I am looking at an add for this reel for carp fishing and it says both models have a bait runner spool. Does it and where is the switch?

Does the 5500 cast further then the 14000? Im having a problem choosing which reel to get for a 10ft carp rod and 20 or 30lb braid 3oz weight.

Answer: the 14000 is a larger reelbut on a 12 ft rod I get as far as 125-140 yds w a 3 oz plug

Answer: maybe 400 yds but add backing for less

Is this a good reel for 30# braid?

Answer: Hi Jack,30# braid works great on it that is what I run on mine for striped bass. You may need to use a filler because it will take a lot to fill it.

Is this reel braid ready or do I have to put mono on the reel first since the braid to stop the braid from sliding around?

Answer: The reel is not braid ready. You can use a mono backing, or wrap the spool with one wrap of electrical tape and use a uni knot to tie the braid directly to the spool. I've used that method on all my reels with no slippage. It is personal preference.

Answer: My recollection is that it is not braid ready. I attached the braid with a piece of tape. Seems to work fine.

il mulinello e' ottimo ho restituito il primo perche' non chiudeva l archetto al giro completo della manovella ma solo a mano ,arrivato il secondo si comporta allo stesso modo, deduco che sia normale (avro' avuto piu' di 100 mulinelli nessuno lo ha mai fatto) come dire ,basta saperlo ,la chiusura a mano risparmia la meccanica e la molla quindi non e' un difetto
