Is this a good size net for a inflatable pontoon boat?

Answer: The extra length is always good, especially since you are above the water in a pontoon boat.

Answer: I bought to replace a hand net that I felt I just couldn’t get enough reach when wading. It has been great. I think you might want to go with something longer for fishing from a craft. I have one that I use for my canoe and kayak that does the job.

Answer: You're still going to have to reach a bit. They make a long one. Go to fishponds website, they have illustrations on how long each model is.

Answer: Yes. I use it on a large 6 ft Zonker float tube. Handle not too long to go under stripping apron and ride out of my way. Handle long enough to reach out beyond tube front.

Are the holes in the net small enough to keep small trout from escaping?

Answer: If you are catching trout small enough to get through the holes in the mesh…then you definitely do not need a net.

Would you recommend this size for fishing from a canoe?

Answer: I've never fished from a canoe, but I will say the size if this net is very manageable. It's an excellent fly fishing net for holding a rod and netting a fish with its length so I would imagine getting over the side of a canoe would work very well also.

Answer: There is a hole in the end of the handle where you can attach either a lanyard or a retainer cord.

I'm interested in this net but why is it so expensive? I'm guessing its the carbon fiber portion? It costs more than my fly rod lol (echo carbon xl).

Answer: The construction is top notch and you are paying for a name. Fishpond makes premium fly fishing gear and comes at a premium price. I don't regret spending the extra money on this net as I see myself using it for decades.
