Is this the shiney green tone shown in the picture or the newer gray version?

Answer: It's the 2017 model which is the newer grey one i got... i thought it was the older one in the picture, however it still works and feel great.

Is this the new one ?

Answer: It is the fin nor offshore spinning reel 6500. But it's not the gold color one i got when i bought it off amazon, it's silver-grey in color. I added picture to my review on amazon if that helps.

Did anyone have a hard time putting the handle on? It seems to be a different size.

Answer: It should go right on, the may have different size handles. But you would know right away. I have two of they are brutal work horses. Give fin nor a call they will help you, good luck. Bill

Answer: I have absolutely no idea how much line this spinning real holds but if your the same person who asked about the fin nor lethal star drag reel and i was going to make a choice for deep sea fishing i would go with the drag reel. thanks for shopping with me John.

Answer: The 6500 is an awesome reel! Super Smith... The drag is incredible....I bought two of them .... The reels are a little on the heavy side but are bulletproof.... I’m an Offshore Charter Captain in SWFL in use them exclusively spooled with 50lb power pro braid... My clients love them ... I love them.... Well worth the money.....

Headed to costa rica, which would be good for chunking plugs from the surf? I was looking at 6500 class. Travel rod recommendations? Any thoughts?

Answer: I paired the Fin-Nor 6500 with a Ugly Stik Tiger Lite 6'6" jigging rod and used it offshore for red snapper, Grouper and anything else that happened to get hooked . This combo was a beast and handled anything I hooked. If I was casting I would use a longer rod.

Answer: Yea it would do great as long as the rod you’re putting it on does well for long casts with lures too but the line comes off this tell very nicely

I can't say enough about this reel. I now own four of them. The 9500 holds about 500 yards of 80lb. braid and the 6500 holds around 500 yards of 65 lb. braid. The drag on these reels are phenomenal. It is smooth and stops the biggest of fish. A 50 inch red drum couldn't take it. Several sharks up to 6 feet. These are fishing machines. So far5 years with one 6500 and 3 years with the 9500. Can't find a better more dependable reel.
