Answer: It's on the top where your thumb goes but it's further forward and it's not an issue. It slides back to release the blades and I've never accidentally released the blades and I've cleaned over a thousand fish with my knife. I'm a professional fishing guide and I love this knife.

Answer: I have the knife with the stainless steel blades which works fine for my use. Titanium blades typically are better though due to corrosion resistance and typically stronger. This is why it is the often the choice for professional divers, military and other outdoorsmen. It is the better choice.

Answer: Yes the knife is supposed to have two blades. It will not work with only one blade. Send it back.

Answer: This is over kill for what you want. This is the best fish filet knife by far. I filet salt water fish (red snapper and grouper) as well as fresh water fish ( crappie bass and war mouth) with this knife. I've bought at least 6 other electric knives and none compare with the power of this one. I bought a back up in case something happens to mine. The blade does wear out so I'm on my third one. I do admit that I filet through the rib cage bones and leave them with the meat.
Answer: I cannot tell you how it would do on the types of meats you have mentioned but I don't why it wouldn't. It is the best filet knife U have ever used for fish. I don't cut the bones but large catfish have tough skin and it is never a problem.

It's just 2 blades moving back and forth just like every other electric fillet knife I have (mister twister, 2 different Berkley ones, and one other brand that I don't know). However, when going head to head cleaning fish with other knives when cleaning speckled trout, I can out clean my buddies 2 to 1. I rarely go through the thin skin of a spec and it produces spectacular fillets. When cleaning tougher red fish and trying to go their thick ribs, it doesn't even check up. It does the job like nothing I've ever seen. I really wish I could understand why...... It doesn't make any sense why it is SO much better.... but it just is.

The trigger stuck the first time that I pushed the button and about 50% of the time after that. The blades were very dull and struggled to get through the ribs on medium size fish. I ended up pulling out my old electric knife to finish cleaning my fish. I am going to see what the return policy is with amazon. Very disappointing product

I have used a regular fillet knife to fillet fish for the last 50 years but after seeing an American Angler electric fillet knife used, I became interested and talked to the man who had it. He convinced me and I ordered one. So far I have used it to fillet trout, perch, catfish and bass and I love it. It is so much superior to a manual filet knife that I wish I had bought one years ago. It is much easier to use and so effortless and fast in removing the skin after taking off a fillet. Good job American Angler!

I got this knife in today. I had 19 crappie to filet. I already had the older model American Angler and it was starting to heat up after cleaning 15+ fish so I figured I'd upgrade. I have been buying stuff from Amazon for years and this will be the first time I've ever sent anything back. This knife does not seem to have the same rpm's (if that's a proper term) as my old knife. It seems that the blades reciprocate slower than my old knife. While there is definitely more torque, it does not work as well as my old knife. On top of that, after 10 fish the handle was so hot that I literally have a first degree burn on the palm of my hand. It got 10 times hotter than my old knife. I still had 9 fish to filet so I used my old AA knife and it did a better job and didn't get nearly as hot. It has to go back, it's worthless. Torque is great, but the reciprocating speed of the blades is just as important. Plus, you need to be able to hold it. Extremely disappointed.

This is the second knife I have purchased in a year. Both have the same problem of the switch sticking. The first I tried to fix without success. I ordered a second, and had the same issue. These knives have a serious flaw. I think these could be the best on the market if this was not a problem.

I'd give it 5 stars but the blades had a bad tip. The manufacturer didnt respond to my email about them. Still, this is my second American Angler and the first lasted a couple years. This one has WAY better quality. You can feel the toque twist in your hand. I like it enough to buy new blades and still give it a good review. Cuts through big Walleye like butter :)

Probably a good crappie knife. Not a 3-5lb. walleye knife ! Blades do not have enough stroke to them, more of a chewing action.

Works extremely well for larger fish much better than others I've used expecially cutting through the ribcage. The only negative is the cost $109.00 for and electric knife is a little steep but they do have a two year warranty. which I hop will be honored if I have any problems. Overall works great/
