Answer: Are you talking about the ring that you tie your line onto? or is it missing so that you can see into the body of the lure through the hole?

Answer: Yes, many years ago these had a nose line tie. All the guys back in the day that fished these loved the line tie at the nose. Heddon changed it to the chin for more roll and action. I believe a huge group of guys basically petitioned to have the line tie back at the nose. So in compromise they put the hole at the nose so people could change it to the nose if they felt the need to.

Does the Zara Puppy have a knocker (for sound)? Mine appears to have a ball in the rear that is not mobile

Answer: It does have a small ball in the tail of the bait but it's for weight and helps facilate the walking motion you will impart on the spook when you fish it. They make spook juniors that have a ball for the knocking you speak of and are called one knockers. I have those also and they are a blast to fish. Top water all day everyday if I could and sometimes have. Get some dude, I don't think you will regret it. Good luck.

Answer: I don't see why not. I guess it depends on what type of fish you are fishing for since this is a topwater lure it would only be good for fish that feed up there. I can tell you it works great for freshwater bass and other species that like a topwater bite

Answer: Nope. But the sprinkler teckel frog will satisfy those needs I would think

Answer: approx 2 1/2 inches maybe 3 inches (at least from not looking at it right now)

Heddon lures have been in my family since I was a kid in the late 50's and sixties. I remember my older brother and I sneaking up on a pond in Oklahoma near Stroud, to get ready for a dawn day of fishing and he got there first with a lucky 13, big and loud plop and the 3-4 lb. large mouth bass he hooked into and landed. Biggest bass I had ever seen up close and for most of my youth. We had them at Boy Scout Camp near Cleveland and the Ark River, where you never knew what would bite in that water. This little lure catches fish. I like it for four stars.

I have been a fan of Heddon lures since the 1950s and quality is still good. I always considered Heddon a Great American Company. However I am a bit disappointed that this great American lure is actually made in China. Let’s see if it catches fish in American lakes and streams. Lol.

Massive lure, but that's advertised. Walks the dog great, flitter shad is cool besides the glitter falling off. Some sort of coating should probably be used to keep that from happening. Otherwise, very serviceable.

One of the most unexpected memorable catches I had as a kid was using this lure - these are large floating surface lures and as advertised when you get a strike it's a major fish show, unfortunately the one I received does not rattle. Lures are better purchased at a local bait shop (if such a thing still exits in your area) and in person.

I've had birds see them and they think it's injured fish and try to grab them. If fish are hungry they will try to eat this lure provided there is a top water bite. The rush you get when a decent Bass blows up on this lure is great, it makes me smile from ear to ear.

With many top water options on the market, What sets it apart is the sound. The rattles really call the fish in for a look.
My only issue with this lure is that it picks up any debris in it’s path. But such is top water fishing I suppose.

The finish is outstanding in detail and fairly durable. I fished it in a canal and beat it against the rocks quite a bit and still looks good as new. The "walk the dog" action is easy and alluring, yet it can be presented in several ways- so it gets used over other plugs because it's versatile.

First let me say this, no one pays me or gives me free products for writing reviews so what I say is my biased opinion. So my opinion is that this is a great lure, just wish the dad gum King Mack that swallowed it and destroyed my line had not thought it was such a great lure too. Lost him and the lure, but had a great experience. So despite the lack of someway to keep the lure from staying in the ocean, I have to give the doggone thing five stars.(Red and white has always been my first choice in colors....Snook seem to like em)

I have several of these in my box and I lost one just like this last summer. It was the oldest lure I had in my box that I'd bought back in the 70s. Not much has changed and if you shake your rod or walk the dog, it'll look erratic and catch fish. I've seen a frog on the water chasing a bug and this lure looks exactly like that.
