Which is the main difference between FX1000 and FX4000?

Answer: The main differences between the FX1000 and the FX4000 are line capacity and max drag. I dont own a FX1000 reel, but it is very lightweight. It could be used for smaller fish like small-mouth bass and flounder. I do know its max drag is 4.5 LBS. Personally, I use the FX4000 and I use it for anything from Flounder, to Bluefish, to stripers, and even smaller sharks. I have around 200 yards of 20 lb mono on it and it is a very well made reel for the price.

Answer: The main difference is the line rating. The 4000 is rated for heavier line and more of it. (8/240, 10/200, 12/160) This is read as "8 lb mono line, 240 yards". The 1000 is rated at 2/270, 4/140, 6/110 (i.e., much lighter line).

Answer: The fx1000 is much smaller than the fx40000. I use the 1000 for trout fishing up to 6 pound line and the 4000 would be for larger fish and could take higher pound line. I would never use the 4000 my myself unless you're after some BIG FISH!!!

Answer: Not exzacky. But my 2500 closes the bail automatically when you start cranking. Love it - so much taht we have several of them!

Answer: No, it has a semi good anti reverse. For $15, not so bad. The drag works ok, and it has been a nice "junker" for letting kids and abusive family members use. At the same time, its not so bad that i wont use it myself from time to time.

Answer: To me, it would be the FX2500FB. The 4000 is heavy duty and the 1000 is pretty light. I use my 2500s fishing for seatrout; redfish; flounder; black drum and the like with 7' Ugly Stik Lite graphite rods. It's the only lower-priced reel I've found which will hold up well in the saltwater environment.

This is not a $100 reel. BUT it's great for under $20. I use it with my 4'6" ultralight on the creeks near my home, stringing it up with 4# or 2# mono. It's smooth and doesn't give me the "birds nest" that I've gotten with other inexpensive reels. The drag has always worked perfectly for me.

I have both the 1000 and the 2500 and they both have taken a massive beating ... and they both still work fine.

I wanted to like this reel. Heard good reviews from Amazon and YouTube. I have used affordable Shimano reels in the past and they performed adequately. This one however is dissapointing. The anti reverse broke on a 1 pound surfperch the first time I ever used it. The reel spins backwards now and makes a horrendous noise while doing so. You get what you pay for.

cheap, shimano reel. that means its amazing for the price. if you fish alot, you probly wouldnt buy this reel anyway. (bad gift for avid fisherman) however, if you fish a little and want a cheap reel you dont have to worry about abusing, this is your guy.

You cannot beat this little buger out. My pen conflict started sticking before this little guy did. Still running strong and i fish in saltwater every other day. If you want a trustworthy cheap real go with this one. I have several reals and this one has not caused me any proplems unlike my others including its brother the sienna which crapped out on me the other day.

I selected this real hoping that it would be a quality design and light weight for backpacking. It's exactly that. For six pound test line, I might have done better with the smaller model, because the 2500 is a little larger than I thought it would be, but I still am happy with the purchase.

Great reel, not the only model of it I bought, I have the FX1000FB with 4lb test on a 7.6 ultralight and the FX2500FB with 6lb test on on a 5.6 ultralight. I love both setups, the reels work great and I can cast tiny baits great distances and the price of them is awesome!
