Questions about FoodSaver FM2100-000 Vacuum Sealer Machine System with Starter Vacuum Seal Bags & Rolls, Safety Certified, Black
Q:
Could this be used with Ball jars and the vacuum attachment?
Answer: It is NOT compatible with product FoodSaver T03-0006-02P Regular-Mouth Jar Sealer.
Answer: I played around with the handheld that comes with the sealer and removed the clear plastic bottom and the barb in the top will fit snugly into the jar sealer accessory. So bottom line is that the supplied hose with the jar sealer cannot be used, but the hose supplied with the sealer works fine. Glad I don't have to send it back.
Answer: Yes, the FM2435 is compatible with our regular and wide mouth jar sealers!
Answer: John is correct, the barb fitting on the end is not tapered and will not attach correctly to the sealer accessory port. It does not work with the jar sealer kit.
Q:
Does this machine let you stop the vacuum process whenever you want so it doesn't crush some foods?
Answer: It has 2 vacuum settings, dry and moist. The moist does not vacuum as much. However, you can stop the process at any time by hitting the "seal" button. Also, it has a hand held attachment which you can use with the ziplock-type bags and stop the process whenever you want. You can also use mason jars and put the food in them and use the jar accessory. Or the canister or deli container. You use the handheld attachment with those.
Answer: Yes, to stop the vacuum and start the sealing cycle, simply press seal.
Answer: Yes. You press VAC/SEAL until you want it to stop, then press SEAL.
Answer: Yes. I do it all the time. Just press seal when you think you've vacuumed out enough air.
Answer: Yes. You can stop it anytime
Q:
Will this work with Mylar? If so, up to what weight?
Answer: Yes! This will seal up to an 11" Mylar bag. It does not have a max weight since it is only sealing the bag and not vacuuming, thanks!
Answer: So, will this suck the oxygen out of the Mylar bag also, or just seal it?
Answer: We routinely re-seal mylar chip bags with the Foodsaver
Answer: It will seal but not suction
Answer: Know not
Q:
Besides the price, what is the difference between the fm 2435-ecr model and thev 4440 ?
Answer: We offer manual and automatic FoodSavers. Both pull the same amount of vacuum force and have built-in cutter and roll storage. With automatics, you just insert the bag and it will seal or vac/seal without any extra steps. Whereas with manual FoodSavers, you must turn a latch to lock the lid down and then press whatever function you need. This model is a manual model, and the 4440 is an automatic. For further assistance, please call us at (877) 777-8042. Thanks!
Answer: The V4440 is an automatic system that will sense the bag when you insert it and it will start the vacuum-seal process. Also, it includes other features such as the tray full light that will indicate when you drip tray is full, and needs to be cleaned. In addition, the accessory and mariate dedicated buttons for easy access for when you're going to vacuum seal containers, zipper bags or marinate meats using our Quick Marinator. In the other hand, the FM2435-ECR is a manual operated vacuum sealer where you have to do everything step by step and does not include the features highlighted with the V4440. Happy shopping!
Q:
Amazon is recommending a 11" x 50' roll to purchase with this 2100 model. Will the 50' roll fit inside this machine?
Answer: Of course you can buy any brand vac bags (check your max width) and of course you can cut the 50’ roll down to any smaller size roll. But I don’t cut it down as you don’t need to keep the roll in the machine to use this equipment. Just sit the 50’ roll in the holder (door top open) use the sliding cutter, then sit the roll to the side (out of the way). Now using the cut material (bag) vac and seal. Really this is easy, don’t over think this. BUY THE BIG ROLL AND SAVE MONEY
Answer: No, our Vacuum Sealers can hold the 11"x 16 feet or the 8"x 20 feet rolls.
Answer: I just purchased foodsaver machine & the 50' roll, but hv not tried it yet, so can't ans for sure. I hv an older machine that I hv bn using a 16' roll with.
Answer: While it's possible that the roll might not fit, that 50' roll does seem like a much better deal, and I would think that you could split it make smaller rolls that do fit. In fact, that is what I plan to try to do when my current roll runs out.
Answer: I seriously doubt it. I had the same question and decided against getting that roll. I got the Foodsaver brand double roll refills instead.
Q:
Does this unit have to sit flat on counter or can I put it up so it doesn't take up so much counter space?
Answer: It does have to sit flat on the counter while you use it, but I store mine upright in the cupboard to save space.
Answer: It has to be flat to use it, but you can store it however you like. Put the button on the side to store position so it doesn't flop open.
Answer: It only needs to be flat when in use - there is a knob on the side that you set for storage so it doesn't mess up the seals. Just use that and store it how you like.
Answer: It needs to sit flat to use but can be stored on side when not in use.
Answer: It is made to lay flat, but it can be set up if it is locked.
Answer: You are able to put away and bring it out as you please. You want to put it on "Storage" mode and you don't want to place anything on top of it. Also, make sure the area you are moving it to is a fresh area.
Answer: Yes, without any problems.
Q:
I have not been able to use other Food Savers. Is this easy to use.
Answer: What have been your previous problems? All you need to do is insert a bag flat on the seal, close the lid, and press "vacuum and seal" -- or just "seal" if you don't want to suck out the air. Very easy. If you have trouble with the rolls of plastic, buy the pre-cut bags. This one comes with a few so you can see which you prefer.
Answer: This food saver is an updated version of my 12year old one. Pretty basic user details. In my opinion this new one is much easier than my old unit.
Answer: Very easy......it cuts and seals bags easily from roll, wet and dry settings, or you can stop it at anytime to seal what you are vacuuming.
Answer: Yes.. Very simple to operate...

Answer: Very easy!!
Q:
Does this come with jar sealer attachment
Answer: I think my husband ordered is separate, AND it didn't work with my sealer.
Answer: No, it has to be ordered seperately
Answer: No but you can use one with it
Answer: yes
Q:
What is the differencee between the food saver v3230 and the fm2435 models?
Answer: Hello! Besides the difference in the design of these two vacuum sealers, the only 2 differences are the consecutive seals they can perform and the gentle/normal cycle feature. The V3230 has a gentle cycle for delicate items and can do 6-8 repetitive seals and the FM2435 is capable of up to 15-30 cycles. Thanks!
Q:
How much space is needed between food and sealing (my older version ), I need about 4 inches, wasteing so much bag. Does this machine require less
Answer: We recommend leaving approximately 2 inches between the food and the end of the bag to guarantee a good, strong seal.
Answer: I really love the fact that the sealing element is so much closer to the front end of the unit. This arrangement saves a lot of bag material, that went to waste in the older units. This feature alone, is worth getting this unit. Everything else is frosting on the cake.
Q:
Does this have high and low speed?
Answer: No, this FoodSaver does not have a low and high speed, but it does have the moist and dry feature that will adjust the heat-seal time to make sure the bag is sealed when you are vacuum-sealing food with moisture. Thank you!
Answer: This model would have a 'Food' button to use the 'Moist' or 'Dry' setting. When on the 'Moist' setting, it will extend the seal for a few extra seconds. It will also have the 'Seal' and 'Vac/Sea' buttons. Thanks!
Answer: This model would have a 'Food' button to use the 'Moist' or 'Dry' setting. When on the 'Moist' setting, it will extend the seal for a few extra seconds. It will also have the 'Seal' and 'Vac/Sea' buttons. Happy FoodSaving!
Answer: No, but it has a dry and wet setting. Basically the wet is supposed to shutoff the vacuum as soon as it detects moisture, but I've never tried it.
Q:
How does it compair with the v2460 food saver ?
Answer: The only differences between the FM2435-ECR and the V2460 are the sealing capacity and the handheld sealer that is included with the FM2435-ECR. The V2460 can do 6-8 repetitive sealer before a cool down period. In the other hand, the FM2435-ECR can perform up to 15-30 consecutive seals. Happy shopping!
Q:
Does this sealer have the CrushFree Instant Seal that stops the vacuum process to prevent food from crushing?
Answer: You can press the seal button at any time to immediately stop the vacuum process and begin sealing the bag. This prevents crushing delicate items such as bread, cookies, and pastries.
Q:
can you add vacuum sealer port other than the hand held one that comes with it with wide and regular lids?
Answer: You can use a jar sealer attachment with the existing port.
Answer: The accessory hose and accessory pot is compatible with all of our FoodSaver accessories, some adapters are sold separately.
Q:
I bought this but nothing but noise happens when I press vac/deal button. When I press seal button it seals. Bag goes in same area as when sealing?
Answer: After putting your food in the bag, put the open end of the bag in the gray tray. Make sure you have room on the counter to easily rest the bag with it's contents before pressing the vac/seal button.
Answer: There is a smooth side and a rough side. Be sure the smooth side is facing up, and the rough side at bottom. It will only seal this way. If the rough side is facing up, the heat can't completely seal the bag.
Answer: No. The open end of the bag goes into the little channel towards the back of the machine.
Answer: You are probably putting the bag too far into the machine when attempting to use the vacuum function, or at least that was our mistake on the first try. Similar to what J Cunningham answered, line up the open end of the bag with the gray (liquid catching) tray and it'll work.
Answer: When attempting to vacuum and seal the bag, we advise that the open end of the bag is placed into the vacuum channel. If you need further troubleshooting assistance, please contact us through our www.foodsaver.com/contactus website, and we would be happy to help.
Answer: I don't think you are putting the open end of the bag far enough into the unit. It has to cover the drip channel and it will remove the air and finish by itself to seal. Hope this helps. Another suggestion. Take a look at the instructions that came with the unit, they are pretty good.
Answer: Just make sure the edge of the bag is aligned with the drip tray. A little bit over the tray doesn't hurt either. It works much better if the edge of the bag is not greasy and the fit of the food inside it is not too tight.
Answer: I had this same problem until I noticed that the top seal wasn't securely in place. I pushed in the seal and it's worked great since. Hope this helps!
Answer: The open end of the bag should not go in farther than the little trough just past the sealer!
Q:
Does this unit have an attachment for a vacuum hose with a cap to remove air from Mason jars?
Answer: This vacuum sealer comes with an accessory hose that can be used with the jar sealers to seal mason jars. The jar sealers do not come in the starter kit that comes with this FoodSaver, but can be purchased separately.
Answer: well. it has an attachment to let air out on food saver bags..hope this helps
Answer: Yes. I use it for the marinator
Answer: Yes
Q:
Can you seal bags of soups without a mess?
Answer: Yes! Simply freeze the soup prior to vacuum sealing or try using our https://www.amazon.com/FoodSaver-Containers-4-Piece-Shatter-Resistant/dp/B01AJJ1WNA/ref=sr_1_2?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1476106385&sr=1-2&keywords=fresh+containers
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: If you are talking about liquid soup, what you need to do is put in your bag freez it and then seal it.That is the way I do all my liquids and it works great.
Answer: I tried sealing my soup bags outside. Clean up was easier with a water hose!
Answer: It is messy. Great entertainment for the family to watch one try to close bag. Maybe with patience and practice. Good luck.
Q:
The hose i got for the jar sealer doesn't fit this machine. which one do i use?
Answer: We're happy to help! The hose that fits the FM2435-ECR is FA2000-000. Happy shopping!
Q:
Does this have a setting for moist foods? The description says that it does, but the comparison chart says that it does not.
Answer: The FM2100-000 does have a moist food setting. This changes the seal level for type of food - moist or dry. Liquids can be drawn up by the vacuum process and liquids between the layers of the bag can have a cooling effect on the heat seal. Adjustable Food Settings Seal Level can extend the seal time to compensate for liquid and create a secure, reliable and air-tight seal.
Answer: Yes it does, but it doesn't work at all. Even the slightest liquid will prevent you from getting a seal. Your only option is to first freeze partially the items that are "wet," then seal them. The feature for moist foods is absolutely useless.
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes
Q:
does it automatically cut the bag
Answer: Although the FoodSaver doesn't cut the bag automatically, you still may cut it using the built in cutter. Happy shopping!
Answer: No, but it has a cutter that slides across to cut the bag.
Answer: No it does not auto-cut the bag, it has a integrated cutting blade that once you determine length needed - you slide the blade knob from left to right and cuts perfectly.
Answer: No. You just have to slide the tab at the desired length to cut the bag.
Answer: No, none of them do but it does have a manual cutter that works great.
Q:
what is the purpose of the hand held sealer
Answer: The handheld sealer's purpose is to vacuum seal zipper bags, containers, jar sealers, bottle stoppers, etc.
Answer: Good question! It looks like they include it to get you to buy special (their brand) bags from them or other of their containers they alone sell. I wish I could get it to work with ordinary ziplock bags, but I don't think it would be any more effective than manually (?) sucking the air out.
Answer: You use it to seal their brand of special jars. I have never used that function, just the plastic bags.
Answer: I think you can use it to seal zipper bags that Food savers sells
Q:
My old FoodSaver vacuums canisters, does this system work for canisters?
Answer: Thank you for clearing up my canister question regarding this new vacuum sealer. All my current canisters leak, has that problem been solved?
Answer: Yes! This compatible with all of our FoodSaver accessories.
Q:
Why under product information for manufacturer it states: newell brands and not foodsaver????? called foodsaver, said they have no idea of model #
Answer: FoodSaver branded products are manufactured by Sunbeam Products, Inc. d/b/a Jarden Consumer Solutions, a subsidiary of Newell Brands Inc.
Answer: Newell Brands is the parent company that owns the brand Foodsaver. They are one and the same. This is an active model in the FoodSaver brand, I just called customer service and they confirmed. Not sure why they told you otherwise, hope this helps!
Q:
Where is the cutter located? Many thanks.
Answer: Open the lid and the cutter is inside. The roll of bags sits in the back and the cutter lifts and is in front of the roll. Easy to use. If you are looking on the page that talks about this unit, look at the bottom photo. The cutter is the black bar going across the bags. Hope this helps.
Answer: It is a slider inside the machine between where the roll is stored and the sealing strip. You won’t see a knife or any sharp edge, but if you pull out the length of bag you need and then push that slide to the other side it will cut the bag for you
Q:
Can this foodsaver be stored on it's back end when not in use? Dimensions are bigger than my old F.Saver which takes up quite a bit of counter space.
Answer: No we do not recommend storing the FoodSaver in a upright position.
Q:
Can you use this with Ziploc brand bags? Thank you.
Answer: We only recommend using FoodSaver brand bags with our vacuum sealers.
Answer: I have used some ziplock bags. Have to cut off the seal portion of the bag depending on which brand finger closure or ziplock
Answer: Unfortunately, no. The bags require a sealing port in them; it does not "adapt" to conventional zipper bags.
Answer: Never tried but I would think they won't seal. Too thin.
Q:
What buttons are in the top of the machine? Comparing to other models.
Answer: The FM2435 has a seal setting, vacuum and seal setting, as well as a dry and moist option. Call us to compare models and find the perfect FoodSaver for you! Our toll free number is 1-877-777-8042. We are available Monday-Friday 8am-8pm, and Saturday 9am-6pm EST. Thank you!
Q:
Whats the difference between this model and the FM2100?
Answer: They only differ in looks, the functions and quality remain the same.
Q:
What is the difference between this model and the fm2100-000?
Answer: The models differ in design not functionality or quality.
Q:
Can i use my foodsaver rolls in this device? my foodsaver died again :( (foodsaver 8" & 11" rolls)
Answer: Yes, you can use the 8" or the 11" rolls with the FM2435-ECR.
Answer: Never bought their rolls, depends on length I guess, 30ft is ok for me.
Q:
We bought this on Amazon and after 3 uses- the bag doesn’t seal! What do we do ???
Answer: Check your drip pan ans make sure the bags are large enough.
Answer: Are you trying to seal a bag that has liquid in it?
Answer: Make sure you have the bag lined up correctly. Then return it if it doesn’t work.
Answer: First of all IS IT WET? If you are trying to seal a bag that has MOIST FOOD in it then it won's seal unless you wipe out the bag that is close to the seal.
Q:
Can you use this to seal homemade beef jerky? And if so, so you also need one of those silica packets?
Answer: Using your FoodSaver to vacuum seal and store your jerky is the best way to store your jerky long term. The FoodSaver allows you to keep the moisture in and the air out which is great because your jerky will still be somewhat soft but will have no oxygen to spoil. You can save your jerky by vacuum sealing in bags or mason jars (also using the FoodSaver Jar Sealers), and save it up to 5 times longer than regular storage methods. You can also freeze the vacuum-sealed jerky for storage up to a year to a year and a half.
Answer: Hello Will, as a active hunter and jerky maker this machine works great. I have kept my sealed jerky in the freezer for over a year without any problems.
Answer: I would think it would work just fine for beef jerky. I would be concerned about the length of time it could be kept assuring freshness. The silica packets just be what is needed. Good luck, worth a shot, would like to know how it turns out.
Answer: Yes
Q:
can someone please tell me the wattage the food saver uses
Answer: Don't know wattage. Plugs into 110 outlet
Answer: The U.S. and Canada operate on 110/120v current.
Answer: Don't know which model you have but copied this from the Amazon site. Product Specification
Answer: Watts: 120, or 1Amp hope this helps
Q:
Is the warranty good if I order through Amazon instead of the company directly?
Answer: I really couldn't say. I have never had reason to use the warranty. I am on my fourth Food Saver om 25 years. They have always outlived the warranty period. They are so useful, I wouldn't want to be without one.
Answer: Yes, Food Saver replaced mine under the Warranty and I purchased it from Amazon.
Answer: I don't know and I can't find my paperwork. Sorry
Q:
are there more variations of 2435, mine doesnt look like the one shown
Answer: Hello, Curt this Salumu from Foodsaver Care. Thank you for contact us regarding our Foodsaver FM2435. Yes, we have a lot of appliances on the Series 2000 and they all look different.
Q:
Does anyone own this machine that lives above 5,000ft elevation? Does it work ok?
Answer: I live at almost 4000 feet and it works fine.
Answer: Works great!
Answer: I have used it for multiple food items and have been very happy with its performance.
Q:
Will this foodsaver fm2100-000 work for foodsaver regular sealer and accessory hose wide-mouth jar kit?
Answer: Thank you for reaching out to FoodSaver®. We understand you'd like to know if your FoodSaver® FM2100 is compatible with the regular and wide-mouth jar sealer and accessory hose. These products are definitely compatible. You may want to check out the FoodSaver website or YouTube Channel for videos on how to use the FM2100 and the jar sealers. You may contact us directly if you need further assistance with your FoodSaver products.
Answer: I bought the jar lid kit and the bag sealer kit, both work with unit as it has external vacuum port.
Answer: I would say yes. The foodsaver vacuum port is the same size on all models. They just place it in different locations on the housing of the unit. You should be fine.
Answer: Well if I could figure out how to hook it up I could probably make it work. The instructions are for a different model and maybe the hose is too. I just want it for sealing the big bags. Work great for that and trying to straighten out the problem is not worth my time.
Q:
It can seal a Mylar bag, but can it suck the oxygen out of the bag also, efficiently?
Answer: Although our FoodSaver vacuum sealing systems will not vacuum Mylar bags, they can only heat-seal them.
Answer: Yes, it works pretty well. Sucks just fine.
Answer: Yes it can... love it
Answer: yes
Q:
How do I vacuum seal jars with the fm2435-ecr ?
Answer: To vacuum seal jars in your FM2435-ECR you must purchase the https://www.amazon.com/FoodSaver-FCARWJAH-000-Wide-Mouth-Regular-Accessory/dp/B016OL1AB6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1475501068&sr=8-2&keywords=jar+sealer
Answer: Apparently there is a way to seal Ball and Kerr mason jars. This is new; it is listed as an "accessory". I suggest you go to www.FoodSaver.Com or call Customer service at 1-877-777-8042. This food saver is so much better than the previous model we had that finally gave out.
Q:
which model will provide the most seals without overheating?
Answer: the FM2100!!

Q:
Can this be hung on the wall & still used?
Answer: Our FoodSavers are designed to be used on a flat surface. Thanks for asking!
Answer: No... the roll would fall out every time out open it up to cut bags.
Answer: No, it needs to be on a flat surface.
Answer: No as the other responses said.
Q:
Are the bags safe for boil in bag?
Answer: FoodSaver® bags and rolls are recommended for normal sous vide cooking in a water bath with a temperature range of up to 185°F when heat sealed using a FoodSaver® brand vacuum sealing appliance.
Answer: It will depend upon the bags you purchase and will say on the bag container.
Answer: Absolutely, but stay with the food saver bags. We heard from some friends that the not all the generics hold up.
Q:
Can I use this vacuum to seal canisters? It has an accessory port which makes it seem like it should, but my unit will not vacuum the canisters.
Answer: You have to use the hose that came with your vacuum sealer for the canister.
Answer: Need the accessory hose and it will work.
Answer: My experience has been with the FoodSaver Quick Marinator and was positive.
Answer: The green pare is not pushed in far enough. Push and twist tell it snaps in. Push hard.
Q:
What is the difference between the food saver v3230 and the fm2100-000 models?
Answer: Hello! The only difference between those vacuum sealing systems is the amount of consecutive seals each one can perform before a cool down period. The V3230 can do 6-8 functions and the FM2100 is capable of doing 15-30 seals. Thank you!
Q:
Can you use this machine to vacuum seal fruit to make compressed fruit recipes like watermelon with vodka and basil?
Answer: the Foodsaver will seal anything that is not sharp enough to puncture the plastic or contains too much moisture. Excess moisture will be pulled into the sealing track and the seal may fail. I put a paper towel in with items that contain a lot of moisture like fresh fish or meat. I doubt if it would seal watermelon but it will seal dried fruit.
Answer: Hello, this is Mateusz from FoodSaver!
Answer: It is best to freeze the item first for at least 10 hours. Once solid, place in the Foodsaver freeze bag and suck the air out. This way, nothing gets crushed and will stay fresh for many months.
Answer: Great idea! I would think so. I've kept soups and broth in the sealer bags.
Q:
How much sucking power does it have? How much air does it remove from the bag before it's sealed?
Answer: As long as you have enough bag above the item being sealed, it sucks out virtually every bit of air before the sealing process starts. If you seal soft items that you want to have retain their shape, you should freeze them first, then put them in the bags to seal and put in the freezer long-term.
Answer: All of our FoodSaver systems will exert 15inHg on our heat-seal bags and 10inHg on our zipper bags and containers.
Answer: This will vacumn out all over the air before sealed.
Q:
How do you stop the vacuum cycle when it is finished before the sealing starts? Also does it hurt to let the seal cycle start without a bag under it?
Answer: You may stop the vacuum cycle at any given time by pressing the seal button. We wouldn't recommend you start the vacuum-seal cycle without a bag in the unit, as the pump may run indefinitely and get damaged. If you have any further questions, give us a call at (877) 777-8042. Our hours of operations are Mon-Fri 8am-8pm and Sat 9am-6pm EST. Thank you!
Answer: Don't think you stop the sealing once the cycle starts. I would not worry about starting it by accident without a bag under it. Maybe over a long period of time your heating elements will be compromised but i would fur that would take many accidental seal cycles. Use mine weekly and it works greats. Good luck.
Q:
Does the fm2100 have two speeds: normal/gentle? i bought the 3220 which has moist/dry and normal/gentle speed settings, but i want a smaller unit.
Answer: This vaccum sealer does have the Moist/Dry Food Setting button, but does not have the Normal/Gentle Speed Setting option. You can, however, press the seal button at any time while the vacuum is being pulled, to stop the vacuum and begin sealing the bag. This allows you to prevent crushing more delicate foods. Our Specialists would be happy to help guide you towards the best vacuum sealer for your needs, and we encourage you to give us a call at 1-877-777-8042. We are here for you Monday-Friday 8am-8pm Eastern, and Saturday 9am-6pm Eastern.
Answer: This model also has moist/dry no "normal/gentle" setting. But I can honestly say, I haven't had any problems. Hope this helps
Answer: It has the Moist and Dry settings, but does not seem to have the two speed settings. Sorry
Answer: No, this model doesn't have two speeds , only one. It also has a dry/moist function.
Answer: I have an FV2100 and it only has the moist/dry settings.
Q:
Does this unit come with an attachment for vaccum zipper bag? do i need the accessory fa2000?
Answer: While this unit does come with the simple vacuum hose attachment for top sealing accessories (like the marinator, wide-mouth storage jars, and bottle stoppers), it does NOT come with that special hand-held attachment for sealing those zipper style bags. There is a model just like this unit (in stainless steel - FoodSaver FM2435-ECR) that does include that attachment. The FoodSaver FA2000 is a $15 accessory that will work with the FM2100 series, but unless you plan to use that zipper bag system, it's probably not needed.
Answer: No, the attachment for vacuum zipper bags is not included. The only accessory is the connector to vacuum special jars and lids. The reviews for the vacuum bags were not that great so I decided not to purchase that accessory. I just give a little extra room in the top of bags I know I will want to open and reseal later.
Answer: No, this does not come with a zipper bag adapter. We would love to locate an adapter for you, call us at 1-877-777-8042 Monday-Friday 8am-8pm and Saturday 9am-6pm EST. Thanks!
Answer: The model I bought does come with a vacuum hose, but I don't know if it works on zipper bags. I have used it on Foodsaver containers and mason jars and it works well.
Answer: No, it did not come with this accessory.
Answer: It has a vacuum hose only.
Product reviews of FoodSaver FM2100-000 Vacuum Sealer Machine System with Starter Vacuum Seal Bags & Rolls, Safety Certified, Black
Amazonian : Really nice vacuum sealer!
This thing is awesome! works so much better than the cheap one we were using before. Being able to select the option to heat or seal is super helpful. WE don't always want to smash the contents of our bags, so being able to leave some air in makes things work way better.
EbonyEyez : Foodsaver Vaccum Sealer
I read the booklet and few times and watched YouTube videos numerous times because the suction function was working well. After going through numerous bags, I ‘think’ I learned that there should be no more than 3-4 inches between the food you’re trying to vaccum seal and where you choose to seal the bag. The machine would seal but not vaccum when the empty space between the food and where I choose to seal and vaccum was greater.
Arthur Joseph Moreau : Can't do without it!!
My wife and I use this product extensively! Our entire freezer and some pantry items are full of these great freezer bags. We do a big shopping about every 6 weeks and put all of the meat items in one meal/prep bag prior to freezing. Buying in bulk makes cooking so much easier. We even cook a dinner for four and freeze the rest the next day for a second easy dinner when we don't feel like cooking. Much better and healthier than ordering pizza, ugh. Don't recommend trying to freeze anything with potatoes as they turn mealy. Not the fault of the bag at all, that's just the veg itself. We bought this one for our daughter for Christmas.
Robert Martin : Do not buy ANY model with Green Accessory Attachment!
This product features a MAJOR DESIGN FLAW in its accessory port. The green nozzle on the accessories that attach there is poorly designed and easily breaks. But wait even better, that part has not been available on their website for months. I contracted customer service and the said "Rest assured that our retailers will surely have this in stock for you" Nope not even close. So basically you will end up with a unit that does not work with attachments. Lovely!
Andrew Kinney : Ordered two and neither would even turn on. ????????
I ordered one and it didn’t work out of the box (no power). I returned it through amazon, and got a replacement only to have the same issue. I tried multiple outlets, read through the manual, looked up YouTube videos. Idk if they are Chinese knockoffs or just defective. Really disappointed.
Egg : Stop wasting food.
This unit has a place to hold upto 11" wide plastic roll-bag with a slide cutter. The slide cutter works even if you have another roll (my 8" roll) that is cut from outside the unit. The vacuum power seems strong enough for everything, but what I don't like is the noise level, too high for me and feel vibration when the motor runs. If anyone has this unit let me know if I have a defective unit because it's loud like a blender. I hope this one will last a long time as my previous (other brand) only lasted 5 day of use. The heat sealer seems hot and wide enough. I notice some other units may have thinner sealing line.
J. Power : Doesn't make a good seal
The first thing I tried was some cooked prime rib I was sealing in order to reheat via sous vide at a later date. However, four out of five bags lost their seal. Didn't matter whether I tried "moist" or "dry" setting. In two of the seals there was an obvious gap and the vacuum never stopped running. In two others, the seal appeared to work okay but the bags lost vacuum within 5-10 minutes. Other problems: The instructions are rudimentary at best. I have never used a vacuum sealer before and was unsure where to place the edge of the bag but the drawing didn't have enough detail to reveal. There was no information whatsoever on the Foodsaver website and I finally found a video on youtube. Just cleaned it, boxed it up and will return it tomorrow.
Marie Cartwright : Very pleased with this model!
Our old food saver stopped sealing at a few spots so it was time to replace it. This one is definitely an improvement over our prior one and works incredibly well. It does not overheat and need to "rest" like the old one did. I have had it for 2 months, however have sealed 1 and a half steers worth of meat, so it had gotten a work out and performed like a champ. I also think it has better suction than our old one did, even when that one was new. I have not yet tried the manual/jar sealer but am looking forward to that feature. I highly recommend this model.
c y mar : FoodSaver 2100 review and warranty comment.
Best features 1) easy to use 2) 5 year warranty.
We found "moist" will not always seal. "Dry" works well; suggest you freeze meats first and use "dry" setting. The manufacturer is giving users a cutter with registration- we found that using kitchen scissors works but cutting "square" is harder than we thought.
Foodsaver 2100 is worth the money so far; our old Foodsaver did not consistently seal.
We bought the Assurance 4 year warranty - the fine print says they only pay after the manufacturers warranty expires... Foodsaver warranty is 5 years? Waste of $29.99
Books are life : Broke after 1st use
We loved our old (25 year old) food saver and purchased this one with confidence. But it let us down. We were able to send it back (Thank you Amazon) and then we went to a local store and bought another food saver and it did not even vacuum one time. The seal worked but not the vacuum so we took it back and purchased a vacuum sealer from Cabala's and it works great.
JGN : Amazing Suction Power!
Just used our food saver for the first time. We got a great price on amazon and have always wanted one. Tested on bagels and was pretty impressed by the ease and power of this machine. Flattened the bagels. Also, the interior storage roll and being able to cut your own bags is seemingly a must. Very happy so far!
norine : That the product works
I purchased this awhile back never used it till recently due to family issues. I cannot get it to suck the air out of the bag no matter what I do. Very disappointed in this product. Maybe it’s user error but it’s pretty straight forward and have tried everything to make it work. I would do my research before buying

Doober : 50% seal failure, Extremely Disappointed!
I bought this unit to replace my 10+ year old Deni vacuum sealer. Which fell from a tall storage cabinet and broke. This unit has really good vacuum. The removable liquid tray makes for easy cleanup. That’s where the pros end.
This thing has around a 45% failure of the seal it creates. Most of the failures are with dry-goods… Rice, Barley, sugar, dried fruit etc. The seals on wet food like meat probably have failed also, it’s just harder to tell when they are frozen. I haven’t thawed any for use yet to see if the seal has failed.
The first use was with the starter bag material that came with the unit. I vacuumed sealed 10 bags of dry-goods only to find that five of the ten failed after 24 Hours. So, I repackaged in new bags and double sealed each end. The next day I had two seal failures. Thinking that it may be the bag material my next attempt was with the Roll that I was using with my old Deni Sealer. I resealed the two failures with the same results one failure after 24 hours…(50% failure rate).
The next sealing session was meats that were placed in the freezer so can’t really tell the results without thawing.
The final session of dry-good I used a third brand of bag material, double sealing each end. The outcome was about a 40% failure rate.
The FoodSaver FM2435 that I have is a piece of junk. It caused me double the work and wasted my time. I would love to send this thing back. However, the box that it came in got accidentally thrown out.
Timothy R. : Good for kitchen use. Bad for hunters.
Hunters- I do not recommend this sealer for packaging a big game animal. It doesn't hold up well to continuous, repetitive use. I used this sealer all summer long and it works great for general kitchen stuff. I especially like the tool that reseals the ziploc bags you can buy. Great for cheese and deli meats. But then, I used it to vacuum seal all the meat from a deer- a Coues deer so only like 35lbs of meat at most. I used it to seal about 15 bags of venison in the span of maybe 1.5 hours and it completely destroyed the thing, wouldn't form a good seal after that day.
In summary, this is great for light, dry-ish kitchen use.
This is not sufficient for big game butchering and packaging.
Judy R. David : Where it is made
Food saver says on many cites that it is made in the US. It is not. It is made in China.
Lizzie W : Takes some practice....
...but it'll do the job once you figure out what position in the machine for the sealing; and how far to hold the bag down just long enough to quickly lower the cover...I had the expensive fancy version which I got as a gift, but when it died...so when I saw how much it cost to replace, this was the best lower priced one...it is always a struggle to do a lot of sealing and sometimes I overshoot it so the vaccuuming out is kinda weak...requiring a do over...so make sure you make your bags long enough just in cast you have to cut off the nicely-sealed top and redo. BUT when you get the positioning right, it does the job well.
Jonaffer : Product broke right after a month of use
This food saver stopped working correctly 40 days after it arrived: the sealing strip that seals the bags stopped sealing completely. At first it was hardly noticeable and the bags would lose their seal after a day or so. Now it doesn't work at all. I wrote an e-mail to the company two weeks ago and have not received a response.
The Bean Counter : Two Thumbs Up
This unit replaced an original Seal-A-Meal I bought at a garage sale last year that got us hooked on vacuum sealing before it quit working. I never knew what I was missing until I got this machine. No more having to thread a bag edge under a clip and having to press down with both hands and hoping the thing would suck air out and seal without repositioning. I like the dry and moist settings which make sealing so much more efficient. It has twice the suction power of my original machine. And the roll storage and built in bag cutter make trying to deal with scissors and keeping track of rolls a bad memory. I didn't think I'd like the shorter cord versus the one I'd been used to but I think it's actually better as it keeps the countertop less cluttered. A definite great buy all the way around.
cathcoug : Save your money, never worked.
The vacuum sealing part of this was non effective from day one. I did all the trouble shooting I could via information I found online but frankly, this was a brand new unit and there is not excuse for this. Save your money.

Mixdplate : 50/50 chance it will work on moist items
From the time I received this item (2019), it's been challenge. It does better on dry items but when it comes to moist items; meats or liquids, it's a 50/50 chance on it sucking enough air out before it seals. I end up stopping it just before it attempts to seal and it sometimes takes a couple tries to work or it just doesn't and I've wasted a bag. I did find that with liquid items like soups/stews, it is better to put it in a regular zip lock style bag, remove as much air as possible out, zip it up and then put it in a vacuum seal bag and vac & seal that. But that is also wasting more product, time, & money.
Dennis Mullins : It's my third one.
Don't think that they break. I've purchased three over 20 years and use them almost every other day. I simply use them constantly. I've even vacuum sealed my wife's polished silverware and it doesn't need repolishing when yearly family celebrations occur. It will keep food in the freezer just about forever. As long as the average homeowner will need to. It's a great product. The bags are a little expensive, but cheaper than buying meat on sale and letting it get freezer burn in the freezer. It's a great product and the models just keep getting better.
Ron : Vacuum hose and port very poor design
THE NEW BOX CAME WITHOUT A VACUUM HOSE OR ANY INSTRUCTIONS. CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS CONFRONTATIONAL WHEN TRYING TO GET A HOSE. I CALLED IN JANUARY AND MARCH. THE VACUUM HOSE THAT FITS IN THE PORT HAS "NOTCHES" ON IT TO HOLD IT IN THE VACUUM PORT. IT IS HARD TO GET IN AND EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO GET OUT. BAD DESIGN. BUY A DIFFERENT MODEL THAT DOES NOT HAVE THAT TYPE OF HOSE CONNECTOR. IF I COUND I WOULD RETURN IT AND GET A DIFFERENT TYPE BUT I PURCHASED IT IN JANUARY AND IT IS NOW EARLY APRIL.
Greatescape : Brand has lost quality
I have a much older version that still works perfectly but decided to upgrade to this version. I use the canister adapter quite often but this has already failed in that it will not stay plugged into the base unit...it just pops out and the only way to make it work is to force hold it into place. Suction is no where in comparison to older unit that I have. Of course I realize I will never hear from manufacturer so I am just letting you know to be aware of the problem that I am having that should have never occurred. Will never buy this brand again. Friend has another brand that is flawless so I will buy it next time!!! Be aware!!!
Shari Hoover : What else can I seal up?
I bought an Anova sous vide cooker and then decided I must have the FoodSaver. I love it! I enjoy taking it with me when I dog sit for other people (who also have much bigger kitchens than I do). I've lost track of how many steaks I've sealed and cooked and I use it when I do sliced potatoes. I slice them up and add garlic paste or olive oil and herbs and then seal them and sous vide them at the same time I am doing my steak. I then pop them in an oven to broil until brown. I've always been a fast food eater after work, but the vacuum sealer and the sous vide have made cooking rather fun for me. Especially since I don't have to do much of the work.
H. Gardner : Works every time!
We've had a vacuum packer on our boat for 6 years now - it's invaluable in packing stuff so it doesn't get burnt in the freezer, or wet when stored aboard. Our earlier one was one of the "automatic" models - fast when it worked, but very fiddly sometimes, especially with things like steak with lots of blood. This model is smaller, takes a bit longer to process, but NO FIDDLING! First time every time - keeping in mind we're experienced vacuum packers and know what to do :)
Robert E. Hodge : The Manual leaves out Needed instructions.
Mine arrived in fine condition; save for the fact that no wall plug in my home will get it to work. NO power light showing. Turn the Operate switch Hard to the right to turn it on. Use about 40lbs of force to force the bag sealer (handheld) green fitting into the sealer unit; it takes a lot of Pull to get it out of the unit as well. An Amazon Support woman directed my efforts to get this working at all. The pump on the ziplock type bag's vacuum ports took 3 tries to get most of the air out of a bag with 4 burger patties in it.
Percy J. Fisher : Reliable and economical vacuum sealer
I did a lot of research on vacuum sealers before I purchased this one. Most persons who purchased this particular model were pleased with their machine. I have had few problems. I use it a lot. It came with a few bags and a roll of heavy duty plastic (the same mil thickness as the bags). After I used up all of the bags, I began making my own bags using the roll of plastic. It is easy to do. There are videos on YouTube showing how to make vacuum sealer bags using modified Ziploc bags. It makes no sense to do so because you can make a superior bag from the plastic roll of material that is compatible with this vacuum sealer. This sealer was an economical purchase, and the bags made from the plastic rolls are also economical.
Julian : Works well but durability is questionable
Works well, but died after 3 years of very light, occasional usage - I may have used this thing 20 times total over that time. I pulled it out of the cabinet one day and it would not power on.
I give it 4 stars because it works well when it works but I don't think it will stand up to heavy usage.
Fortunately it has a five year warranty, so save your receipt. Manufacturer sent a replacement.

Amazon Customer : No Replacement Gaskets Available
This vacuum sealer is really nice, it is my third one and so far is the best. It’s lightweight, and I don’t have to press down on the top to seal. However, I am very concerned about replacement gaskets. I had to replace the gaskets on my other machines, no big deal and it was a cheap fix to a machine that would not suck/seal. However, I have looked high and low and cannot find replacement gaskets for this machine (series FM2400). This means once the gaskets get too old (my experience in 2-3 years) I will have to throw this away! Not a happy camper right now.
Victory : How Did I Survive Without This Awesome Machine!!!
Oh my gosh! How in the world did I live this long without this phenomenal tool! It is the cat's meow! The best thing since air conditioning (I don't eat bread!). What a space saver, food saver, and money saver!!! I've been a vacuum sealing fool!! My husband is keeping close watch on our little pooch because he's afraid if the dog stops near me, I'll seal him up! =)
I often buy foods in bulk and this amazing gem has allowed me to vacuum seal sunflower and other type seeds so that they won't go stale. I make up a large bag of seeds and several 1-cup-sized bags. When I use the 1-cup bags, I'll open the large bag and separate the seeds into more 1-cup sized "to-go" bags. We recently purchased a box of 30 sausage patties that I separated and vacuum-sealed into 4-patty servings, so my hubby doesn't feel the need to "eat them up before they go bad." This also saves a bunch of room in the freezer. The FoodSaver also allows us to section the bulk ground raw meats we buy for our dog and put them into weekly serving sized pouches. I made a lasagna and we had some left over, so I sliced up individual portions and put them into the regular Ziplock bags which I then closed and put into a vacuum seal bag and sealed it up. By putting it into a regular Ziplock first, it prevented a mess when the air was being sucked out of the bag. Nice and neat! Another option would have been to slice up individual servings and put them into the freezer. Once frozen, put them into a FoodSaver bag and seal it OH!!! I opened a new package of biscuit mix and only used a small amount. Since the bag had already been heat sealed, I just put the original bag into the FoodSaver and re-sealed it! SOOOO COOL!!!. The uses are endless!
The reusable zip seal bags are great too. We had leftover biscuits this morning, so I used one of the resealable zip seal bags so that when we want to remove a biscuit, we just unzip the bag, take out a biscuit, close the bag and then re-vacuum seal it. Easy breezy!!! I had lemons and limes that had been sitting in the basket too long and were hard as a rock ... almost needed a hacksaw to cut into them, but they were filled with juice, so I juiced them, put the juice into ice cube trays and froze them. I've attached a picture of the frozen lemon and lime cubes, vacuum-sealed in their bags. Also attached is a photo of some of the things I sealed today. Such FUN!!!
I was going to keep the FoodSaver in a cabinet, but quickly realized just how invaluable this thing is, so I decided to keep it on our bakers rack where it is easily accessible. I'm amazed at how often I use it.
If you have young children, this is invaluable! If you are active and take snacks along for activities such as biking, running, hiking, boating, whatever, again invaluable!!I If you like to bring your lunch to work ... invaluable!! I like to buy raw freeze dried snacks for my dog ... invaluable! I take a few out and reseal them! This product would benefit everyone and anyone.
I originally bought it to vacuum seal make-ahead meals to store in our RV before a trip. All we'll need to do is remove the bag from the freezer and either drop it into a pot of boiling water or cut a slit in the bag and put it in the microwave! Such ease combined with paper plates is PRICELESS!! A HUGE time and space saver!!!
I've had this product for nine days and, so far, there is NOTHING that I don't like about it. LOVE IT!!! LOVE IT!! LOVE IT!!!
C. David : Piece of junk!
DO NOT BUY! Worthless product. I did my research and bought it based on the positive reviews. Mine does NOT perform to the level of the other reviews. The first 3 things I sealed, it worked great! But it has been nothing but a piece of junk ever since. The motor won’t rev up to the rpms needed for the sealer to kick in, I have to mash down on the top with all my might to make the sealer kick in, then it doesn’t seal about 75% of the time. What good is a vacuum sealer that doesn’t seal??? This machine frustrates me and I wish that I had gone with a different model! Buyer beware!
Marie Lanahan : Arrived defective
Was greatly disappointed as arrived defective, called Foodsaver for assistance and they stood by their product and sent me out a new machine which was not the same model, but they were awesome. They took back the defective one and were very nice through the entire ordeal. The new one works awesome.
CMC Ohio : Could not be happier!
This is our third vacuum sealer in 15 years. There's just the two of us, but I hate to shop so we still buy in bulk and stock the freezer. We also freeze berries, melon and other produce. We have used this for sugar and flour also to keep the pantry bugs out. Also works for pierogies and left overs like stuffed peppers or anything that you can't make 'just two'. It gets a workout here and I will say that this is the best one yet. My only complaint is how easily it scratches on the shiny surface, but it lives in the cupboard when not is use so that's not a true issue. We buy the generic bag rolls (Vacuum Sealers Unlimited) and have no issues with them either. Excellent product that just keeps on working day after day!
Andrea Ávila : Terrible product
My husband bought this for me in December. I just used it about 3 weeks ago, I vacuum some carrots and other bags with spring onions. Well, I left them in the fridge (what I have in my basement) a week after I went to get one bag of carrots and I discovered that all the bags, all of them, the carrots and the onions, have lost the vacuum and they were already getting rotten :( So I assume this stuff just, maybe, works to make sous vide and the daily apple snack for my children at school, but nothing long term at all.
NMarsh2 : Definitely would buy this machine again.
I have been an avid FoodSaver fan for many years. I started with a foodsaver that I received from my grandparents that lasted me roughly 10 years with regular use. The only thing that ever went bad on it was the gasket, which was an easy enough fix. I recently got married, and received many amazon gift cards, so my new wife and I decided it was time for a bit of an upgrade. After looking through many different models we settled on this model for a number of reasons.
1. I really like the flip down models (as compared to the models that you stick the end of the bag into a small slot to vac/seal) as it doesn't require as much excess bag waste when sealing.
2. The locking mechanism of the lid is a definite upgrade form my previous model that had no types of lock, and was dependent on how hard you pushed down on the lid to create a seal.
3. The wet/dry options for sealing are new to me as well, but have come in handy in a number of cases. With my previous model, I frequently had to double seal an edge if I was attempting something that may produce some moisture near the seal.
4. The internal bag storage is definitely a plus, not required though.
5. The small hose attachment is handy. It is also nice that this is backwards compatible with all my previous vacuum seal products like my foodsaver jars.
The only con I have found with this particular model is that occasionally I find that I don't get quite the level of vacuum that I would like. My last model had 2 options for length of vacuum just in case you had a tricky piece of meat or something that would trap air. The longer option gave you enough time to work out that air. This one doesn't have that option, so I have found myself having to occasionally abort a seal so I can get the proper vacuum.
This experience is based off of running roughly 2 rolls of bags through the machine with various wet and dry contents. Hopefully this machine lasts as long as my last one did.

I've had this product for nine days and, so far, there is NOTHING that I don't like about it. LOVE IT!!! LOVE IT!! LOVE IT!!!
A definite great buy all the way around.
norine : That the product works
I purchased this awhile back never used it till recently due to family issues. I cannot get it to suck the air out of the bag no matter what I do. Very disappointed in this product. Maybe it’s user error but it’s pretty straight forward and have tried everything to make it work. I would do my research before buying
ComfyShoeMaven : Stopped Working After Two Months
I really wish I had paid more attention to the negative reviews for this, because I never would have bought it. At first, I loved this machine because it did everything I wanted it to do, and it was very simple to use. However, after about two months of use, it wouldn't seal any more, so I'm returning it rather than having to deal with Foodsaver customer service.
Over the years, I had Foodsavers that lasted for a long time before they died on me, so I'm really surprised that this one was a dud. I think now is the time to look at other brands to see if they might work more than two months.
Kristin Hinds : It is wonderful to not experience freezer burn and frost accumulation on ...
This Food Saver is a gift, based on my very positive experience one more than three years with my own. FoodSaver allows me to package foods in serving size (wonderful for 1- or 2-person households); it is very effective--I have stored food for up to a year with no adverse effects, and I don't have a dedicated freezer. It is wonderful to not experience freezer burn and frost accumulation on the food. A particularly nice feature is the bag rolls, which allow custom-sizing bags; I'm not locked into the off-the-shelf sizes of zip-lock baggies from the supermarket. The one thing I have learned is that vacuum sealing bread is not a good idea (unless you want ready-made tortillas).
Robert : Poppin Review
We bought this product because we just bought a 7ft freezer to store our perishable food that can not fit our 2 refrigerators since this COVID 19 epidemic we were buying more food than we usually do because our 2 sons 7 and 15 years old eat like we are feeding 10 grown men. I have OCD when it comes to organizing so I need a vacuum sealer to store our food to extend the life and freshness of our food. it took a while for me to get the right product because before I buy things I have to research it first, then compare products then commit to buying a product especially electronics. Since it was my first time using a vacuum sealer so it took a few minutes to get the hang of it. By reading the manual and looking at the pictures it is not clear how to really operate it so I played with it for a while pushing buttons and sealing my ziploc bags first because I do not want to waste my vacuum bags it did not of course vacuum the bag but it sealed it though. So being brave and crossing my fingers I used the roller bag to make a bag and then stuff the lasagna noodles in it and vacuum seal it. It made a loud "popping" sound hence, the title of the review. It scared me a bit because it was loud I thought I broke the machine that we just bought. I waited for the light of the seal button to turn off so I can take the vacuum bag away and after I did, the bag is still popping even after it was out the device because the noodles were breaking apart inside. Note to self do not vacuum a bunch of lasagna noodles. again. Anyways, the Foodsaver works and it sealed the bag completely. So far so good it did its job.
MAJ MIKE : Work horse that is reliable
I fish a couple times a week and it is nice to save the fish and share with neighbors in a vacuum sealed bag. Tastes as good a month later as it would if fresh. Great for chicken breasts too, we buy in bulk, trim and seal individual pieces. Very reliable. Have used hundreds of times and it has been flawless so far.

RCJL : Simple and easy to use
This is my third FoodSaver product. The last one I had had a lot of automatic features, that never worked right for me. I really like this unit 3 buttons, 1 lever, 1 power light. All the controls do what they say they will do, and they operate the way I expect them to operate. I also have some much older accessories (marinating canister, mason jar adapter) and I got them to work with this unit after reading the instruction and a little experimentation. Salt me simple, but I really like this unit. I gave away that other all-auto gizmo - let it torment somebody else for a change.
