What is its line capacity?

Answer: I have about 375 yards of 40lb mono on the reel. It's been more than enough for the San Diego/Coronado Islands waters. Usually trolling and bottom fishing. Good luck.

can i use this reel for ca. white seabass fishing

Answer: This reel has replaced the Baja Special, prob a little too much for white seabass

Answer: Yes this is quite capable. This replaced the Baja Special

Can the Narrow one be used on A jigging rod? And is it really heavy?

Answer: Yes it can, the narrow is nice cause you don't have to thumb that much line back and forth. The narrow side and low gear is great, but It is pretty heavy though.

Answer: No because you can't cast it. Real heavy reel also. Great for shark fishing though.

Does it cast far?

Answer: Yes, similar to the Penn Torque.

I love this reel! It casts a mile (once you learn how) and has great line capacity. I would try getting it locally though because it’s not any cheaper on Amazon and the one I received (and promptly returned) was used (and sold as new). It even had salt water corrosion on the reel clamp bolts and dirty grease everywhere. Not cool Amazon.

Very nice. The upgrades from the original Baja special are significant. The machined frame, robust handle and stainless gear are worth the extra $$$.

I had one of these back in the 70s and it was as solid as it gets. This made in the USA build is a referring return of manufacturing to the USA quality we all knew Penn reels would provide no matter what model conventional reel we used.

This new sort of quasi-special version is almost too beautiful a piece of engineering and manufacture to even use. But not using it would be an insult to the craftsmen & women who build them. I haven't been able to fish for a could decades and now retired I have the time. This reel was the start of me rebuilding a fun set of gear to go and enjoy the world....and catch some fish too. :D Like it so much I even added a Torque 2 5500...oh boy, gonna have fun with these!

I did buy this for surf fishing not only offshore. I spooled it up with 50lb braid, a backing of 50lb mono to save money on the otherwise wasted braid then a top-shot of 20lb mono as a leader for most needs (maybe 20yds of this top-shot. It should be ideal for surf and I can always change the top-shot to something beefier when the situation warrants. This setup casts like a dream on the 12' Ocean Master Surf I bought at Bass Pro Shops to go with it. Easily casts 100-140yds with a 6oz weight depending on where I need to drop the bait.

It's a Penn!!... Built like a tank!..Have to educate my thumb again because I got lazy with mags...Spool spins really really fast so must practice...My expensive abu garcia all broke in 2 years.. Still have Penns since I was a kid...(50 year old reels hand me downs which still work)

I've purchased plenty of Penn products over the decades and they have all been great. By "great" I mean the value and quality measured up to the price I paid for the products. Like all manufacturers Penn has a portfolio of products at various price points and I purchased some of their low end and some of their high end over the years. I was excited to pick up the made-in-America Penn US Senator because it is based on a proven Penn design and has high quality components. But the unit that I received did not live up to my expectations of Penn quality at this price point. The entire outer rim of the left side plate (the side that does not have the handle & gears) is chewed up like somebody took a deburring tool and tried to manually create a beveled edge along the entire circumference. I include a photo of the outer edge of the right side plate for comparison. That side has a straight clean edge. Also, in the vicinity of the reel foot, it may not be easy to see in the photo but there was sloppy application of grease near the threaded holes. When I unboxed the reel the entire outside of the reel was coated in grease. Finally, the reel does not feel smooth when I crank the handle. There is the faint whisper in the ear and a roughness in the hand that feels like there may be bare metal on metal touching inside the reel somewhere. I'm going to open it up and re-grease and re-lube the reel. After that it should be good to go when fishing season opens up again this summer.
