Answer: Don't understand "perforated" vs :non-perforated" versions.

Answer: In my opinion for the small Myerchin Crew Knife I would just get a straight Edge blade, for a larger Knife I would get half serrated for maritime use

Answer: Serrated blades are great for quickly cutting through lines or webbing in a safety scenario. Regular blades are easier to sharpen and may be more versatile generally. As always-it depends. I like having a good serrated knife somewhere on deck though.

TruthTeller : Lifetime warranty is not worth a crap if they won't respond when you contact them!!!

I purchased the Generation II crew knife in wood handles. The angle of the blade is very poor for cutting even the cheapest rope, and this is after having it professionally sharpened at Bass Pro so it shaved hair and split paper like a razor blade. But I kept the knife as it looked cool and it had a marlin spike I did use many times. About a year into owning it, I cut a small 1/2" tree by my father in law's grave stone and the screw holding the blade popped out. I looked for a long time and couldn't find it. I have contacted the Myerchin company 4 times via their website, just asking to BUY a screw to fix the knife. Never ming it fell out during light use... NO RESPONSE!

This company has NO CUSTOMER service and obviously, the 'lifetime warranty' is meaningless!

If you want something pretty and expensive, buy one of the Myerchin knives. But don't ever use it, or ask them for support. They are only in it to sell you a product they won't stand behind!
