Will this reel handle 17 lb. fluorocarbon line ?

Answer: Absolutely! It can handle from 8lb test to 35lb test with grace and ease. Set your centrifugal brake with 2, then do the drop test of your lure and this reel will cast perfectly every time! Side cover pops off easily and it can even be oiled from an outside screw. I have 5 of these, the Piscifun Perseus is the best reel you will ever own!! I should know, I’ve been fishing for 45 years.

Answer: no idea. You mean for the line to go onto the spool? It is comparable to the others in the industry. Reel caught several redfish and a largemouth bass last year and is a good quality item.

On the description, it notes 10 pound mono capacity, does that mean you can't use anything bigger than that?

Answer: When it says that it means that will 10 lb of mono you have a better casting distance then using 15 lb of mono that's all

Answer: You can, but with increase in line size you decrease capacity.

What is the line capacity on this for 30# braided?

Answer: Well, I can’t rightly say, but much more than you’d ever need. I use Piscifun’s yellow braided and their fantastic new green 30LB test braided that’s called “Lunker” line, and it is about half the thickness of regular 30LB test braided. I’ve caught fish that seemed like they were 100 yards away and my line spool was still over half full. It holds a lot of line! Buy this reel! I have 4 of them, and love them. Backlash is a thing of the past with the Perseus.

Answer: When the fish is pulling drag, no, when you thighten the drag yes.

Answer: You could consider it as a lock to the side cover. You press it down, you spin the side cover and you take it off.

Answer: Depress the lever and roll the cover down.

Like the dual brakes. It is a little more bulky then I expected, but still a nice reel. I use it on my crank bait set up, but that will probably change. Really a great value for what you get. It’s pretty smooth and I haven’t had any problems with it. The tension knob seems tight and hard to turn, but that might just be mine. The pair job is really nice on the reel.

Brandon Burrows : Save your money and go with KastKing instead.

It's meh. I'm fairly underwhelmed with it. I had it on a 6' rod and a 6'6" rod. I tried 12 lb fluorocarbon and 10 lb braid. With each setup it just struggled to cast. Magnetic brakes were completely off and it would still struggle. Maybe could get out to 15 feet. If you went too loose on the tension it would backlash. It does look cool though. For the same amount of money I'd go with a kastking. I have their cirxus reel in the same gear ratio and it's a night and day difference. Smoother than my Lew's pro! Even with 15 lb braid on a 6'6" rod the kastking triples the distance on this reel. Just save your money unless you want to buy mine off Craigslist!

I have several baitcasters, some were expensive others not so much. After fishing with it on a 3 day trip I was really impressed with the quality of this reel. After getting the casting dialed in, they work better than most of my baitcasters. I'll be buying more of them.

The Piscifun perseus is a pretty nice reel. I apprectate the neoprene reel cover included in the box, it’s a nice addition to the new reel. The power of the 18.5lb drag surely will help to wear out and bring in large fish. This is the second Piscifun baitcaster I’ve ever owned, the first I bought was the Torrent wich I am extremely happy with.

The two pics show where it looks like someone touched up and dripped nail polish but I dont know for sure.

For the price, this is as good of a baitcasting reel as you are going to find. The action is smooth and it looks really sharp. Also comes with a neoprene reel cover (nice surprise for a reel at this price point).

I own 3 of these reels now, I bought the first one 18 months ago but didn’t want to offer my thoughts until I’d used them for a while. First of all I see no reason to buy any reel in the $70~$120 price bracket when you can pick up a Piscifun Perseus for 45 Bucks, it will function just as well and last just as long. Besides that most mid priced reels are made in China anyway, you’re just paying for the Brand name. Secondly it’s an easy reel to set up and it cast very consistently, pretty much set and forget for the same lure weight.

There are better reels out there, for instance my Shimano Curado DC is a better reel by far, but one of those will set you back $250. The only down side is that it is only offered in one gear ratio, wish Piscifun would offer it in a few ratio’s, but other than that it’s a winner.

No matter how it was set up the thing would backlash almost every cast. I would keep the thing over tightened so the lure barely dropped. Some times depending on lure weight I would tighten it so that it wouldn’t drop at all and the thing would still backlash. I threw it in the river with disgust. I will never own another one.

I tried 10-30# test in both mono and braid, paired with 1/2 to 1 oz lures with light to no wind and varied my casting technique. I put the wind to my face, side, back, nothing mattered. No matter what combination of line and lure weight I tried this reel backlashes BAD!!! EVERY CAST!!!! The spool tensioner is terrible for minute adjustments and the spool is small compared to my previous baitcasters. Looks great, feels great, great price, but it just plain doesn’t work. I’ve never had a baitcasting reel suck this bad. The spool tensioner doesn’t allow you to really get the reel dialed in for the lure. The lure either drops too fast or not at all. I believe that’s the primary issue (I’m not an expert).

Some of the products were either unavailable or discontinued so when I learned this one was on clearance I decided to purchase it before they were all gone. The reel seemed great at first. Very reasonably priced. It casted well at first and the drag system worked smoothly; it still does. However, it does not last. It has only been used about fifteen times total; very light use in saltwater and never sprayed with saltwater, much less submerged. Wiped down with freshwater rag after every session. As of several times using it ago, the cast control system is completely shot. Both of them. With all six pins of the centrifugal system engaged and the magnetic cast control on ten (maximum), the spool spins with absolutely no resistance. I am very disappointed. Next time I will buy a more expensive product from a more reputable brand.

After owning a Perseus bait caster I had to have another one! With its smooth and excellent performance you can’t go wrong on this reel for the cost and quality. The reel offers you a great 6:3:1 gear for mordate retrieve with 26.8inches per one revolution of spool along with the amazing leverage you get from the longer reel handle on your catch reeling in your catch hasn’t been much easier especially on a big fish, with a light weight body weighing no more then 8oz makes casting and lure fly across the water with ease along with 6 ball bearings (including roller bearing) for a smooth cast. A bonus feature is the the removeable filling-hole-screw for easy lubercation on the go with out taking apart the reel to removing the right cover to oil up your gears if needed, but on purchasing the reel right out the box the reel comes lubercated just with the right amount of grease and oil so it’s good to go right out of the box. Just received my Piscifun Perseus. Very nice baitcaster fishing reel. Although it has a little play in and out on the handle shaft it's not that big of a deal. I really like the all the higher end part's you used and were still able to keep the price under fifty dollars. I have your SAEX Premier reel also. Very good reel. How could anyone honestly think this was a good reel? Even with the lightest cast or toss, this reel always got tangled. This is the WORST reel I've ever purchased. I tried braid and mono. Tangled casting, dropping, reeling in, etc. You name it. Piece of junk. I returned it. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

Another amazing reel from the awesome people over at over at pacifun. The Perseus is some what similar to the Piscifun Torrent with the power handle getting that extra leverage on catches along with the filling-hole screw for adding lubricant in the gears without fully disassembling the whole reel to do so. Also runs just as smooth, the only difference would be the 6:3:1 gear ratio for a slower more moderate steady retrieve that works great for many hard plastic and soft plastic lures and baits. After putting this reel to the test I'd have to say that the Perseus is another great reel that gets the job done on the water especially with the 18.5lbs drag. I highly recommended this reel if you fish in between a high gear ratio and a slower gear ratio reel, then this reel is for you whether you are a seasoned angler or someone just getting started in fishing this reel is for you!
