Has anybody checked this scale against objects of known weight to see if it is accurate?
Answer: Yes I have, it was the 1st thing I did when I received it. I am not sure I would want to depend on it's accuracy to win a bass tournament, but it is very close to being right on. It's a nice scale.

Does it weigh in pounds and ounces, like 3lb 8 oz or pounds only like 3.5 lbs, or both
Answer: It weighs in lbs like 3.5lbs or it weighs in only oz like 52.7 oz. Hope that helps.
Answer: I know it displays it like 3.54 but I have not checked it you can choose another display option.

How can it be waterproof with a battery slot that clearly is not water tight?
Answer: I dont think it's waterproof but????????♂️ maybe water resistant

Answer: Hi. Bought this for my boy friend, used for first time in Hammond NY at Black Lake. Display if I recall was about 1” high and 3 “ long. It worked fine. Bragging rights, caught a 4.20 lb large mouth. Next day caught three nice ones. Guys told me to swim back to cabin if I caught any more. Only my 2nd time in my life I fished.

There is nothing more frustrating than catching a monter fish and your scale is now working from dead batteries. Does this scale eat batteries?
Answer: not sure about that but I regret buying it, I don't use it, seems not to work in the 2-5 lb range.

I got this Kraken Bass Scale a couple of weeks ago and wanted to put it to work and see what I thought before writing this review. I have been following Kraken Bass on Youtube and on his blog for a couple years now and have loved all the great tips he gives. When I saw that he had his own scale for sale, I just had to try it out. It showed up in nice, clean, and simple packaging that was easy to remove without having to get out the scissors and hack away. After putting a couple AAA batteries in and turning it on, it lit up and was ready to get Kraken. I liked that the screen appeared bright and clear. It even greeted me with a, "HELLO." The red colored rubber paint on the handle feels nice too and gives a little extra grip when handling it and a fish. I like the little magnet insert on the back to hold the hook in place so it doesn't get hung up on everything in your gear box, although it might need to be a little stronger to keep it from coming loose as the hook on mine will fall off the magnet if I give it a good shake which might actually be a good thing when you're holding a fish and getting the scale out to weigh it. Last thing I noticed upon opening was the Kraken Bass logo on the front which looks pretty sick.
I loaded the scale in my fishing gear and went fishing to test it out. After watching lots of Kraken Bass Youtube videos, I felt confident in catching something decent enough to weigh and boy was I right. This scale even seems to bring some good luck to the user as I waded out with it in my pocket and flung a big senko near some reeds. I suddenly felt a tug on the line and ended up reeling in the biggest largemouth I have ever caught. I slipped it on the large hook of the scale and got me some truth. It weighed in at just over 5 pounds! A few days later I went fly fishing and made sure to put this in my float tube. On the first cast I stripped in the biggest smallmouth I have ever caught! I was super stoked and loved how easy it was to use the scale. It quickly gave me the weight as well as options for kg and ounces if you might prefer another unit of measure. The measuring tape is another awesome add-on which can help the user get some more truth. It says it goes to 1m which is about 39 inches, but when I pull the tape out on mine, it only gets to about 32 or 34 inches before I can feel a lot of resistance and it feels like it might break if I keep pulling. I am a little worried about the tape measure breaking if I use it a lot, but so far it has done what it needed to do.
I would definitely recommend purchasing this scale. It looks good, is easy to use, and has features that will help you know exactly what caliber of fish you are catching. I love this thing and I always make sure I don't leave home without it. I can't wait to use it some more and maybe break some more personal best records. Lets get Kraken!

Our Bass Club purchased 5 of these scales so that we can weigh on the water and then release the fish only bringing one big one to the scales. When I ordered they were guaranteed to be to me by 9:00pm on the day prior to our next tournament. The tournament was about 200 miles away and I waited for them to come. They never arrived. Needless to say, I got little sleep that night having to drive after waiting until 9:30 pm. They showed up the next day.
3 of the 5 scales weigh identical with the other 2 a little off. I think that is pretty good for a scale in this price range. The read out is bright and easy to read even in bright sunlight. I recommend this scale for the average fisherman, I would not use it to chase line class records and require it being certified. Our club will be buying more.

Bre : Solid, Accurate, and Convenient
I didn't know what I was missing until I used this scale. I won't leave home without it. Solid, Accurate, and Convenient to carry! Since it is small and the hook stays tucked up with the magnet, it is always in my gear bag, compact and ready when I need it. I not only measure weight, but am interested in length and girth if I catch that once in a lifetime fish to have a replica made. I do a lot of different fishing and am constantly switching out boxes but this scale will never leave my bag!
