Questions about RITE-HITE Best Buoy-Marker Accurate UV-Coated - Great for Marking Your Favorite Fishing Spot with 75 feet of String/6.5 Ounce Weight
Q:
Would these work on crawfish pots in lakes in the sense of the Bowie goes down quicker than it can unravel will it unravel back up to the surface?
Answer: They unravel real fast but I never tied anything to the string except the weight they come with. How heavy is a crawfish trap?
Answer: I use them to mark crappie locations in lakes with little current, they work great for that. Not sure about your question.
Answer: Yes. The line sometimes but rarely gets tangled which prevents it from unravelling though. As they age and get uv exposure they can crack and take on water, but I drill holes in each end and fill with expandable foam to prevent that.
Answer: Not sure. I just toss mine over the side of the boat to mark structure. For that, they work great.
Answer: I’ve never used markers for that purpose, but if the line wasn’t twisted inside itself there is no reason hy they wouldn’t unravel
Answer: The way that’s made it should unless it get tangled up but the line will be too weak to retrieve the pot if didn’t have another way
Answer: It should, I use for Buoy on catfish Bait instead of jug. It rolls out pretty quick when I used 1/2 lb lead weight That went down about 15 feet.
Answer: Yes if you don’t forget the Bowie’s max depth.
Answer: These buoys unwind pretty fast. That being said, if the buoy does get pulled under quickly it will rise as long as the cord doesn't snag.
Answer: unless the line is tangled it will float back to top
Q:
Will those hold in a really strong current?? Seems like its not enough weight
Answer: I have mostly used them in creeks that feed the river, they work fine for that. I would add more weight if I moved to a stronger current.
Answer: well i never had problem with them holding here in Oklahoma.
Answer: I really like these, but I have found that if the bottom is weedy wind can cause them to drift on still water.
Answer: I fish in small to median large Lakes works great
Q:
What are the dimensions of this scrap? really? can we have some sort of better description? is this small .. large? something.. maybe? please?
Answer: Dude, haven’t you seen any marker buoy in person? It ain’t rocket science. You might want to try to read further for a description before asking an asinine question like that
Answer: The Buoy is 6" x 4.25" x 1.5"
Answer: 5.75" x 4.25" x 2"
Answer: Scroll down and click on "Features & Details". All the details are there.

$10 at bass pro why so much?

Luis Escobar : Works as it should
Works great
warrenmom : Check the knots
I would’ve given this 5 stars however we threw it in the water first time knot wasn’t tight and lost the weight. Check the knots!!!
Amazon Customer : Find the fish and mark the location.
Easy to use, easy to see.
Ronald H Brown : ++++
Mark fishing spot
Tim K : Buoy Marker
A ok.
Jimmie R. : Good on windy days
I like these much better than my round buoy markers. They do a much better job of marking my spot on windy days. The weight does not snag as easily as the last set of bouys I had.
marcus e : Works great
Works great!
S. Shotwell : They work properly!

James davis : Great product
Works well. What I needed.
jr Arredondo : Refund
I did like the color so it can been seen from a distance but one of mine sank n the other one takes on water
Kevin McNeely : Cheap but works
Works well ????????
Casey Saunders : Good Product
Works as expected. I like that the two units 'pop' together when not in use. I did have to fully unwind then rewind each to get them to unspool correctly when on the water.... a minor issue (as the string was wound a bit too tight on arrival). The weights are sufficient to mark a spot and the flat shape keeps them from unwinding further once the weight hits bottom.
Tom R : Best Buoy for the price
Works well. I like it
Daniel A. Hripak : No good for moving water
No good for anywhere there is current, takes way too long to reach bottom.

Thomas Swartz : Nice heavy weights and easy storage
Nice heavy weights and easy storage. The nickel plating will eventually chip and expose the steel core which will rust so I'll be giving the weights a quick plastidip coating to seal them a little more and protect the nickel. Price is good.
Pete : Total Fail. Don’t buy. Mine going in garbage,
Doesn’t unravel. Very Disappointed. Had to drive boat to go and retrieve. Great concept..Poor function. Just got back from a fishing trip today. After I unload my boat, I will LITERALLY be throwing these in the garbage. I tried everything..unwinding and rewrapping on boat,..throwing out with six feet alraedy unraveled, etc..

Works in windy conditions. But to be honest after I got them I haven’t used them much.

Cynthia F. Rabe : Five Stars
good value
Daniel A. Hripak : No good for moving water
No good for anywhere there is current, takes way too long to reach bottom.
Amazon Customer : Broke on first use but manufacturer corrected the issue.
CHECK THE KNOT around the weight. First time I used one the weight came off the string and sank to the bottom of the lake.
UPDATE: A week after losing the weight off the first one, the 2nd one also lost the weight. I contacted the manufacturer through their website support form and they immediately responded and shipped 2 new weights. I made sure to tie those on extra tight. Based on this great service I upgraded my rating from 1 star to 5 stars as the product is really good.
Scott Melvin : I do feel that if they tied a better knot, they'd get some better reviews
The only reason this item doesn't get 5 stars, is because they tie a weak knot with the string when they ship them out. I supposed it's not a big deal, but not everyone apparently re-ties, and some people have lost the weight. I do feel that if they tied a better knot, they'd get some better reviews. Overall a great product.
Luis : Nice
works like they are supposed to.
jesse b. robins : Exactly what I needed.
Great markers.
D Harlan : Works
Works
Amazon Customer : quality product
when fishing he can put them in the water to mark his fishing spot,
Amazon Customer : Weight Fell Off!
The weight fell off on the first throw. These are decent buoys, just make sure to test the knot on weight before throwing them in the water.
Big Dave : Weight came off FIRST time I used it
Disappointing, on my FIRST USE of one of the markers the weight came off the end of the cord. Good grief people, how hard is to tie a decent knot in a cord??? And, no, the weight was not 'hung up' on anything significant. A minor tug on the cord and the weight disappeared. The cord end was still shaped in a 'knot' configuration so I KNOW the knot was at fault...
CCBIRDDOGMAN : Five Stars
A+
Steve : Great marker buoy for the price.
These are nice buoys... I've owned and used these for almost 10 years. The fact that the weight snaps into the float and the floats clip together when not in use make keeping your boat neat and organized a breeze. When deployed the flat shape keeps the line from unspooling in wind and waves so the float stays over the spot your trying to mark. The bright color makes spotting them easy too.
The only Con is.....
I would not recommend leaving these in your boat all the time (especially if you have drastic temperature changes through out the seasons) because they can expand and contract leading to cracking. (see picture) Granted I've had these a long time and even with the cracks they still float so I still use them. (I just have to drain any water from them before storing them.) If they ever do completely become unusable (sink) I would buy another set as the work great and I got my money (and then some) out of this pair.
Melody : Best Buoy for Flatwater Kayak Slalom
I've been using these to make a flatwater kayak slalom course on a lake or in light current, so a little different than fishing use. Bought 3 sets for a total of 6 buoys.
I retied the knots on the weights as soon as I got them, as other reviews recommended. The knots I retied are holding great so far.
The buoys are great. They hold their place in wind. I've tried them in light current and they seem to do well. I want to try them in heavier current, but that will have to wait until spring. They sure are going to make winter paddling more interesting. The flat design and the fact that they clip together makes them easy to store when not in use. I also like the fact that the weight has a place to clip in to the buoys, which makes for easier transport and storage as well.

Rick : Good value
These work great. I use them in my kayak to mark fish locations they're large enough to see for a distance yet compact enough to store with ease.
D. Diekmann : Small, pack well, and visible...just wish they locked together better.
Much smaller than to bottle style. Would give 5 starts, but they don't lock together very strongly and didn't remain together in my pack.

Weight came off one when using but I am not certain if it was a defect or my fault. Line may have gotten damaged before use?
