What is the hoop width and length (opening)? Thanks.

Answer: Inside dimensions are 8 3/4 in by 15 1/4 in. As you can see from the picture, the net is wider close to the edge opposite the handle. FYI, check your state's fishing regulations. Here in WA, the 2014 regs require knotless nets in areas requiring selective rules and fly fishing only areas. The 2014 regs haven't been released yet, but the regs always get more restrictive.. This net works fine for me. I usually carry it on the back of my fly fishing vest, attached with a magnetic catch.

Answer: I do not know the exact dimensions, but it is roughly the size of a Tennis racquet. As I remember, it was about 18" x 12"??? give or take. I was not disappointed. It should work just fine for trout fishing. I gave it to my son and he seemed pleased too.

Answer: I would say it is at least 12 to 14 inches deep. I've netted several 18 to 20 inch trout with this net and it has been adequate. I think it is a tremendous value for the price.

Answer: I don't have the net in front of me but I would say its around 10" give or take. I just came back from Colorado and my fishing guide had the identical net. I was pleased that a professional had purchased the same one. Regardless of the reasonable price, I believe the quality is exceptional.

Initial impressions of Eagle Claw Clear Rubber Trout Net: Good price ($5 less than "Cabela's Rubber Landing Net" which appears to be identical item); the clear "rubber" is actually flexible clear PVC (polyvinyl chloride) plastic and not silicone rubber / the PVC might end up being more durable; time will tell; my research found the great majority of clear 'rubber' trout nets, including replacement nets, are actually this same clear vinyl (PVC). I found one of the knots holding the net to the wooden frame, near the handle, was not finished in a way that would ensure it wouldn't come loose, so I fixed that before putting the net to use. I intend to write another review later after having used this net for at least several months.

M. Ledyard : Works well, could be better

I bought this for trout, and have also used it for bass while fishing from a float tube. I wanted one with the clear rubber netting rather than the synthetic weave like my other nets. It's gentler on the fish, which is important for me because most of my fishing is catch and release. Also, the clear net is supposed to disappear in the water and not spook the fish. I'm not sure how effective this is. The fish I've caught still seem to react to it. That could be because of the wood frame, but none of the fish have commented on this feature, so I don't know for sure. They're usually going nuts because they have a hook in their mouth. It's also lightweight, great for carrying while wading. The long elastic loop with the clip is handy as well. I added a magnetic disconnect to the end of the handle and to my vest, so it is easy to release, but still attached to me. Another benefit is that if you should happen to snag the net with an errant cast, hooks won't get snagged in it as easily, and if they do, they're easy to remove. The only two complaints I have are rather minor and nitpicky. First, I wish it was a bit larger, especially widthwise. I have one net that is 12" at the front and tapers to the back. It's easier to land fish with. Second, the netting is not as supple as some of the more expensive nets. It doesn't flex as easily, which makes it feel more like a paddle when you land a fish. Maybe over time it will loosen up, and it hasn't really been a problem, but I think it would make it easier for fish to swim into it. Those minor complaints are only in comparison to much more expensive nets of this style, and definitely a compromise I'm willing to accept. I recommend this net if you're looking for a more budget-friendly alternative.

No more snagging flies in the netting material and having to bend a fly hook or cut or tear the netting material. I'm sold on rubber netting material and will be using it from now on. This has been a great net for the money thus far.

Mike : My first soft plastic net

Was about time I replaced my old net, so after looking around for something of similar dimensions, I decided on this one. I have never had one with a soft plastic net such as this, heard it's much less damaging to the gills of your catch. It actually a fairly nice looking net, attractive inlay and polyurethane finish. Hope it brings me luck and more catch.

I've landed a number of fish in this net and like this style netting. Net seems well made and a good price. One problem is the elastic lanyard broke soon after I purchased the net but I had already bought a new phone cord type along with a magnet system to hold it to my vest.
