Is this a good size net for a inflatable pontoon boat?

Answer: The extra length is always good, especially since you are above the water in a pontoon boat.

Answer: I bought to replace a hand net that I felt I just couldn’t get enough reach when wading. It has been great. I think you might want to go with something longer for fishing from a craft. I have one that I use for my canoe and kayak that does the job.

Answer: You're still going to have to reach a bit. They make a long one. Go to fishponds website, they have illustrations on how long each model is.

Answer: Yes. I use it on a large 6 ft Zonker float tube. Handle not too long to go under stripping apron and ride out of my way. Handle long enough to reach out beyond tube front.

Are the holes in the net small enough to keep small trout from escaping?

Answer: If you are catching trout small enough to get through the holes in the mesh…then you definitely do not need a net.

Answer: I've never fished from a canoe, but I will say the size if this net is very manageable. It's an excellent fly fishing net for holding a rod and netting a fish with its length so I would imagine getting over the side of a canoe would work very well also.

Answer: There is a hole in the end of the handle where you can attach either a lanyard or a retainer cord.

I'm interested in this net but why is it so expensive? I'm guessing its the carbon fiber portion? It costs more than my fly rod lol (echo carbon xl).

Answer: The construction is top notch and you are paying for a name. Fishpond makes premium fly fishing gear and comes at a premium price. I don't regret spending the extra money on this net as I see myself using it for decades.

I’ve always bought 20-40$ rubber nets but they only
lasted around a year or so. I decided to spend the extra money and get this net! I havent used it yet but it is very high quality and light weight. The netting seems very well made. The handle is thin. Its very versitile size for wade and boat alike. The carbon fiber pattern on the head is pretty cool too. Quick shipping makes it even better. Couldnt be happier.

Extremely well made with high quality materials. My only personal gripe is the shape of the handle, which is somewhat thin and rectangular. It just seems to me that something a little more ergonomic is in order. It's not a big complaint, but I think I expected a bit more considering the price. That being said, should I ever lose or break it I would no doubt purchase another one.

Five stars for a lightweight, well-constructed net. The finish is attractive, and the rubber mesh is oversized and should perform in a wide range of conditions.
