Answer: Doubt it would work. It's aluminum; likely bending it would crack the handle.

Is it really a 59 feet long pole?

Answer: No, it extends to about 8 feet 9 inches including the net.

Answer: actually it's 159 feet so you don't have to worry about the crabs jumping on you and biting your fingers

Answer: I do not. Given that aluminum is so light in weight, I would be concerned about having any amount of weight at the furthest most point (netting).

Answer: You mean if you leave it in the sun? No - it reflects back heat and is a good sturdy net. Using it very heavy 2 -3 time a year

Answer: Yes, if you are going to catch small fish, the net is about 13 inches across and 6 or 7 inches deep

Answer: We use it at full extension to fish soccer balls out of the creek. It works very well for that. It's easily large and sturdy enough to handle an 18 inch fish.

Answer: I don't know if it floats - but it broke in less than a year. The pole broke where it is attached to the top where the net is.

These are great! First time we used them, chased down 4 dozen crabs. They go through water easy, hold the weight of 3 crabs at a time, are plenty long enough, and the crabs don't get hung up in them.

I'm ordering this pole for it's length since I need a net that's at least 20ft long.

But this one is far from enough.

Guess it's a typo in the title. It should be 56 inches - 92 inches.

If you are looking for a short net then it should be fine.

Taking 4 star off due to incorrect description -- I ordered one and thought it was just wrong packaging, when the exchanged one came in exactly the same, I figured it's not what I thought it would be.

It's amazing how hard it is to find a good Dip net for crabbing. I kept running into ring nets, traps, and short handles bass-like nets until I finally found out about Ed. Cumings.

I bought this for my father for Christmas and it's been working great on our crabbing trips this past summer!

It's light - aluminum and hollow so it can sink and the net head won't keep bobbing up (We have a wood-handle net that does this)

It's long - When it collapses (telescopes in) it's kind of too short to use but good for storage. Extended, it's quite long which can be a little cumbersome at times. What we did was drill a hole in the middle of the outer pole segment so the metal nipple would pop in at an intermediate length.

It's got a good head - the size of the head and the meshing are both good. There's a good amount of slack but it doesn't get caught on the rocks really at all.

Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase!

Light weight, easily maneuverable, vehicle to capture crabs. The net moves rapidly through water with little resistance which lessens the time for crabs to escape. The handle inserts into the base pole which allows for easy storage and transport. I'm very satisfied with this product and it's performance.
