Answer: The tire lines are much tougher and won’t rip as easily if you hit a snag or a tree branch. The mono still works just fine it just won’t last as long. I would say that if you use it more than a few times a year get the tire line, if not go mono.

Answer: I didn’t have problems picking up fish. I would say make sure you are throwing a good pancake on the water and wait until the net almost hits the bottom before you pull it back up.

I bought the castnet for my grandson. He is 6 years old, and believe it or not, he is an avid and informed fisherman. He is a small guy, and has had to work hard to get the casting down. He watched a YouTube video (not the manufacturer) to learn how to use it. The video featured a very scantily clad woman, with a perfect physique. I don’t think a 6 yr. old was the audience this YouTuber had in mind.

He has tried to use it 2 or 3 times with no results. Last night he took it to a nearby lake, successfully casted and caught a bass! He was, and still is thrilled. His mom said he woke up talking about it this morning, and can’t wait to get back at it. He LOVES it. He should do a YouTube instruction for kids;-).

The net is well made and seems durable but is very heavy and unless thrown extremely hard will not open. Even if you can throw it hard enough to get it to open completely it doesn’t sink very fast so the bait ball you throw it at is long gone. Save your money and just go with a tried and true regular monofilament net.

Net throws decent. Lead line unraveling and stretched, Brail lines stretched. I throw on sandy bottoms. Lines stretched out to the point I can’t even sew them up again to make it symmetrical. Less than 2 months of use

Quite possibly the best cast net I've ever had to stick in my mouth! I bought this net because I was tired of my old one not sinking fast enough. Perfect size for beginner, like me. I normally fishing with lure, but started fishing catfish using live bait. So, I bought this one. I practiced several times in the backyard before I went to fishing. The time spent in the backyard get paid off. I caught nearly 20 shads in the first cast under the bridge. The product seems previously used. I think they delivered the previously returned product. I am really dissapointed. We bought two different nets from the same brand. But both of them do not seem new.

Bosh : Blue cap failure.

The blue Cap on top detached from the main net after couple casts. The net became all loose and didn’t retrieve well which resulted in the lead line getting caught on something. I loved the net quality and except for this issue I think it would have performed well. Will get a replacement and see how it performs. If it fails again I will go for a different net. Will try to update my review once I try the replacement.

Update:
New net is functioning as expected. Would have rated it 5 stars if the first one hasn’t failed. Casts well and sinks fast enough. I would recommend reinforcing the blue top with some Mono line to secure it in place so it doesn’t detach easily.

Prepare to catch some surfing smelt near the jetty in the coming spring break to Northern California. The casting net is zipped in a blue cloth bag, which makes it easy to carry around. Bottom of net are attached with about forty 2 oz lead sinkers, so the net is a little over 5 lb. Not too heavy for beginners. Each net cell is around half inch, small enough for sardines. I am little concerned with the flimsy string. Keep away from the rocky bottoms.

This is a great net. I use it for catching shad and this net works great. Long rope for deep water and it has a nice comfortable wrist band. Throws super smooth. I would recommend practicing if you’re not experienced with a net this size. I went from a 5’ to a 7’ and it took a little getting use to but not didn’t take long to get it down. Net is durable and looks well built for its price. Definitely recommend this net.
