Answer: First of all, get rid of that treble hook if you are doing C&R. It is a pretty weak hook anyway. I like to put a stainless circle hook on mine. If you are planning on release just take a pair of pliers to the barbell, the fish will stay on just as well. I am sure you can find barbless circle hooks on line as well. I bought these and have used a couple of them. A fish broke one of the barbs off a treble hook and on another the hook bent on a fish. I've hooked a few bluefish in the surf, but couldn't land any of them. I'm just replacing with better hooks that are larger to keep fishing with them. They do cast a loooooong way which is perfect for surf fishing.

Fishing Long Island Sound in September. Seeing a lot of fish on the finder. Where ever I threw this thing, it came back with fish!!! Not kidding. Besides hitting Blues and Stripers at all depths, up top, Bonita. Mid depth, Porgy. Bottom, Sea bass added to the list. I fished one of these (rainbow) on a 3 foot clear leader for about 3 hours, never lost it!! (to my surprise Blues always hit the tail) I wore the feathers and paint off this one until I lost it in the rocks. I also bought another set but heavier. 1-1/2 and 2-1/2 oz. I am able to manage the depth and fight the current better. These are bout 1/5th the price of local bought. They must mimic peanut bunker really well. Seriously stellar day with these. Using a mid-light rig from shore, this would have to be killer. You can launch these things a mile- especially with a long pole/light line. If I only had one lure to throw at summer blues and stripers from shore this is it. So versatile.

Good value for the cost. As other reviewers mentioned, the hooks are weak, especially if you’re using them for saltwater.
I replaced the hooks with teasers/flies and used it to target striped bass, see photos. You can also replace with a diamond jig tail or a plain in-line circle hook.
As for most jigs like this the paint doesn’t last too long as it rubs against sandbars and toothy hookups. No worse than other jigs at similar cost.

These lures worked well have caught two fish with them. However, as others have said, I’d recommend replacing the hooks because they do bend pretty easily and they do rust after a few trips in saltwater even after being washed off. But they have good action, and you can cast them SUPER far. Good for surf casting as well as boat fishing, or off a jetty etc. very versatile lure and due to smaller size a lot of species will go after it, like striped bass, mackerel, etc. also note that if the lure hits the rocks, say a missed cast, they will break so be careful with that. This is expected though

I use these offshore- they have good color and definitely catch predator fish. However, these hooks bend and break easily, and rust quickly. I lost several fish (bonita, mackeral, red snapper, etc) to hook failure and eventually replaced all the hooks with 4X trebles. Total game changer. Would happily pay a few dollars more for better hooks with the dressing.

I tried these on a recent fishing trip and landed 6 different species of fish. Sea trout, summer flounder, porgies, sea bass, bluefish and a Spanish mackerel. Killer jig. The only thing I would knock is the treble hook. It needs to be 1-2 sizes larger because I did have many fish spot the hook. All in all a great buy!!

I was super excited to get these lures in the water because they look and feel great. The first time I used them, I lost two small fish back-to-back and was very confused. That was until i looked at the lure and saw that two of the three hooks were completely bent out. The body got roughed up as well, but that is to be expected. Overall, the lure body is very nice but the hooks are absolutely useless. If you buy these, know that you HAVE to replace the hooks before use.
