Answer: I have cut apple slices thinly and it set it on medium for 7-8 hours.
Answer: Don’t buy it,took 12 hours to do parsley!!!

Answer: Omg who would know that? What a crazy question ????. How is it at drawing a cat's eyeball?
Answer: I’ve only used for fruit.
Q:

Answer: It takes at least 24 hours if not more there is a lot of moisture and it takes a while just check during that time frame for best results
Answer: Dry them on high/medium for 24 hours. Lower the temp one notch and dry for a week. Don’t block too much airflow. I’ve made raisins and jerky rock hard by accident because I dried them too long.

Answer: one tray is okay. Use as many as you need for the job at hand.
Answer: One tray dries faster. All the trays take longer. If you have a heavy "water load" in the product, you may want to shift the trays morning or evening (or both). Trial and error for each product you are drying. It's an art, and not quite a science. You will learn quickly which product dries fastest. Enjoy the experience!

I want to ship a dehydrator to thailand, will this machine run on 220? or only good to use in usa?
Answer: Sorry, I do not know the answer for this; it may need a converter to work in countries with different electrical output than the United States.
Q:
Do the trays need to be rotated while dehydrating?
Answer: I do not think so. The trays need to be rotated from up to bottom or from bottom to top. The bottom tray dries faster.
Answer: It depends on what you are dehydrating. My DHR-20 came with a "quick reference" for what I'm assuming Cuisinart has determined to be the most commonly dehydrated foods. It brakes it down for you and like I mentioned earlier the rotation cycle depends on what you're dehydrating. Dont over think it though there's honestly no fine science to it and it's darn near impossible to screw up imho.
Answer: no

Q:
Is it BPA free?
Q:
are the trays metal
Answer: No. They are plastic
Q:
Does it come with a recipe book?
Answer: Sort of. It has times for the things you can dehydrate. Recipes for different jerky, roll ups. Sun dried tomato basil spread. And More

Answer: Well not really a recipe book per se. It dose come with a booklet for times and tip for dehydrating. It does work well, but as the other comments state, you can hear the fan running. Not a big deal, and the fan does speed up the drying. It's nice, it works, easy enough to clean. Enjoy

Q:
Can you clean the fan?
Answer: No I don’t there is no need to as you want to put fairly dry product inside
Q:

Product reviews of Cuisinart DHR-20 Food Dehydrator, Steel Gray, 13.38 x 15.63 x 12 inches
Kevin L. : A waste of money.
Purchased this unit for dehydrating pla filament. Only was able to run it for 7 hours. Went to dry a second spool, the blower motor was shot, could barely even turn. I'd return it if i could, however i had to modify the racks to fit the spool...
Jennifer H : So far pretty good.
The dehydrator has enough trays to do a large batch of anything you want or multiple items. It works great, but I did find that the drying time took a little longer that it states in the instruction book. Other than that it works fantastic and is easy to clean as well.
Jennifer S : Five Stars
Got it for my dad for Christmas he uses it every week to make beef jerky.
Stacy B : Does not work
So disappointed in this! It has run for 24 hours and the fruits are still not done! It is terrible to wash by hand..everything sticks to it. Do not buy this item.
ED : size
Fits well in my house. Beef jerky.
Brianna : Good product
Works as said
David : Works well
Easy to use, not too loud. Works well without heat, in low humidity. The heater gets pretty warm, even the lowest setting is about 100 Fahrenheit. Stacking trays interlock well, easy to clean; can use just 1 tray and cover for small stuff.
Jerry : It is my first one and I will make sure ...
It is my first one and I will make sure and do more research for the next one I get, mainly the heat settings, this one by my measurements does not get over 135 degrees on its highest setting.
Alex C. Hein : Easy to use
Works great
Stacy B : Does not work

KIM ROWE : Best Beef Jerky
The best beef jerky!!!!
So easy to marinade
Armando : That it works as described
previous order bottles did not last. stopped working.
Kathryn Diamond : This is a solid appliance.
This appliance really works great. I have used it and love how it dehydrated the food and in the amount of time that it said. I would buy it again.
Adriana SR Clark : Awesome gift ????
This was a gift for my fiancée and he loved it! He’s been doing beef jerky since day one and it’s working great! Only complaint is it’s hard to clean the trays, few of them have already broken and chipped, bummer ???? but still he loves it!
Dr. J. Jerome Holton : I won’t buy another brand!
This is the second one I bought. My first is in storage and still going strong. I bought this one because my dad wanted a good one. So I recommended the same one I own. Can’t beat it!
Steve Hartwig : Great Intro to Food Drying
This is my first food dryer and I'm very pleased. I would recommend it to anyone else interested. I don't have a reference point so I can't make a comparison. My first experiment with beef jerky was a success. Operation is a no-brainer. Super easy to monitor progress. Open design vents some delicious smells throughout the house while you're drying.
Jason Freitas : Best food dehydrator
I like it a lot
Barbara Lashua : good
good
jessica : works great
the book didnt help, trial and error. to keep color try drying longer on lowest temp. works very good and fast.
Starman : Five Stars
Just down right Awesome, very happy with my purchase of this great product.
MAS : We like Cuisinart but ...
We needed a new dehydrator and have always been satisfied with Cuisinart. On the plus side, the design is compact and easy to place on a countertop. On the negative side, this dehydrator is asymmetric and trays have to line up to a groove to fit. They don't line up easily and you can't rotate them. Not user friendly when compared to basic round trays. The trays are also very shallow. An apricot cut in half won't fit and a peach would need to be sliced. Simply not practical since we dry a large portion of our crop.
Trang Thu Tran : So good
I'm loving to use it...so convenient. Perfect for chicken jerky and beef .
Lelia : good for jerkey
overall very good
kurt miller : the easy of using the dehydrator
drying both fruit and meat
ED : size
Fits well in my house. Beef jerky.
Amazon Customer : Great buy!
I originally ordered this dehydrator because it's the same kind my aunt and uncle have. The moved away and I wanted to try to make my own deer jerky so I asked them for the recipe and what they used. This dehydrator is so easy to use. The jerky comes out perfect. You do need to rotate the trays once or twice so it's all even.
Eric C. : Makes Great Beef Jerky
i bought this for my aunt to make me beef jerky and dried pineapple for when I hiked the John Muir Trail in 2016. Since then she has been using this to make me batches while I continued to travel and now that I am home I bought myself one to keep making beef jerky, which I've found making your own jerky is better than anything you can get store-bought, especially with the right marinade recipe :)
Barbara Lashua : good
good
Charles H. Brannen Jr. : Five Stars
bought this one to replace a 15 year old one - many improvements since then
Lab Rat : Takes longer than expected
I used to have a Ronco dehydrator years ago and it worked very well. This Cuisinart dehydrator seems to take twice as long to dehydrate my peppers as it did with the Ronco one. It does work and the base doesn't get too hot to touch it. I've dried two batches of peppers so far and it does the job.
I also wished this unit had a precise way to adjust the temperature other than low, medium and high
Jessica G : Great dehydrator
I wasn’t sure which dehydrator to buy. I changed my mind several times before ordering this one. I choose this one because I like that I can see the food and I’ve had good luck with this brand in the past. The first thing I made was bananas. I also plan to do apples and beef jerky soon. Trays cleans well, easy to stack. I rotate the trays every 1-2 hours. The directions tell you how often to rotate based on what you are making
Dr.Carl : Five Stars
as advertised. quiet and effecient
Antoinette Longdin : Three Stars
No directions for product in with it, came quite unprotected from the elements ...
dangi-ok : Versatile
Multipurpose
Jean : Beef Jerky Made Easy
I use this dehydrator to make beef jerky all the time. It holds a lot of product and has several settings to dry different kinds of food items. I highly recommend it.
Thinh B. : Not a quality product.
It stops working today. It is not even 2 years since I bought it.
Amazon Customer : Great buy!

Amazon Customer : Good value
Good product
terri walter : returned
I only read the directions then returned it. There are way too many steps and too much time to produce the finished food.
Amazon Customer : Perfect for beef jerky
I absolutely love this unit! It holds about to 2.5lbs of meat for beef jerky using the 5 trays. Only complaint is that cleaning the trays is a hassle. But thats just me being lazy.
James Doran : Great for beef jerky
I decided to change from using a smoker and oven for making beef jerky to using a dehydrator. Only problem is where can I get extra trays?
Linda Klein : Fantastic deal
I love hiw easy it is go use ad clean. You can make anythng from dried yogurt to jerky. My first item I made was chicken jerky. I male it all the time for my dog ad she shares with me. ☺️
drouze041 : Supervise just incase....
Was great til it caught on fire 3rd time i used it. Was pretty scary, thank god i didnt leave the room too long. Returned product and was given a replacement VERY quickly. DingdDing....Round 2.
