How do you adjust the brakes on these reels?

Answer: The knob next to the handle is used. With the lure or bait on push the release. Tighten the knob until the line just barely plays out while the rod tip is held up. This will help reduce backlash. The star drag is the other adjustment used to set how much drag or resistance to the line being pulled out while reeling in.

Answer: If you mean the drag then it is from the star lever next to the handle. If you are talking about the spool tension the it's from the round knob next to the handle as well..
