how do they sharpen? ive been using russel dexter for 20 years afew swipes with a accu sharp and your good to go!
Answer: I too am a Dexter russell fan - this is a nice blade but i'm sticking with my DR. The bubba blade is a lot harder than the DR blade. I'm sure this is a great blade but time proven - i'm sticking with the DX no doubt. Just saw this knife on youtube and honestly, I can do that - and have done that - with my DX. Both are great blades. If you are in the market for a new one, i would definitely buy this blade!
Answer: Use a good quality diamond edge knife sharpening steel, and it will sharpen any of these to a razors edge.

Answer: I would not advise it. While very sharp and sturdy, it will have too much flex on animal hide due to the thinness of the blade

what is difference bertween stiff & flex?
Answer: The flex will give a little when cutting the stiff will not give at all, so it's your preference in blades. Both cut easy, but with a little flex you can get through smaller fillets.
Answer: Stiff means the blade has what we call "good backbone" and works well when chopping, IE cutting the head off of a Fish, flex means the blade will follow the backbone of a fish when cutting filets off of the fish.
Answer: The stiff is a stiffer blade good for cutting through bone no flex flex at all where as the flex does have some give better for smaller fish, lighter bones. Although both cut good I personally like the flex blade better even on steelhead up to 15 lbs, my guide preferred the stiff blade so I left with him as part of his tip
Answer: when you apply downward pressure on the the knife blade it "flexes" or bends. A stiff blade doesn't bend and is rigid.

I tried this knife on 10" Crappie and found the blade stiff and I left to much meat close to the back bone closest to the gill plate on the fish. I am a charter captain, have filleted thousands of fish crappie, perch, bass, trout and salmon. I think this knife will work on larger fish, but i prefer the electric knife for panfish!

This knife is amazing, was able to use it the first day of hunting season. It was easy as cutting butter butcher up the deer I shot. It did have some difficulty cutting through some of the fat of the deer, but aside from that it was great blade.

I'm use to a skinnier blade ,but once I got use to it I don't think I'll use anything else. Went steelhead fishing and after cleaning our 5 person limit of 15 this knife really held up , it wasn't until after the second day of our limit that it need to be ran through a knife sharpener and only after a couple quick swipes we were back in action the blade holds up extremely well, were as my regular knife would have needed to be sharpened every couple fish. As described the handle never once slipped from my hand and awesome knife

I have used this knife twice to clean Crappie so far so good. It has held an edge well and it has a well designed handle that won't slip.
