Does this have a bait clicker?

Answer: This model does not have a bait clicker. This reel is designed for freshwater fishing and the drag is silent. Most reels with bait clickers are geared toward saltwater fishing.

Are their reels really made in USA?

Answer: Not all Ardent reels are made in the USA. I have the Ardent Apex Tournament 6.5:1 R and it's made in China like most reels are. However, Ardent does have a few more expensive reels that are made in the USA. Go to Ardents' web site and you can see where each reel is made under the specification section. So far I am very pleased with my reel and you can't beat their 3 year warranty.

Answer: The Apex is made in China. I saw the Ardent Edge today and it was tagged as made in USA.

How does this reel stand up to saltwater ?

Answer: I only use it in fresh water!

Great reel for the price. Lightweight and super smooth.

The reel was very good the first time I used it. The next time out it started to make clicking noises when casting. It slowly got worse. I spun the drum by hand. The drum was catching on something. But it wasn't catching every time. Wasn't catching every cast either. I bought a Abu garcia pto max. Far better reel for the money. Both reels are rated in the "Top Ten Baitcasting Reels under $100".

Freakin' awesome. All there is to it. Any of the Ardent Apex Series reels are solid, smooth, durable reels that have no problem handling bruiser bass after bruiser bass.
