legal in california???
Answer: Not sure if it’s legal but I use it at the local lake. If a ranger drives up, leave it in the water. I don’t know what that is. It’s not mine Sir
Answer: You will have to check your local regulations it is different for every Area
Q:
Can I use it on the ocean shore?
Answer: Yes it can be used at the ocean shore. I put sinker weights on the corners as the tide will pull and push on it. I carried out over my head into waist deep water and then dropped it down in the water. I then walked out to chest deep water and held the rope as the tide still would pull. You have to be patient and have the trap baited well to draw the minnows to the trap.
Answer: No. Mine got bent up doing that. Works great in lakes though.

Product reviews of Goture Portable Folded Fishing Net Fish Shrimp Minnow Crayfish Crab Baits Cast Mesh Trap Automatic
Larry Granstaff : Great product. We set it out for 30 minutes. Had 12 fish on retrieval
Great product. We set it out for 30 minutes. Had 12 fish on retrieval
HMaz : Dont waste your money
If you have extra money you are willing to leave at bottom of the lakes, then buy this product. I could not even bring mine to surface before it fell apart.
ngoc a. : Not worth the money
Product keeps flipping. Not great at all.
Amazon Customer : Junk
Used it once the net tore the first night we used it, very flimsy net.
Larry Granstaff : Great product. We set it out for 30 minutes. Had 12 fish on retrieval
Great product. We set it out for 30 minutes. Had 12 fish on retrieval
Ben : No bottom support. Breaks with weight.
This trap is super light weight so if there is any kind of water current it will tip over and/or wash away. I tried adding some small rocks to keep it in place but since there is no support on the bottom of the trap it caused it to collapse and break.
Jim Billberry : What a rip
The fish destroyed it the first time I used it.
Carlos M. : Out once in the water and broke bend like a cheap umbrella in a winter day
It does not hold anything it bends
Dylan Payne : Handle carefully.
Broke first use. Cheap construction, metal arms bent after pulling it out of the water for the first time.
Mary A. Page : Good net
What can I say, it is a crab trap and it works, Have had some good meals thank to this net.
Amazon Customer : Flimsy
These might be better used in a lake where the water has no tide or movement. We tried them for crab and we knew they would be light weight, so we attached a heavy weight on the bottom so it would sink faster and stay on the bottom. It did sink, however it did not stay in place. It came back towards the rocky shore very quickly and it would collapse on itself like a flimsy umbrella in a wind storm. We did not catch any crab that day, although people just down from us did
chuey : Very nice setup
Pull the string to set up the net, easy to use and caught quite a lot of minnows. Used bread to attract the minnows.
Zack : Broke on first use
Used once- as I lifted it out of the water (empty too) the cheap metal bars folded in on each other like a flimsy umbrella in a hurricane. Won’t ever buy again.
Carlos M. : Out once in the water and broke bend like a cheap umbrella in a winter day
It does not hold anything it bends
Timothy M Nowaskie : Shocked we’re bringing home!
We are shocked that this trap made it back with us from Florida and it’s being stored for next year’s trip! Good quality and functioned as advertised. We took this net to Florida to catch bate fish for fishing in the gulf. Funny enough not much bate was caught BUT we caught 6 crab with this trap! We used the traditional trap (shown) for a holding tank. Nice addition to the necessary tools that pack well for vacation!
Zack : Broke on first use
Used once- as I lifted it out of the water (empty too) the cheap metal bars folded in on each other like a flimsy umbrella in a hurricane. Won’t ever buy again.
Ariel K. : Broken in 10 minutes.
Broke in the first use. The wires bent weirdly as it sunk to the bottom a few feet and when I pulled it back up the was bent, damaged, and difficult for crabs to enter due to the bending in the wire. Garbage. Don’t buy.
Kelly : Not Durable
The rope snapped and we lost the net the first time we tried to check it. Very disappointed. Amazon wants me to return it and that is not possible because it is lost in the inter coastal waterway. I can’t recommend this product unfortunately.
Debbykp : Cheap built
Collapsed first time used
Marc : Do Not Waste, Your $$$$
Pure, Crap. China Made. Flimsy, will not hold shape. Absolutely no quality, in this trap.
Buye, Beware!!!
Carol : Husband loved it
Husband liked it but hadn’t been able to use it yet. He likes that it’s collapsible and doesn’t require much room. Not a lot of storage on the boat.
Jonathan niblett : Poorly made product but expected for how cheep it is.
I kinda figured this wasn't going to last long. Very poorly made. It broke before I even used it.... Very cheep. If you do buy this be very very gentle when opening the net because it will break very easily.
heffer,Dave : Good fishing net!!
The portable fishing net comes pre-assebled. easy to assemble and use, quality material.Take it out of the bag and simply open it it up. It closes just as easy. You need some rope and a long pole such as an old shovel handle. Tie the net to the rope and the rope to your pole. Now you can get fish right away
Palm Tree : Awsome!
This minnow trap is extremely effective! I have used the traditional cylinder style for 30 years, and it has to soak for hours or overnight to catch any quantity of bait. This one works in 15-20 mins or less in most cases and catches large quantities of bait. I highly recommend!
Update: we have been through several of these traps. They only last 1 season or so because the salt water deteriorates the joints.
Thomas S. : One Star
broke in 1h a crab get inside and destroy it
Amazon Customer : poor quality
fun to use, caught crabs and fish. wires rusted in 4 days, netting has rips and is coming apart. i like net just wish it was of better quality. i do not think it will last more than a month.
Tami Bassett : Legit minnow trap.
This will be year 3 with this trap. I see a lot of bad reviews, just assume they are idiots who do not know how to take care of their stuff. I use this net all summer long in Northern Michigan beaver dams for minnows. It sits on the back of my Big Red and is hauled through brush constantly. Not a single problem yet, actually here buying my second one just to have 2 out at the same time, saw the unwarrented 3 stars, and had to tell my experience.
Amazon Customer : Junk
Used it once the net tore the first night we used it, very flimsy net.
Dennis D. : all was good, very nicely packaged
everything was packages very snug and safe, all was good , very nicely packaged,, but not so strong or sturdy, it ripped in one area before i even got to use it in the water.
Chano Martinez : Great net.
Great net. Only fault because I live on the Texas coast is that the the bars are not stainless steel so they already are starting to get surface rust because of the salt water. But work great.
Amazon Customer : poor quality
fun to use, caught crabs and fish. wires rusted in 4 days, netting has rips and is coming apart. i like net just wish it was of better quality. i do not think it will last more than a month.
Bushman : not very sturdy as it broke on first use.
not sturdy at all. metal broke on first use. would not sink and floated in moderate current making it not useful at all. on first retrieval the frame work broke causing it to be inoperable. not very good quality.
Chae : Good on Amazon
I received it a day earlier than expected. Good on Amazon.
As for the product... Yes, it is a bit flimsy but that's to be expected. It's a bait trap. It's design to catch and hold fingerling size fish for the most part. Anything tougher or bigger than that can eventually work itself out of the trap. I don't necessarily see that as a bad thing. As is, it's a great combination of size, weight, and toughness.
Mine sank well without any additional weight. It didn't sink evenly, and that's to be expected given the shape. The flat bottom going down it's going to want to tilt over way or another. Just hold on to the string (which you have to add) and ease it down.
Mine didn't come with a zipper on the bottom. But the fish were easy to extract by going through the holes. The bait pouch didn't have any sort of fastening but I just folded over side and secured it with a wooden clothespin. I have had no issues with it coming loose.
As for catching, it's not going to catch anything if there's no fish there so move it around. For bait fish, under the dock is almost always a sure thing and that's where mine is soaking right now. The first time, after about a 10 minute soak, we had 5 little fish. I used Cheetos as we have 2 kids and be apparently have an unlimited supply of it.
Nanette Serrano : Good quality easy to open and nice design
Liked everything, excited to use this for crabbing this weekend, easy to open and shut, quality ???? ???? ???? very long string..nice color too, I need to buy more. I highly recommend this product.
heffer,Dave : Good fishing net!!
The portable fishing net comes pre-assebled. easy to assemble and use, quality material.Take it out of the bag and simply open it it up. It closes just as easy. You need some rope and a long pole such as an old shovel handle. Tie the net to the rope and the rope to your pole. Now you can get fish right away
wlkrp2 : crabs
Looks great and it caught crabs. The bait holder is a joke and I had to add weights to hold it down.
But it did catch crabs and a few shrimp.
Timothy M Nowaskie : Shocked we’re bringing home!

We used the traditional trap (shown) for a holding tank. Nice addition to the necessary tools that pack well for vacation!
Phyllis Coulter : This is junk, buy something else.
This was a piece of junk that got holes in it after 1st use. Don't waste your money here. I was using it in a still pond with no current and a fairly smooth bottom surface. I was highly disappointed.and will never buy a product from here again. Luckily I had paid for it with a gift card I got from the Red Cross for donating blood.
Eli : not worth
Holes are too small. Only tiny carbs can get in. It works though,I caught a few crabs and small fish.
Jay H. : Great lil trap
Great lil trap. Just pull string at top and it locks in place. Would have gave it 5 starts but zipper is faced inside. Not a huge deal just have to reach in through a hole to unzip.
Sharon Collins : Very weak, flimsy made and waste of money
This is garbage! It is weak, I put it in the bay, because it said shrimp and pulling it up it broke!!!! The wire that holds it together is garbage. Sorry I wasted my money on this.
Mengjialin : Great idea but poor quality.
Very easy to set up and use,Great idea but poor quality.I used it twice and it started to appear damaged
Warren B. Garrison : Chinese garbage
typical garbage from China. GREAT design, works great for catching fish. BUT the material is garbage. I've used mine about 10-12 times and already the stitching around the holes where they enter is breaking loose. I just brought one in and put about 15 small zip ties to try and save it. But yea, if you only need it for half a dozen times, it's great, but don't expect any long term use out of it.
Tami Bassett : Legit minnow trap.

gustavo torres : red
los peces , camgrejos y camarones NOENTRAN JAJAJAJAJAJA
Mike puhl : Dont buy
Worked well the first time. Second time i pulled it in one of the support rods buckled and is now in the trash.
klrman : Nice net.
Awesome little net. Caught a lot of bait with it while on weekend in the Keys.
John .Edward. Inman : GREAT
Great rope it's strong too I doubled it up when my buddy got stuck pulled him right out with this rope
Amazon Customer : Ask for doorstep delivery if there are dogs around
My dogs chewed it up before I could use it because the carrier dropped the package off at my gate instead of my house but I’m sure it would have been a great product had I been able to use it
Chae : Good on Amazon
