When You Have An Awesome Fishing Trip With Many Bass Caught Do You? 2024

fishing user avatarbigbill reply :

To me having a great fishing trip with a lot of success I go home feeling like I hit the lotto, well happy, happy anyway.

What do you do when you get home after a great day of fishing.

I just have to go online and purchase a lure I don't have, some line, or some plastics. I just feel compelled to do it.

What do you do?

fishing user avatarJar11591 reply :

A good day of fishing is such a a satisfying feeling. I usually sit out on the front porch, have a smoke and something cold to drink and reminisce about the day with whoever I fished with.

fishing user avatarpaul25 reply :

Same as you bigbill but with me i usually order what i caught em on during the trip even if i have 20 of the same lure lol.

fishing user avatarRaul reply :

There used to be a time many many years ago when I cared how many I caught, it seemed to be important, later it was not only how many I caught, but how big and now, well I don't measure my success by how many or how big, the interesting thing now is that the less I care I catch more and bigger.

fishing user avatartomustang reply :

I prepare for the next time to go back out

fishing user avatarCatt reply :

Legal limit here is 8 bass a day per person with a 14" minimum length.

If I accomplish that I'm happy!

Once the boat is secured on the trailer I start planning my next trip.

fishing user avatargulfcaptain reply :

I come home, and mentally go over what I did that day that made me successful.  Think about why they were there and what conditions created the chance or me to have such a great day.  Then of course, I go online or to the store to make sure I have back ups for whatever I was using if I don't already.

fishing user avatarZhouNi reply :

since i own my  restaurant i will have to go back to work when i get off the water, and make the money i have spent on the day out  :laugh5: . this past weekend i went fishing at 5 in the morning, got back about 4 in the afternoon and work until 11.. :cry4:

fishing user avatarDavid D. reply :

I think back about what worked and what didn't and the possible reasons for each.... and then think about what exams I have coming up to prepare for :(

fishing user avatarMike L reply :

Awesome or not, When I get home from a day on water I'm usually so wiped out I just wipe down the rods, back off the reel drags, toss out the old plastic and just sit quietly for a while.

But I may have a bigger smile on face. ;)

Mike

fishing user avatarChance_Taker4 reply :

My reaction may be a little different but I get real confident and a little egotistical. But it is because my wife is a big city girl who didn't know what a fishing pole was when we started dating. Now that she is getting outdoorsy 9 out of 10 trips she is with me sun tanning in the back. And everytime I catch a fish weather it is big or small, she gets super excited and thinks I am KVD :eyebrows:, Even though I am no where close to him or really any tournament anglers ( you guys are amazing at this sport) So when I start catching big fish or a lot of fish she thinks I belong in the HOF of fishing. Even when there is a discussion about fishing she buts in and tells them I can out fish anyone because I just caught 30 fish (less than a pound each (: ) The confidence she bestows in me especially when I have a good day just makes me feel confident and gives me a little bit of an ego until a kid comes and out fishes me the next time.  :dazed-7:

fishing user avatarstarcraft1 reply :

Size and numbers are nice, but another day on the water is where it's at for me. Get back home, unhook the boat, grab a beer and do a look thru what's left. Then start to replace what I've lost. I make the jigs and heads myself and make a phone call for the plastics. Get ready for the next trip. Oh yea, grab another beer or two.

fishing user avatarBassWhole! reply :

I cup my hands to my nose and sniff my hands, and with a childish grin say "smell my hands", at which my wife just shakes her head, and smiles, then when she's not paying attention, i'll rub my thumb on the back of her neck and say "yeah, that good".

fishing user avatarMcAlpine reply :

Quiet.  Listen to everything around me that is not man made.  Just drink it in.  When all of that noise is gone, its surprising how loud and distinct birds and squirrels and the air rustling through the trees and the chop on the water can be. Catch a couple....that's the icing on the cake.

fishing user avatarAK-Jax86 reply :

I look at my pics after a good day fishing and post them to my Instagram (FISHtagram) page.

But to me I would rather have a couple big fish then catching a ton of smaller fish

fishing user avatarjbsoonerfan reply :

For me a successful fishing trip means that the boat ran well, nothing broke, I didn't have a blow out on the trailer, I didn't get pulled over and I didn't fall in the lake (all those things have happened at one time or another).

The catching is secondary to all that.

fishing user avatarGrizzn N Bassin reply :

I think about how i was fishing, the retrives , condition's , wind moon  what i was using. and of course i write it all down.

fishing user avatar.ghoti. reply :

I'll just kick back with my buds, sip a manly drink, compare notes for the day, and tell a few lies.

I guess I have a different idea about what a good day is.  To me any day that I can get out to fish, from the bank or from a boat is a good outing.  Sure catching fish is good, bigger fish is even better but any time I can get out with friends and we get home safe is another great day.  When I get home I think about what a great day it was with family or friends and wonder when the next time will be and where we will go.

Ron

 Perfect answer.

fishing user avatarroadwarrior reply :

Sounds like Trophy Countgry in Missouri...Good friends, good food and cold drinks!

fishing user avatarbigbill reply :

Did you say good food count me in. We meet good people around good food.

fishing user avatarSirSnookalot reply :

I do the same exact thing everyday, go home and take a nap.  Doesn't make a difference if it's a 1 pounder or a 50# one, I don't think about after I've done it.  I do make my plans first thing every morning before I leave on where and what I'm fishing for.

fishing user avatarBruce424 reply :

Yea ya gotta tell SOMBODY about your day... even when its your girlfriend that doesnt really care haha. Most of the time I talk to my dad about a good day when I see him. Or send him pictures over the phone.

fishing user avatarccummins reply :

  1. I thank God that I made it there and back safely.  Drivers here in south Florida are the worst in the USA.

Throw away at least one yard sized bag of trash that I picked up in the last 15 to 30 minutes I spent at the fishing spot.

I put my tackle away.

Look for a cold adult malted barley and hop based beverage in the fridge.

Open and enjoy # 4 above.  Repeat process until thirst is gone or mellowness ensues.

Think about what I will cook for supper and ask the family for suggestions. (I get to fish every Sunday with no grief from my wife if I cook supper that night and do the dishes afterward).

fishing user avatarmjseverson24 reply :

Honestly when i get home from a great trip I am so tired that i wash the boat off, put it in the garage, plug in the trolling motor batteries, if I am fishing the next morning I rig rods for the next day, otherwise I show off the pics to the family, then i thank God for the privilege to enjoy these beautiful MN lakes, hop in to bed and hope to do it all again the next day...

fishing user avatarfishinthedacks reply :

I'm usually exhausted if I fished properly. I come home put all my gear away, clean it and myself up. I always throw something on the grill, fish/steak/chicken, grill of some veggies or saute them in some butter and EVOO. Have a few beers and look over the pics of that days catch. Usually sleep pretty well.

LMAO drivers everywhere in Florida are the worst. I saw maybe 5-10 signals my entire time in Florida 3-4 years.

fishing user avatarBankbeater reply :

I get on the computer and write down what happened in the fishing log.  It's like reliving the day all over again.

fishing user avatargeo g reply :

I do the same thing regardless of the catching.  I take a NAP!

fishing user avatarGrizzn N Bassin reply :

Ill give my uncle a good ol' high five then well stop at the bar drink a nice cold beer and shoot some pool. But we normally do that anyway haha

fishing user avatarOntarioFishingGuy reply :

After an awesome trip I go to bed, get up, go fishing, go to bed, get up, go fishing...

fishing user avatarCDMeyer reply :

I get back to the house dock the boat, and check over my gear, bring it inside and Thank the Lord whether I had a Great day or a bad day

I then look at what I did right and wrong so that I can improve

After doing that, I enter the info in my log book of memories. The log is not so much a record to learn from, though at times it reminds me that some lures and presentations worked in the past, as much as it reminds me of how many times I was in the right place, at the right time and with the right lure, worked the right way. Reliving those logged moment remind me that of all the bad days of fishing, there were so many good days.

There is no way I can not improve something or other regarding my equipment when I return from a day on the water. It could be boat or tackle related that needs to be included or improved for the next time. Yesterday I noted (in a notebook I always carry) that the bale needed to be taken apart, cleaned and oiled. I caught bass on a specific lure and need to add a few more to the box. The boat seat needed some screws tightened, etc. etc.

No point is glorifying over my success - it's not like a just won a million dollar lotto. Just the feeling of and the reminder that I connected to fish on a day perfect for fishing, is enough, making me plan for the next outing and hope it will turn out as pleasant.
