Questions about BOOYAH Pond Magic Small-Water Spinner-Bait Bass Fishing Lure
Q:
Will the craw colored bait work good in a creek
Answer: Depends on the creek but I believe the natural color will work quite well if its got clear water conditions. I've used it in the New River along the NC/VA border (which is relatively shallow, pretty rocky, and the water is usually quite clear) several times and those smallmouth sure love it. If you're fishing a more stained water creek I'd recommend going with the white or fire bug color. Hope this helps, take care.
Answer: I have not tried it in a creek, only in a pond and and have caught several nice large mouth with this lure.
Q:
Is it suitable for panfish and tilapia? What is the hook size?
Answer: Catch more panfish with this than bass myself. Great in the river for redbreast, bluegill, warmouth, and bass. I don't have a video but we just caught a bunch of bigger than hand size red breast and I caught a maybe three finger wide baby warmouth Saturday with the wasp micro pond magic bait. Have used them for years and will until they quit making them!
Answer: Absolutely not. I tried it. Waste of money. The hook is simply too large for most panfish and similar. These are far better suited for bass and other similar large, easy to catch, fish.
Answer: probably. it has a small profile compared to most spinner baits. the hooks size is 2.0.
Answer: Yes I would say so it is quarter to half of a regular crank as for hook I would say it's a 1/0 or 2/0
Answer: I believe it's a little large for panfish. I'm not sure of the tilapia, as we do not have them here.
Q:
Where on the lure do u tie ur line or swivel?
Answer: You tie in where the A frame comes together at an angle. It's not a closed loop but there is a small bend that will hold steady. Good lure. Give it a try.
Answer: You tie it right in the middle where there is a bend in the wire.
Answer: It is called the "R" bend just to give the proper terminology. That name may more properly describe where the knot should be fastened. Glad you asked. Im.sure you are not the only person wondering about that.
Answer: At the far peak of the bend above the jig head.
Answer: That little u between the head and the spinners.
Answer: In the center of the bend.
Answer: Just on the little circular bit that sticks out at the front on the wire.
Q:
Why the difference in price between colors?
Answer: Popularity. I have multiple different colors. Each one works differently with seasons, water color, and temperature
Answer: probably cause different businesses/venders
Answer: The more the demand the higher there priced!!
Q:
Could I fish this on my ultralight set up with 4lb test or should I use my medium set up with 8lbs?
Answer: Yes, you could use an ultralite setup with 4lb test, but don't know why you would. The hook is too large for most panfish and similar.
Answer: Oooooh yes, it's a nice tiny little spinner bait. Perfect for ultra light set-up! I have ultra light rod and reel rig, and it's just right size for small rigs...
Answer: Oooooh yes, it's a nice tiny little spinner bait. Perfect for ultra light set-up! I have ultra light rod and reel rig, and it's just right size for small rigs...
Q:
what color?
Answer: ultraviolet and fleshtone always works. my H.S. colors as a matter of fact.
Answer: Go with red and black for strikes. Or emulate the colors of your environment. Just my .02 Good luck!
Answer: This is one fine lil bait that catches big fish!! I've won several club tournaments on this bait this yr my favorite colors are white or white and chartreuse and I always put on a 2" white yum grub trailer!
Q:
What's a good trailer hook size?
Answer: 1/0 or 2/0
Q:
How long is it?
Answer: Probably about 3". Try it. I love mine. I have it in red with red and black blades. Paint on the blades chipped a little tho. I use it in a pretty rocky river. Great little rig tho!
Answer: like 3" maybe
Q:
Are these good to slow roll?
Answer: Works for me. This combination of blades is good for slow rolling or ripping. Tight lines.
Answer: Yes, these are great for the slow roll, or if you like a change of pace, they are great to really burn thru the water.
Answer: These things are bass killers! The yellow or greens in my area seem to be the ones bass can't resist.
Q:
what color should i get
Answer: I've had super good luck with this color for whatever reason!
Answer: I had the most bites on black, white and black and blue skirts. Good Fishing...........
Answer: ultraviolet/fleshtone
Q:
How much is shipping
Q:
What is the best color for ponds/ lakes
Answer: I find that I do better with the shad (white) in clear water conditions and i do better with the craw (O.D. green) when the water is a bit muddy where i fresh water fish bass. I've also had good results using the hornet and firefly fishing saltwater even though it's fresh water.
Answer: I like them all but my favorite is chartreuse and white
Q:
why would there not be a weight listed? weight?
Answer: Mine was 3/16ths. and I just checked Booyah's main site, that's the only weight they sell the Pond Magic spinnerbait in. The Micro Pond Magic is 1/8ths. of an oz.
Answer: It’s listed as 3/16 ozs....just have to scan down the page to get total description.
Q:
Show me some Beetle Spinners for small mouths ???
Answer: Beetle Spins are my go to lure for almost every specie! Bass, Crappie, Perch and even Catfish!!
Q:
What is a good trailer for this?
Answer: keitech swim bait 3.8 or smaller
Answer: A rubber worm
Q:
What color works best for fall?
Answer: Gold
Q:
Is the five pack actually boyah brand or is it knock off?
Answer: Boyah
Q:
can we use it in open water sea?
Answer: You can use it where ever you'd like. I believe it is designed for fresh water and not sure how long the rubber skirt material would hold up. The deteriorate from age and often loose rubber and holding skirt on in 1-2 years depending on how frequently used and how well/poor maintained. Also, this spinnerbait is relatively small. It should do well with most fish under 5 pounds but as you hook into larger fish, the metal bar where you tie the lure to the line could bend or break. Personally, this would not be on my top 20 list of lures to use in saltwater let alone ppeanut water sea hope this helps b
Answer: only for bathtub use I’m afraid...
Q:
New fisherman here, what factors play in for me choosing a particular color? Why are some bright neon, white and dark?
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: Mostly water color, very clear= darker lures; muddy or dark water= bright colors. Also, time of year, water temp, etc.
Answer: Depends on water color generally darker water means brighter lure clear water they like the shadows of darker lures
Answer: species; water clarity; sky conditions, i.e. overcast, bluebird, night, day...
Q:
Does the hook have anything to keep a trailer on?
Answer: I am sorry but I don't know what a trailer would be. It's just an ordinary hook though if that helps. It's definitely not weedless! But, it catches bass for sure. Great success with this Booyah!
Answer: not the hook but the jighead has a little notch
Answer: Not sure.I lost it as soon as I threw it in water.Got caught on a tree my line broke and it fell in water..soon as it hit the water it got hit....smh
Answer: No
Q:
How deep does it run
Answer: Surface to 1' depending on retrieve speed. The prop on top is meant to break the surface tension of the water, get noticed, and trigger strikes.
Answer: It's topwater.
Q:
For those avid fishers who have and enjoy this lure, do you use a trailer, and if so, what do you find a good match for this somewhat smaller spinner
Answer: Hello,
Answer: No trailer, just the spinner bait. This is a Muskie catching machine.
Q:
does booyah sell 1/8 oz buzzbait in black?
Answer: no, they don't
Q:
is yellow good
Answer: For me it is. I typically use it in brown murky water and does pretty good.
Answer: Yes! It's a very bright yellow, more like chartreuse.
Answer: There is now magic color. The color sometimes depends on the water color, i.e. clear to dark stained. Do your homework on the areas you fish. Also, fishing videos of the pro's will give you some insight.
Answer: Chartreuse is THE go-to color around the Mid-Atlantic for bass
Answer: Depend on the water color and time of day.
Answer: Works for me .
Q:
Are they good for crappie fishing?
Answer: Hello,
Answer: I have caught crappie on these, yes. Probably not the first lure that comes to mind when targeting crappie, however.
Q:
best color to use?
Answer: Entirely depends on cover, temperature, water clarity, and species of fish you're going for.
Q:
What is the weight of these lures?
Answer: Hello,
Answer: 3/16oz.
Answer: 3/16th.
Product reviews of BOOYAH Pond Magic Small-Water Spinner-Bait Bass Fishing Lure
Jason : Good quality
Pricey but worth it.
Shannon Johnson : Love it.
First time purchasing and using a spinner bait. I normally use worms for cat fishing. This is perfect for bass fishing. Light enough to not get hung and heavy enough to be where the fish are.
John Russo : John russo
I have been using this fishing date Altru out last year but I have not caught anything with it I do not know if it works or if it's me but when I use a different bait I catch fish so I do not know what really is going on so I'm going to give it only 3 stars because I have been fishing with it and I am not having any good luck with it
allelsetaken : Favorite!
I absolutely love these on my lews mach crush medium action spinning rod. Have a hard time finding a 3/16 size anywhere else. I originally bought one at dicks and it's been hooking so many fish I ordered 2 more in case something happens to this one. No joke I've climbed trees to get this back and I will happily strip down to retrieve it from a snag in water. Love it. It's caught every single fish for me so far this summer. A fat 17 inch largemouth included. Came sharp. Ive only sharpened it once since i dulled it on abstructions. Probly 30-40 decent size bass and its holding together well ????
lala : Doesn’t work
Bought these thinking they would be good lures. They are very cheaply made. They stick all together not having any movement like other spinner baits I have. Disappointed with this product
Chrystal stout : Beautiful
Bass love this spinnerbait!! It is beautiful in the water.
Mark S. : Paint comes off
This is a great price but the quality isn’t what it use to be. The paint starts to come off after the first time I used it.
Cassy Gardner : Love it
This lure knows no bounds. I have caught bream, crappie, large and smallmouth bass, and channel catfish with this lure. My daughter (13 years old) didn’t tie the lure on her line well and lost this bait. Luckily I was right there with her and remembered exactly where she lost it. I waited a few weeks for the lake level to go down. Went back to where she lost it and found it. I just knew it would be rusted, but to my surprise it still looked brand new after I cleaned it off with just my hand and the lake water. I recommend this lure for all anglers.
Sierra : Perfect for small pond fishing !
Exactly what I expected!
famjr : it a pertty spinner, fo sho sho!
I've had other BPM spinnerbaits before and they've pretty much always came through for me with the suskie smallies here and even with the walleye and pike, but I realized I didn't have an "in-between" pattern so this junebug one fills that role in no problem. it pairs up magnificently with a junebug Zoom Z-craw Jr that was trimmed a couple millimeters before the hook slots and rigged sideways for that fatter panfish side profile while still being a nice'n'compact presentation, a real power-finesse bait. Hell, it was so pretty I even bothered to fotosketch the pic into a watercolor painting image just to show you it's beauty! Even the blades are really well made, sure, they're not of Hildebrandt-level exquisiteness but look at the bead's reflection on the colorado blade, definitely well-made! The only "problem" spot it had was a bald spot in the skirt but it was nothing that I couldn't easily fix with a but of tuggin'n'shiftin' with the strands for a couple of seconds, besides that it is pretty minty!
Kevin : Great detail
Great details. Havent had a chance to cast it but believe it will catch some. A little smaller than I thought it would be. Its more of a Finesse jig
nicholas : Awesome
Great item. First cast out of the package caught a nice bass. Pulls smooth in the water and sets up nicely immediately upon retrieval. Worth adding to your tackle box.
Amazon Customer : Outdoor
As advertised
Fred Anonymous Smith : Pretty, But Pretty Useless For Me
Waste of money. Fooled by the "small in size" claim. While they work for bass and similar, the hook is too large for the panfish I most commonly seek. Did catch one panfish, but he was hooked from the outside of the lip in. The remainder were bass, which, of course, will eat just about anything. It's hard to NOT catch a bass. Anyway, I donated mine as a package to a charity auction.
Jane : Caught a fish on first cast - no lie!
Literally caught a fish on the first cast. No lie. I like fishing a bunch of lures in one session for fun and first cast caught a northern. Next night it was maybe 15th cast and caught a bass. Fun sunset fishing right off the pier!
Cassy Gardner : Love it

Shekshishekki : Great pond Slayer!
Nothing else worked in this pond then three in 30min on the pond magic!!!
Gary W Chaney : First cast no fish
2nd cast no fish. :)
Amazonian : Small decent spinners
Much smaller spinnerbaits then I thought AND a wrong color was given. Won't bother with returning as they're small and habe their potential uses.
Robert Spencer : Amazing.
Absolutely love it! My best hitter last summer for Pike and Bass! Apparently it’s been working for everyone because they were really hard to find for awhile there! I ended up finding a pack of ten and jumped on it. Must have for the smaller slower lakes. It’s the first and last lure I’ll throw up at camp every day. It’s a hardy lure that survives well against bass, but some of the hard pike hits will twist it up quick. I was fishing this past summer and had reeled it in to the side of the boat and was lifting it out of the water when a monster pike came straight up from the reeds and crushed it! Took me by surprise! I looked down to see the flash of the tail dragging it back down into the vegetation and it was a bear getting it back out. When I finally did land the fish and check the lure it was twisted a good 180 degrees and while I twisted it back, it didn’t quite swim right after that. I’m very glad I have spares!
Matthew Leo : Use three or four times so far; seems promising.
I'm not sure I believe that you need tiny lures for small waters. I used to think you needed to use little lures if you were fishing places that probably didn't have any big fish, but over the years I can't count the number of times I've caught fish that were as small or even smaller than the lures they were attacking. Fish strike lures for all kinds of reasons. There's hunger of course, dominance, fear, curiosity. There are some lures I am convinced fish strike just because they're annoying as hell. I always think you should keep an open mind; if you're not getting any strikes you should change your bait, and if what makes sense isn't working you should try something that doesn't make sense.
That said I've used this particular lure several times in the 100 acre range, which I guess is small water to many folks. I didn't catch any trophies, but each time I got quite a few panfish and a few small bass, which is a good sign.
The lure seems well enough made. It certainly hasn't fallen apart on me, but of course with anything mass manufactured you can get a lemon.
Molly A Bomberger : Love these spinners
Can’t wait to hit the water with this. Paired with a zako or craw, these have been very productive for me.
ER : so far it has crushed some bass in the South East
I like the size, works well, and decent build quality.
Ecbc44 : Well made and great value
My husband loves this lure!
wjdqudtjq : 3.5g spinnerbait
I bought it for use in Finessse fishing.
Joe M : Be Advised Not a Bearing Swivel
The product photo is misleading. It clearly shows a bearing swivel, but when I opened up the package I discovered just a plain swivel was used instead. I may swap out the swivel if this proves to limit the blade's action at slower retrieve speeds. Also, one of the 3D eyes was already missing which of course was the one not visible until you take the spinnerbait out of the package. Amazon is replacing it so not a deal breaker in the end.
Brian : Baits with an Attitude!
Catch big ones all year long with Pond Magic! I take a Creme scrounger trim it to fit as a trailer
J Whatno : Cover the water..
You can cover a lot of water while catching with these lures...
Robert Spencer : Amazing.

C. Harrington : Bass love them
I've been using Buzzbaits for quite some time now and no other brand keeps pace with Booyah. Their buzzbaits are built to last; more specifically: the paint does not chip, the skirt is held firmly in place and will not come loose, and the propeller will not easily bend.
Note: adding a squeaking sound to buzzbaits is very beneficial, as it adds to the overall noise they emit. To do this:
Step 1: Crimp the propeller collar so it no longer moves.
Step 2: Use a pair of pliers to squeeze the end of the collar that the propeller makes contact with. Make sure to rough it up so the contact point is no longer smooth.
Step 3: Hang the end of your pole out the window of your vehicle and drive 10-15 miles at 55MPH or above so the propeller spins and rubs against the collar.
The point of doing this is to wear down the paint around the base of the propeller and cause contact with the underlying metal. This will create a permanent squeaking sound each time you retrieve the buzzbait.
For more information search the internet for "how to make my buzzbait squeek"
Happy Fishing!

RDAIV : All booyah baits are great quality.
Quality lure. I catch alot of bass in Tennessee with my booyah pond magic collection.
Nick : cheap and works
While they do catch fish, the baits themselves are pretty malleable and the paint chips very easily. Also doesn't take much to bend the blades. I have one that the head even sank down the shaft slightly, but maybe it's just squished. Still worth the price.
felix nunez : bass love it!!
Took all of 5 min to land a peacock bass. Good lurr

One of our favorite lures for Smallies and Largemouth
Kelly Hendrix : Works ok
Smaller of the two blades does not spin well in water
Jason : Good quality
Pricey but worth it.

Not my favorite purchase but was ok. The barb in the hook needed to be bent straight when received. For the price it was ok.
