Answer: Are you talking about the ring that you tie your line onto? or is it missing so that you can see into the body of the lure through the hole?

Answer: Yes, many years ago these had a nose line tie. All the guys back in the day that fished these loved the line tie at the nose. Heddon changed it to the chin for more roll and action. I believe a huge group of guys basically petitioned to have the line tie back at the nose. So in compromise they put the hole at the nose so people could change it to the nose if they felt the need to.

Answer: #1's. I'm kinda flexible about hooks on lures myself. a size one way or the other. I sorta use what is handily available and have found they work just fine.

Does the Zara Puppy have a knocker (for sound)? Mine appears to have a ball in the rear that is not mobile

Answer: It does have a small ball in the tail of the bait but it's for weight and helps facilate the walking motion you will impart on the spook when you fish it. They make spook juniors that have a ball for the knocking you speak of and are called one knockers. I have those also and they are a blast to fish. Top water all day everyday if I could and sometimes have. Get some dude, I don't think you will regret it. Good luck.

Answer: I don't see why not. I guess it depends on what type of fish you are fishing for since this is a topwater lure it would only be good for fish that feed up there. I can tell you it works great for freshwater bass and other species that like a topwater bite

Anyone know if they make the soft versions anywhere anymore???

Answer: Nope. But the sprinkler teckel frog will satisfy those needs I would think

Answer: approx 2 1/2 inches maybe 3 inches (at least from not looking at it right now)

It's my first time with a Zara Spook (I bought four; two large, two small) and I thought I'd give them a try after watching them on tv for the past 5 years. Out of the blue (watching Bill Dance on tv) I typed them into Amazon's search and was surprised to see them on sale with Prime shipping.

The quality is great and I can see their appeal. They work exactly as they say on the box and now I've a lifetime to perfect their technique. Prime makes it easy for me to replace them in the future. Good stuff.

This lure is AMAZING under the right conditions for bass, pike and lots of saltwater species. I have used it for bass on a local lake and it beats everything else when there is a slight chop on the water. Fish, even small bass, will attack it viciously and when the bite is on its so much fun to watch them come up and take it. You may catch a few less fish but many times the biggest bass will hit this lure. Also it's just fun to watch a 5 lb bass come up out of the water to get this lure. Watch a youtube video so you can learn to walk the dog which is an extremely effective technique. Great lure!!

Classic lure. A bit smaller than its brother the Zara spook jr. A good option for smallies.

With many top water options on the market, What sets it apart is the sound. The rattles really call the fish in for a look.
My only issue with this lure is that it picks up any debris in it’s path. But such is top water fishing I suppose.

I have several of these in my box and I lost one just like this last summer. It was the oldest lure I had in my box that I'd bought back in the 70s. Not much has changed and if you shake your rod or walk the dog, it'll look erratic and catch fish. I've seen a frog on the water chasing a bug and this lure looks exactly like that.

One of the most unexpected memorable catches I had as a kid was using this lure - these are large floating surface lures and as advertised when you get a strike it's a major fish show, unfortunately the one I received does not rattle.
