light weight net, this is it.
Anthony White : Does what it's supposed to do
Netted pike, bass, bowfin, drum, and catfish with the net this summer.
Fits right behind my seat in the yak for easy access and has not failed me yet.
I would purchase again.
D.E. : Better than expected
Perfect. Even like the clip to hang on my belt while walking through the thick.
R. Cosgrove : Smooth netting and strong pattern
I did not use this net because I returned it, I needed a larger one, but it seemed very durable and well made. The netting was seamless and smooth with a strong pattern. Actually, I almost kept it & exchanged the other, larger net because of the quality of this net was far superior. But I needed a deeper one for my Koi. I also really liked the folding option in this
Made_N_Michigan : Make sure you get the right size net for the right size fish ????♂️
Too small for medium to large fish. I was able to land a 10.6# steelhead but I lost 3 others because I chose the wrong net
Evert : Light, Sturdy, and Well made!
Overall it is a well made net. The rubber netting does not harm the fish, and is sturdy enough to hold good size fish. The lightweight construction is strong and durable, and the folding mechanism works very well. The folding allows the net to fit in packs, bags, or in a smaller size for storage at home. I also like that you can remove the magnetic carabiner and change the setup to better suit your needs. The net size is also perfect, not to deep and not to shallow.
I will update after catching more fish, but first impressions are 5/5!
Davis, Shane E. : Perfect for needs.
This was one of the few folding rubber nets. I use it kayak fishing. I know it says fly fishing but it is good to go. I added a PVC handle. I would recommend this item.
AL Beek : A little bit small but quality net
I bought this for Kayak fishing and I find to be too short for what I need it for. Its very light, sturdy, and I really like the silicone netting. Hooks to not get as tangled in it. This would be really good for fly fishing or creek bank fishing, but a little short for me.
Justin Lai : Rubber Foldable Net
The net arrived! Attached some photos of it.
Here is my initial take on the net (I will update it when I get a chance to land a fish) :
The net came very well packed and taped up. After getting it out of the plastic what I was left with is in the pictures. The net feels like a soft rubber that won't scratch up the fish on retrieval it feels like a silicone phone case or the silicon spatulas. I found that it has a plastic smell but I'm sure that's because it hasn't been used yet. The handle feels a little flimsy, but it locks fine when it's opened. The net doesn't close itself and has a "button" that you slide down to pop it off the net. For now I'm a little skeptical of how it would flip fish but I'm excited to see!
Mad'shammy : Convenient and Sturdy!!
This net is so convenient. You can fold it up neatly when you aren't using it, and that is so important when you have a small boat. Very sturdy, even a very large catfish can't break it. I was worried when I ordered it but it's been one of the best purchases I have made.
Amazon Customer : Arrived quickly and was nicely packaged. The net is handy for bank fishing ...
Arrived quickly and was nicely packaged. The net is handy for bank fishing because it has a carbiner clip and also a clip for your belt. I fished a couple hours today with it hanging off my belt and I didn't even notice it was there. It's suitable for Bass, Sunfish, Trout and such up to about 5 pounds. I will put it to the test with some larger catfish in coming days.
Amazon Customer : I really appreciate the belt clip
The net is as advertised. The rubber is nice and your hooks don't get tangled in it. I carry the net folded and hung on my wading belt. The belt clip on the handle of the net is pointing the right way to allow me to do this. Most fly fishing nets do not have a belt clip like this, most nets only have the hook at the end. The reason the belt clip is nice is because I prefer not to wear my fly net on my back like some people do. If you wear your net on your waste, it is easier to reach but it gets tangled up in your fly line. Because this net folds up and I can use the belt clip, it keeps the net much higher and helps prevent me from tangling it in my fly line.
Michael : Don't use for wading in rivers.
I liked the net but the magnet that connects to the clip is too weak. First time out I reached for the net to land a 27" Steelhead but the net was gone. There is nowhere to attach a tether either. The river flow was relatively low but enough to take the net away. I still got my fish by landing it on the bank though.
Crystal : Magnet/clip isn't good
Loved the net but whatever you do don't attach it to yourselfby the clip. The magnet isn't strong enough. My son and I both lost ours on our first trip out...... *update* customer service contacted me after my review and sent us new nets. I'm moving my stars up to 3 for that reason. If we have better luck one we have finished with them, I'll update again.
El Dub : Perfect for Kayaks
I like that this is an affordable, foldable net with soft plastic.
Some like long handled nets, and that's ok, but I fish primarily off my kayak, and I need a shorter handle.
This net is the perfect balance of size and function and materials.
GG. : Best value and quality for the money.
This net is great. The magnet is strong and I haven’t knocked the net off accidentally yet. It is sturdy and lightweight. When folded closed the net doesn’t have anything to keep it closed so it always opens. However, it isn’t a very long net so it isn’t much of a problem to carry it opened. The net does lock open and is sturdy for pulling a good sized fish out of the water.
Billsreview : Good net. More Fish
Strong rubber net. Hooks don’t get stuck. Important for fast fishing. Strong magnet for quick release.
jokester2 : lost it first use! (But they replaced it)
Net was sweet. the magnet that holds the clip to the net was not that strong.... first time i used the net, belly boating, it got caught on some weeds and it became disconnected from the clip (which I had foolishly used to secure it to my boat) now the net is sitting at the bottom of the lake... (Update: recently the company reached out to me and offered to replace the net. I just received a new net in the mail! The new net seems quality like the first one. However, the magnet, may or may not be any stonger.... Regardless I look forward to using it. and I fully support the company for standing behind their product. Five stars for Plusinno's customer service. I just will not rely on the clip in the future)
D.E. : Better than expected
Perfect. Even like the clip to hang on my belt while walking through the thick.
What the Heck : Rubber net is key
Was just what I was looking for to attach to waders belt to corral those bigger fish on the river.
Rubber netting is key, to keep from treble hooks getting snagged when corraling the fish.
Donny : Great compact net for Kayak or backpacking fishing trips
net is great size for my fishing back pack for land fishing and awesome for my Kayak. fits perfect without being in my way fishing. was able to net 4lb bass easy! metal frame is light and strong. holes in net are a lil small but hooks come off rubber pretty easy. I replaced my larger slide handle net and glad I Did
M. Marvel : Great value
I use this while kayak fishing. It works well for what I need it for. The handle extension locks in place well. It seems to be pretty durable as I’ve had a few home caught in it and it has not torn or came apart. Great value for the price. Would buy again.
Devin Ward : I would buy it for any fishing friend.
Great net, Lands fish, flip-locking. It also has a magnet on the handle for quick and easy use. With a fish on line there is no struggle to get the net and land the fish. Has made my fishing friend jealous at how easy it is to use. Strongly recommended for stream/river anglers. Handles at least 5lb rainbow trout. Might make it up to 10lbs but you will be pushing the size of the net. It also holds small fish (5‐7") without letting them fall through the net.
angela williams : Great Fishing Tool
The fishing net is awesome! it is lightweight, the handle folds for easy carry. I've used it while I was fishing for brim and bass. Having a rubber net is super important for me because it doesn't take long to dry after using it. I have recommended this to my fishing buddy and he is satisfied with the net also.
B.T.S. : Folds up to fit in my pack!
I'm pretty impressed with this landing net. I really like that folds up and fits in my pack. Portability is important to me because my favorite spots are hard to get to. The last thing I want is gear that's flopping around hooked to my pack or I have to carry it by hand. Net dimensions are big enough to land most freshwater fish you're going to catch. Rubber net means less tangles and worrying about getting hooks snagged. 10/10, I have been recommending this to friends.
Brian : Nice design
I did a lot of research and debated getting this net for a while. I thought I needed one of the expensive $80-$120 nets but this one kept bringing me back. I won't say it's perfect but you can't beat the price.
Things I like about it:
- It folds down easy. I was looking at the Brookie but looks like you have to unscrew it to break down the handle.
- The clip on the handle seems like it will be useful. It's mounted on the correct side and will be nice for helping to attach it to my pack as well as my belt.
- The net itself is a nice rubberish net of sufficient depth and there is sufficient space for how it attaches to the hoop so you can run straps through the edge to help attach it to my pack.
- It has a magnetic attachment with a clip. Other nets you have to purchase separately for $10+
Things that I think could be better:
- It's not carbon fiber like the Nomad nets so it's a little heavier but still not bad.
- I have a small concern about durability. I haven't fished with it yet so only time will tell. The folding/locking mechanism could be a weak point.
- I would prefer the hoop to be a little smaller. This is primarily because I was looking for something I could store inside my backpack. However with the folding design, clip on the handle, and space around the hoop I think mounting it on the outside will be easier and cleaner so it may work out even better.
For the price I don't think you can go wrong giving this net a try.
Bob G. : Almost perfect...
In the 'open' position this is a great small net for landing fish while wading rivers & creeks. The rubber mesh has approximately 3/4" openings which allows the water to pass through easily but the smallest of trout to stay within the net. The handle has a built-in magnet with D-ring that holds the net securely on my sling bag when not in use but breaks free easily enough when I need to land a fish. The handle is also long enough to reach fish without stretching or straining as with some smaller wooden handled nets. BUT... there's almost always a 'but', it's when you close the collapsible handle for storage or to keep it out of the water while wading that the one weakness makes itself known. The hinge where the handle meets the net swings too freely which allows the net to 'open' at the most inopportune times and get snagged on tree limbs, rocks, etc. All-in-all it's still a great net for the application and the trade-off of the longer handle balances out the occasional frustration of untangling your net from a tree.
Made_N_Michigan : Make sure you get the right size net for the right size fish ????♂️
Too small for medium to large fish. I was able to land a 10.6# steelhead but I lost 3 others because I chose the wrong net
Alyssa L M : Awesome folding net! Space saver
Okay so I got this net because I'm a "let's go fishing" out of the blue kind of guy and im not a fan of having to carry a long net.
First off, it FOLDS!! which is awesome in my opinion. Sure it won't hold super huge fish but that's not what I'm catching here in AZ. I mostly wanted it for trout season because the weather is much cooler and enjoyable.
Net feels really sturdy and its light weight which is awesome! It doesn't stay locked while the handle is folded but it's not an issue for me. I havent had a chance to use it yet, but will edit after this weekend if i catch any trout.
Bobber : UNADVERTISED BONUS
Handle is a little long for a trout net, making it awkward to carry. BONUS-Handle has magnets and cap is detachable. Strong magnetic hold, thought the handle broke when it pulled loose. Great feature, no lanyard needed
NotAFakeReview : Really wanted to like it- magnetic release failed
I was so excited to get this net. The rubber netting and magnetic release were huge selling points for me. Let me just say... the magnetic release failed miserably. 5 minutes into wading and the net disconnected from the release and went to the bottom of the river. The net was simply hanging from a d ring on my fishing vest- not in contact with the water/current. Come on guys you got do better than that!

Jake : Great Little Net
Love this net. Has a great magnet clip, packs in a backpack well, and is fairly lightweight. Can't get any better for the price.
Mr GS : Stay in place
The net arrived after being lost by USPS for a few days. It appears to be sturdy and hopefully it will stay secure on the back of my fly vest's retractable device. It would be nice if the net snapped shut as it does snap open. I'm a little concerned that it will flop around as I bushwack from hole to hole. We'll see. Net material appears to be non threatening to fish and resist hook entanglement. I have not yet had a chance to put it to the test.
james : Perfect for kayak fishing!
Been a great net for kayak fishing. Like that it folds and has a carabiner. Silicone has been great, no hooks getting caught in the net makes it much easier to release fish, especially in a small kayak. Combine with bungee tether! I would have lost this thing ten times already without it.
frandy mejia : Strong and light net
I've caught several nice size catfish. It folds up and opens easily. It also packs easy for trips. Very satisfied so far.
Roark : Bought as backup but it is SO GOOD I will use as main.
Ok. So this was a nice surprise. I got the squarish framed one. This thing is MUCH more well made than it looks in the photos. That middle hinge section connecting the handle section to the net hoop assembly is actually made of metal not plastic so once the plastic catch on the handle is slid in to the tapered channel in it, the interface is snug, not one bit of floppiness, the whole net is really sturdy and very lightweight. I initially bought this as a temporary net for a weekend trip while I looked for a higher end net but at this level of quality there is little reason to buy a “better” net. The netting material is also coated and soft and likely to be gentle on fish. These were my first impressions but after multiple trips and one incident I am convinced i don't need anything "better".
As a testament to just how strong the frame is, and most definitely not something you want to test. On one of my trips I was walking a hooked fish to calmer waters with my rod and walking over sharp large granite boulders to get to the spot and had the net hooked to my back folded, I was not paying enough attention and fell between two large rocks and my upper back where the net was fastened landed on the sharp edge of a large rock.....So i practically had one foot on the forward rock, one leg hanging in the gap, and and my back on another rock. As I got up to inspect what i thought must surely be a broken net and a messed up back....i was so surprised to learn that not only was my back unscathed, I learned that the net was not broken, it only suffered a VERY minor scuff, no bend.
STRONGLY recommended.
The Fishing Family : Great for Kayak Fishing
I recently got this fly fishing net for use on my kayak and it is great for that purpose! It's lightweight, easy to handle, and the mesh is that nice soft rubber so that no matter what type of fish you catch, it will be handled with care.
The net is also attractive looking.
The collapsing function took me a bit of getting used to, but now I really like it. It even comes with a quick release magnetic breakaway connection to a carabiner.
Good product at a great price!
Amazon Customer : Excellent designed Fly Fishing soft net
The net is thoughtfully designed for both Fish and Angler. The folding handle, ergonomic handle grip, ease of extension telescoping handle, make for easy of catch or catch/release of the soft rubber mesh on fish.
Allan Bullock : Works Great For Catfish
I got this for commercial catfishing I am sick of fish tearing up my nets, this works great with the rubber instead of normal nets that snag on the barbs of the catfish. Its a little small for really big cats but for 90% of them its just right.
I replaced my larger slide handle net and glad I Did
Collin : If you like to catch fish buy it!!
I have never caught more fish than I have with this net. Honestly I think the fish are intimidated when they see me with the net and just hop right in! Great product if you want to catch more fish than your friends.
catherine : Nice net, lightweight and collapsible.
Being able to collapse the handle on this net is what makes it perfect for me. I hate lugging around bulky fishing gear, so the more something can fold up the better ???? the handle is a little short so you'll want to be near the edge of the water...ideally not anywhere marshy where a longer handle would be more suitable...but since I mostly fish on a dock or city ponds it's great
Michael : Don't use for wading in rivers.
I liked the net but the magnet that connects to the clip is too weak. First time out I reached for the net to land a 27" Steelhead but the net was gone. There is nowhere to attach a tether either. The river flow was relatively low but enough to take the net away. I still got my fish by landing it on the bank though.
Customer : Functional but cumbersome
Good first-
This is a great net for fish. The large holes are excellent for not tangling the hook or fish. My friend has a similar net with small rubber holes and each time a fish death rolls he has a mess.
Bad-
The fold feature is a joke. This net is not light either. Also, the net has a strong magnet and that connects to a clip for attaching to yourself or a backpack. Perks of that are it's easy to yank to unclip and scoop a fish. I've also had my friend pick up for me each time it unclips on a tree walking in the woods. I should have lost this net about 10 times already.
Its a good net for the price. Heavy, wide, functional, likely to lose.
Greekspeare : Perfect size and function for kayak fishing.
1 year review:
Purchased 2 units for 2 kayaks, primarily to use for lake fishing.
Bass seem to love the comfort, and tend to smile after a trip to space in this net.
