Do you tie right on line or can I use a swivel on thease?

Answer: You can tie them right on the line or use a swivel, whatever you prefer.

Answer: A swivel will add weight to the front of the lure, reducing the action. Take a few minutes, learn how to tie a loop knot. This lets the lure work the way it should.

Answer: Don't tight it righ, use a swivel to decrease the torsional trend force at the the line. Also the knots are always a bad idea due the diferential strength over the metal and the line itself.

Answer: I always use a leader, a swivel will work fine, makes swapping lures so much easier.

Can I use them in saltwater?

Answer: When the fishes are hunting could be good, especially the right one! Even if i still prefer use some poppers for saltwater

I bought these last week. What's the proper way to use/reel?

Answer: You can try different retrieves, The warmer the water the faster the fish generally. When there are frogs in the area I like to pull it about 6' at a time with a 2 second stop between pulls. If no frogs around a steady retrieve sometimes gets them to bite. If you have a pike or pickerel follow up to the boat make it do a "figure 8" in the water and sometimes you can get them to bite. When it's cold water you really have to slow it down.

Answer: I use in fresh water, I suppose you could use in salt water depending on what kind of fish, they're kind of small for that I think.

I swear by these lures, I have been using them for years and have caught some sizable fish even on the "Tiny Torpedo." If there is ever a day where nothing seems to work, keep one of these in your emergency tackle box. Any time of year, any time of day. Try using it in water that is around 5 feet deep or less. I like to throw it over grass that is under the water or some sort of cover that the fish may be using. Throw it in the same spot 4-5 times and if you don't get any hits move on. It makes a buzzing sound as you retrieve it so fish can hear it very well and it will bring them out of their hiding spots to check it out. This makes it very effective during windy days or in water that is muddy. It even works really well at night. Try retrieving it at a medium pace. This will allow the fish time to spot it and give them a chance to decide whether or not they want to commit to it. I would put this up against the more popular "Whopper Plopper" any day of the week. The hooks seem to be pretty cheaply made but they are extremely sharp and will last, they also provide a reliable hook up ratio. I recommend using this with a Medium-Heavy action rod or better but a Medium action will work. I also recommend using heavier line with this lure to ensure if you get snags in denser vegetation or trees you can pull your lure free without snapping your line. 10/10 would recommend.

Okay, let me start off by saying, the top water "Torpedo Lure" has been around for a long time. This Heddon 'Triple-Threat' 3-Torpedo Lure are possibly the best 3 lures you could use while top-water fishing.

My experience so far in just a few weeks with these lures has been very good to put it lightly. Here's a short tale of the first time I used the Heddon Tripple Threat. I had been fishing in the AM for about an hour, figured I'd try these Heddon lures out. First cast, literally a second or two after it hit the water I caught a decent 3lb Largemouth Bass. Throughout the morning for hours I kept catching the fish right as the lure hit the water, or just a few slow reels later right after I stop the lure...bam! They just kept hitting this lure. This happened again last week and again this past weekend. Lucky me I get to go fishing so much.

The lures action isn't anything to write home about, but it gets the job done. The colors are like those in nature, and for whatever reason these lures just seem to require you getting the fish's attention to get a bite. And the spinner on the back of this set of torpedo lures does that great.

The color, the size and the choice of 3 is almost cheating when it comes to fishing. The Heddon Tripple Threat is a must have for all freshwater fisherman!

Let me start off by saying I haven't bought the triple threat pack through Amazon BUT, I have owned numerous Heddon Torpedoes of all sizes throughout the years. I was turned onto this lure about 10 years ago. I had access to a gun club's private lake(on the smaller side) and I spent every spring/summer fishing it from shore, and from boat. This lake was mainly stocked with rainbow & brown trout, and most of the fishing was done trolling the bottom with powerbait, or catching them with spinners and spoons. However, it had a healthy population of largemouth bass in it as well. A lunker for that lake was probably 5 to 6 lbs. During the evenings, I would fish shallow cover with torpedoes. Mostly I used the bullfrog pattern, which is the one pictured in the center of the triple threat pack. The water had to be perfectly calm or the vibration/chatter of the blades gets drowned out and I very rarely got strikes that way. If it's calm, and the fish are reacting to top water, this is a lure you have to have in your box. It doesn't always work but no topwater lure does.. but the racket it makes is pretty irresistible to bass.

I've caught numerous size bass on it, little 1 pounders up to 6.5lb toads. The way they hit this lure is a sight to behold. The key is incorporating several pauses in your retrieve. If the lake is pressured, try a slow retrieve with many pauses. Follow a pattern for the first 5-10 casts, and then change up your rhythm for the next 10. Cast the lure out, and wait for the ripples in the water to dissipate before beginning to reel it in, reel in slow, pause for 5-10 seconds, give it a short quick burst, pause, reel slow, etc. This is a great lure for beginners to try, because no matter how you retrieve it, it WILL get you strikes if the bass are active. The feeling you get when a nice 5 pounder comes up and smashes this thing is incredible. It's like someone dropped a cinder block into dead calm water.

Anyway, I've rambled a bit but in closing, I was turned onto this lure by another guy I saw landing a bunch of bass when I wasn't getting any bites with other topwater stuff like pop-r's and jitterbugs. I've kept at least 3 of these torpedoes on hand since then. They just work. You don't see a whole lot of people using them on the professional circuit, I see a lot of heddon spooks but not so much the torpedoes. Give these a try, and you're going to catch fish.

I own a fishing lodge in Canada and target smallmouth bass all summer long. This is by far the best top-water we use/sell. Hands down. Its the first bait out of the box for our guides and the number one recommendation in my tackle shop to my fishermen. They will catch bass and pike in all conditions. When they are aggressive a slow steady retrieve is killer. When fish are timid use a long pause then slight jerk followed by slow retrieve and continue that pattern all the way to the boat.

If I had one top-water bait to use this would be it. And I have used them all and do this for a living. It is my go-to top-water bait.
