What is the upgrade?

Answer: 1. The handle is widened.

When set for pounds or ounces and the weight is 4 1/2 pounds, does the display read 4.5 pounds or 4 lbs 8oz?

Answer: Ounces. So, 2 lbs displays as 32 ounces. If lbs, then is registers 2.0 pounds and 2 1/2 lbs displays as 2.5 lbs, not 2 lbs 8 oz.

Answer: Yes it does, the tare/zero is listed under the specifications. I was using this to measure wet towels, and was using a small 1 gallon bucket, so I added the bucket, and zero'd it to remove the weight of the bucket.

I'm confused by the pictures. Is the hook pointy or not?

Answer: No, the hook is not pointy. It is made not to put another hole in fish's mouth. I slip the hook under its gill or use a fish grabber and weight it first (without the fish) and set that weight as the tare/zero. Which then, when weighing the fish, the grabber's weight is not in the final number.

Answer: It is a fish scale made for weighing fish......common sense should give you your answer, but since you asked, I have to assume you need someone to answer for you...... As long as the channel catfish you catch doesn't weigh over 110 lbs., then yes, you can weigh it. Good luck!

Tried to weigh grass seed in a bucket, was able to “tare” the bucket; but scale would lock in on the weight of the bucket. Had to fiddle with way too much to weigh the grass seed in the bucket.

This scale has worked pretty good so far. I've been using it for about 2 months now and have weighed fish from .25 to 15Lbs. It seems to be holding up pretty well, the beep sound when turning it on has gotten a little strange sounding though. The tape measure is a little chinsy but it works to get a quick measurement.
For the price I'd say give it a try if you are in need of a scale.

Con- Would not recommend getting wet... which the things it weighs (fish) come from a thing called "water" which is pretty wet. (crazy I know). I've had fish slime on this unit and had it rained on, did make some goofy sounds powering on, then went away. Does not talk about water resistance or waterproofing through description.

I believe the only true con based on use would be the tape measure being comically small. Why have a 110 pound scale if the tape only goes 38". I would say the tape is a great idea, but it's pretty worthless if you intend to catch fish bigger than 15 pounds, which you are or else you wouldn't order a 110 pound scale. Many can solve this by measuring half the fish and what not, sure that works... But the product should have this solved for you. Make the scale another inch longer to hold another 30 more inches of tape measure and the problem is solved. In respect to luggage use, the tape measure probably is perfect, for fishing, not so much. I would recommend to anyone, given they have room for a real tape measure if fishing for big game.

Bought this a few months ago. I fish a lot as I live on the water, saltwater. The scale looked good and when I first turned it on it seemed to work. Trying to use it with a live fish is another story. At first it would register a weight although often the weight was not very accurate. That was as good as it got. Most of the time it registers no weight and this is when I have a large fish attached. I can test it by turning it on and pulling on the hook and most of the time it will show a weight but with a live fish no such luck. I have used fish scales for years and this one is, as another reviewer mentioned, a piece of junk.

Bought this to see if my other scale for weighing bass was accurate. Used it to weigh a 2lb roast and it was off by 5oz. Put it in my fishing bag and forgot about it until a few weeks ago when I caught a couple 4+ pound bass .. I think. I used it to weigh one, tried to use it literally 5 minutes later and it wouldn’t turn on. Brought it home and replaced the batteries .. still won’t turn on. So, I weighed 1 pot roast and one fish. ????
I really like the design, wish it worked. I’ve seen some glowing reviews, maybe it’s just a qc issue.

Needed a budget scale, this one works but is not very accurate. Grams or small weights are not the target. Measures change from try to try which is not logic. If you don’t mind about decimals this is OK.

Screen light is annoying at night, whisked it had a level to reduce brightness. On the day is fine however. Another issue is that you need to view screen at a certain level, or else numbers will fade, this is particular is the worst part.

Very basic, no bells and whistles but I did not need anything else.

Edit/update: Company reaches out to me and shipped me a new replacement one. We haven’t been back out fishing to try it out again yet....but I will update soon on the status of the replacement.

BUYER BEWARE!!!! Used this on a fishing outing 1 time and then a few days later, went fishing again and it wouldn’t even turn on, plus there are spots of rust all along th measuring tape where the tape may have ‘touched’ my wet fish the first time when I was measuring it. Such a complete waste of money and would NOT recommend purchasing this scale AT ALL for fishing. What a disappointment...and now I have to look for another to buy for fishing and I’m out $13.

Avoided the over priced bicycle scales by purchasing this instead. It could use a larger size and coated hook but I was able to MacGyver my way to a couple of solutions for both hanging the scale from a higher ceiling as well as hanging the bike and putting it onto the scale with a strap.

Savlaka : Nice, basic, compact.

I picked this scale up mostly to test and set the drag on my fishing reels, and it has worked well for that - setting up 11 reels so far. The screen has a somewhat narrow feild of view, and can be hard to reed if tilted wrong. It will hold a measurement if it stays constant for a second or two, and clears out with a single button. It appears accurate (at least enough for my use) as it read within a hundredth of a pound as the other flat scales I own (mostly precision gram scales)

This scale although too small to weigh largemouth bass had a well lit readout. The real issue with this scale is the hook, it is too small and does not have a sharp enough tip to get a good grip on the fish’s mouth when trying to weigh. I do not recommend this scale for any serious fishermen/woman.

I normally don’t write reviews but in this case I am...used it to weigh my luggage and it read 26 lbs while my floor scale read 51 lbs. yes it was in lbs not Kg. Same problem with kgs... off by half.
