Answer: The tire lines are much tougher and won’t rip as easily if you hit a snag or a tree branch. The mono still works just fine it just won’t last as long. I would say that if you use it more than a few times a year get the tire line, if not go mono.

Answer: I didn’t have problems picking up fish. I would say make sure you are throwing a good pancake on the water and wait until the net almost hits the bottom before you pull it back up.

I like that the net is made from a heavier material than monofilament. This makes the net more durable however the trade off is that it is stiffer and possibly somewhat harder to cast.

Bought the 5 feet castnet. It is extremely light and thin. The only good thing about the castnet is the handrope, it's very long. First throw in open water I caught 3 tilapias and they ripped the net. You could have thought I caught an alligator. 4 braile lines got cut. This cast net is not wort the money. Would stick to the ahi castnets. Had to give it a star to post review.

The net was just as it was described to be. I was a bit hesitant to buy a weighted net without testing the durability first, but after casting this one out a few times over the lake end, I found that it snares the fish pretty well. The net is well made and seems durable but is very heavy and unless thrown extremely hard will not open. Even if you can throw it hard enough to get it to open completely it doesn’t sink very fast so the bait ball you throw it at is long gone. Save your money and just go with a tried and true regular monofilament net.

Prepare to catch some surfing smelt near the jetty in the coming spring break to Northern California. The casting net is zipped in a blue cloth bag, which makes it easy to carry around. Bottom of net are attached with about forty 2 oz lead sinkers, so the net is a little over 5 lb. Not too heavy for beginners. Each net cell is around half inch, small enough for sardines. I am little concerned with the flimsy string. Keep away from the rocky bottoms.

This is an excellent net. I am used to monofilament and this net is much stronger. It is as light as my monofilament , same size (8 foot) and throws just the same , but sinks faster. Very durable, you can tell out of the package. At the same price point as the competitor I recommend this one hands down and will obviously have to replace it in years to come , but when I replace it will be with this product.
