Answer: I use 4lb for trout on it. I bought 2 reels, and after a few hours they didn't want to cast right. Others have had simular problems. I wouldn't buy them again.

Answer: I dont think pflueger makes a spincast saltwater reel, recommend penn fierce 3, 4000 series... If your insistent on a spincast, zebco makes one specifically for saltwater. The 808 I believe. Good luck !!!
Answer: I have two of these reels, and wouldn't buy any of their reels again. Half the time they cast very poorly. You can use any reel for saltwater, but after using it hose the reel out really well to get all the saltwater out of it. Or try typing in saltwater reels to Amazon search to narrow your choices down.

Answer: I am not sure, but I put on 8 lb line. I and it does a great job. Excellent reel and you might need to screw the handle on tighter. After that you will have no problem with this reel. I catch large bass and others and it hold up great.

What is the difference between the scb and scx models?
Answer: I am wondering the same thing. I went to Pflueger's website. It appears the only difference is the gear ratio 3.1:1 for the SCX and 3.8:1 for the SCB. However, it is difficult to tell, because the Pflueger website only lists a 6 SCX and a 10 SCB. I wonder if Amazon has the 10 SCX listed incorrectly?
Answer: I purchased a PRES6USC model which is an underspin reel (mounted to a spinning rod). The PRE6SCX is a spincast reel (mounted to a casting rod). I do not know what the SCB model is.
Answer: I think the scx comes in a box and the scb comes in a blister pack. If you ever had to cut one of these out of the blister pack, you will want to get one in a box. The blister pack is a royal pain to cut apart.

What is the difference between the pres10scx, pres6scx and the pres10scb? I don't want a micro but also dont want one the size of a 808.
Answer: Not sure on x and b difference but the number in the model is the reel size. The 808 are big spincast reels so the reel size will be bigger on them. I dont then a 10 is close to the 808 but check reel size to see about how big it will be. These are small reels for spincasts so a zebco is probably going to be bigger with the same reel size. They are nice reels. Heavy but worth the weight for the quality.

What is the recommended line test for the pflueger president spincast reel
Answer: That really depends on what type of fishing and where. Heavy brush, weeds require a heavier line. Bigger fish require a a heavier line. Anything from 6 lbs to 16 lbs would work. 10 lbs being best all around.
Answer: I only trout fish and use either 6 or 8 lbs test.

Quite frankly, you're better off just buying a cheap Zebco. Nothing special about this reel. It's reel ratio makes reeling in seem like you casted across the lake on a 10-yard cast, the quality of it's build is nothing better than a $25 Zebco, and if you get some water in the reel from condensation or being caught in the rain, expect galvanic corrosion because of the dissimilar metals in contact with each other inside the reel. A couple times I've popped the cover only to see a white oxide powder around the spool and destroying the mono line. I wouldn't recommend or obviously buy another.

The quality of these reels along with the price point is incredible. It's like stepping back in time when things were metal and quality mattered. The build quality is solid. The beating system as smooth as butter. These aren't your childhood spin cast. These look and perform like professional equipment. I've tried the Daiwa Goldcasts, Zebco Bullet, Omegas....... not even in the same league as this. Buy them while you can , I'm ordering 4 more of each size.
