can it be used in beach fishing with a 15ft rod? use mono or braid line? i ever used a baitcast but always get my 4-strand braid tangled and cut deep.

Answer: It is best used for jig type fishing but, it would work fine. However, if you are not familiar with bait casters, suggest a large Penn spinner reel for surf fishing.

Matthew Mills : Great reel at a better price

Got this at a great price and couldn’t pass it up. I’m glad I didn’t because it is a smooth reel and really easy to use. Going to put it on a slow pitch rod and try that out since it is so lightweight. It is currently on a light 8’ rod and I have had a couple backlashes but that’s my fault for not being a better caster. I would recommend it to anyone.
