Questions about FishPond Nomad Emerger Net
Q:
is the Emerger a midlength net?
Answer: No, it is more of a hand net.
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: Yes. It is about 32 inches in total length. Net section is a 20 inches long by 10 inches wide. Handle is about 12 inches long.
Answer: It is 32 inches long
Q:
What are the dimensions of this net? overall length? width? net length? depth of net?
Answer: The dimensions should be on the Fishpond website. As a long time fisherman, it's the best one I've ever had (i've owned two, my first one floated away while I was fighting a rainbow)- It has the depth to securely hold a two foot + fish and the reach to go out and net those difficult ones when you don't have someone to net it for you. I've used it from a raft, although a longer handle would be better in that situation. This net would be at home in all Rivers and Lakes in North America unless you were targeting pike/muskie, giant steelhead, or maybe 30 inch rainbows in Alaska. I'm a fan!

Q:
How hard is it to get out of a pack
Answer: Not hard.
Q:
Is there an advantage to a black net vs clear?
Answer: I think it is more for aesthetics. What I have read is the clear net will not frighten the fish like a black net can - that is if your worried about scaring a fish that has a hook in its mouth. Either way this is an excellent net.
Q:
Any sort of warranty?
Answer: We honor all manufacturers warranties, has long as the defect(s) are not caused by misuse of product. Please see Fishponds warranty policy on their official website for further info.
Answer: Not sure but based on the materials used, I wouldn't think you would need one. It is extremely durable. You will not be disappointed. Also, the additional reach is a huge plus. I carry on my back wading, it is about as long as you would want for wading. I had a smaller net and would lose a few fish when netting because I had to get them really close, not the case anymore. Haven't lost a fish with this net.
Q:
Does this net include the clear rubber or the black rubber net?
Answer: The "River Armor" series come with black rubber nets.
Answer: This is going to be black.
Q:
What country are these manufactured in?
Answer: While all design and development happens in Denver, CO, the actual manufacturing is done in China.
Answer: Colorado Usa
Q:
Will this net work with the summit sling pack?
Answer: Yes
Q:
Does anyone have experience w this net in Saltwater? Thx!!
Answer: I do not but I cannot imagine there would be any adverse affect from saltwater use. Carbon fiber frame and plastic netting.
Product reviews of FishPond Nomad Emerger Net
Kevin W. : Five Stars
great item
Tex : Fish On!
Great net. Gives you a little extra reach when bringing the fish in. Fits great in the Fishpond belt system.
Ed Tomsic : Quality
Hi quality net. The size I was looking for.
Louis L. : Would not buy again, but not because of quality issues
There were no specs in the description, so I went with the reviews and ordered it anyway. Big mistake. I'm 6 feet tall, 190 pounds, but I found this net to be too big for normal wading. I have fished big rivers and small streams from South America to Alaska. This net is more than needed, and it's too unwieldy for fishing in brushy area.
The quality in and of itself seems to be excellent. Well constructed, although surprisingly heavy. The netting is tight enough to prevent small fish falling through like some nets.
There is no cord of any kind for attaching to your vest or pack, but there is a hole in the handle to accommodate one.
I returned it to Amazon within 2 hours, and the process was seamless. 5 stars to Amazon for the return process!
I will probably buy this net in a smaller size.
Bretton : Durable (see review) and will hold any size trout you're likely to catch.
I've only had the Nomad Emerger net for a little over a year but I've fished with it about 80+ days over that time and definitely put it through it's paces. It's been with me and netted trout/bass in Arizona, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho and Montana. It's helped me safely catch and release my personal best trout multiple times. The beauty of it is if there's anyone remotely close by you can flag them down while you use the net as a holding tank of sorts so you can get those hero fish shots and not hurt the fish while it revives in the water. I've had small 6" Brook trout and monster browns in the net and being able to keep the fish in the water while you remove the hook (instead of it slapping around on the rocks like I see a lot of folks doing) makes me feel like I'm doing my part to protect the resource and give someone else a chance to catch the same fish sometime later. It will hold pretty large trout/bass. A 26" trout or 7lb bass would probably start to push the limits of it's capabilities though. That said, those fish are far and few between (for me at least, as I've never caught a 26"+ trout/7lb+ bass but have come close and the net felt like it was close to maxing out).
As for the durability, the frame of the net is super tough and rigid. It does get scuffs and battle scars which is to be expected and gives the net character. It should last quite a while if you take care of it and don't run it over with your truck as I did. I had a lapse in judgment recently and forgot that I'd placed my Fishpond Thunderhead sling (with my net/fly boxes in it) next to the passenger side of my truck. Backed out of a parking spot and thought I was running over a rock and kept on going. Well the pack thankfully didn't explode but a few fly boxes did. The net had a big crack on both sides of the net ring but surprisingly still felt sturdy. I bent it a bit to test it and continued to catch fish with it for a few more days. Then as I was hiking a few days later it snagged on a tree branch and snapped, rendering it useless. Still, pretty good after being run over by a full sized truck. Snagging on tree branches is actually a fairly common thing that happens to me when I carry the net. I'm 6'3" and the net rides just above my head on my sling pack most of the time so I can reach back and grab it and while the frame failed because it had been run over (I wouldn't worry about the frame snapping like mine did), it's the net its self that takes more of a beating. If the net snags there's a decent chance that it'll break that link where it snagged. I've fished with a few guides and they all have the Nomad nets and their net baskets are so beat up that they only function for large fish, the small/medium sized ones slip through the holes easily. That said, replacing the basket itself is fairly cheap and after watching a video on how to replace it, reasonably easy.
All that said, after I broke the net I went and purchased an emergency replacement (cheap wood one with a short handle) to get me by on the rest of my fishing trip. I really missed the the reach,
feel, look and functionality of the Nomad Emerger net. I've purchased a second Emerger net now because I just can't go without it. Do yourself (and the fish) a favor and get one.
Pat Farmer : Have no idea!
The product came immediately and is a gift, so was forwarded to the proper family. Have no idea how it is but am sure will eventually hear from the fisherman it went to!
Steven Tringali : Beautiful design. The length is just perfect for wading ...
This is such a well-built net. It is very lightweight for its size. Beautiful design. The length is just perfect for wading solo. It's about as long as I would want to hang on my back. Long enough for a good reach when bringing a fish to hand. Couldn't be happier.
Jaci L VanHeest : Great net for women
I really like this net. It is lightweight and does not get in the way while fishing. I use it weekly and find that it really it easy to manage.
Christine Bechtol : Was a gift for a male person
He was happy to receive. Was on his list of fishing items.
Dixie Carter : Awesome net
My husband loves this net. We were wasting money buying the cheaper nets. Hopefully this one will last I'll let you know if it doesn't.

L. Scott : Top notch
I bought this for my husband. He has been wanting this net for years. He is a very experienced and knowledgeable fly fisherman and if this is his go-to net, then that in itself should speak volumes.
Anthony S. : Awesome
Pricey but worth every penny! Built well will last a long time super light.pairs well with my fishpond summit sling pack. Most of the time I forget I have it it's so light.
Amazon Customer : Great Net!
Very durable and practical. Cost seems a bit steep, but I obviously still bought it ????
