Say you put on insect repellent or sunscreen. Do you think just plain old water is okay for washing hands or is plain soap needed to remove odors or has something else been found to work best? Both of those products smell so human, lol.
I just wipe them off with lake water . I am picky on being quiet and invisible but I dont pay any attention to my hand odor .
My wife keeps the house stocked with Target's Method Anti-B liquid soap. It seems to do the trick. I'm not joking. I'll go outside and spray with SPF 1million and come inside and wash hands.
Wash your hands in JJ's magic!
At any given time my hands will have:sunscreen, diesel fuel, gasoline, grease, various oils (motor, hydraulic, gear,etc...),cow manure, dirt, and god knows what else....I catch fish just fine.
I have used Colgate white tooth paste for decades to clean my hands while fishing and rinse in lake water.
Preventing the transfer of attractants, oils, fuel, fish slim etc from my hands to my rod handles is the reason I keep my hands clean.

Same here.
When I get home if I want the smell of the day gone, washing in mustard, rinsing and then regular soap works perfect.
It does sometimes seem like fishing gets better as soon as you get the stink of one fish on you or get the skunk off, so to speak.

Why Colgate white, lol?
Hunters shampoo - scent less and actually cleans well I use various brands and things like that all the time for hunting
I just lick my hands clean...
I agree with ww2farmer. Worrying about what smell your hands have to a fish is the very least of the problems you have to overcome while fishing.
I keep a hand towel on board. That's about it really..

Try it!
I just wash my hands in the lake water or restroom if available. Just dab some scent on your bait you should be good. I smoke tobacco and scents like megastrike procure really helps or at least I believe that it does
If I put on sunscreen or bug repellent, I just leave it as is. To remove the fish smell, I use lemon juice and lemon peels.
I put dirt or sand on my hands and then rinse it in the lake.... a little primitive but it works great.

It DOES work

I keep a ziplock bag with baking soda in it and wash my hands after I launch and before I touch a plastic. I don't worry about it with hardbaits but I'm a little anal about my plastics...
After reading this topic, I think I'm gonna keep all natural/biodegradable soap on the boat
I always have a little bottle of hand sanitizer in my tool bag/ tackle bag for scent/ sun screen removal and to clean up before lunch!

This "primitive" method can work quite well in a pinch. BTW, I love the user name and avatar!
Frog Scent Bio-Edge.
I do keep a bar of ivory soap in my truck ,and in my misc bag that I take in boats. Ivory soap floats .
I could careless about any smell on my hand but I do keep a bottle of Peroxide to clean my hands to eat what ever meal I brought with me. Although I may start bring rubbing alcohol instead as it dries instantly.

I haven't thought about Ivory soap in many a year. When I was a kid, my dad took me trotlining. We set out the trotline and baited it with Ivory soap. We had to leave to check the cows and when we went back to check the line, it was gone, somebody stole the whole thing.
If you fish from a boat carry a small spray bottle of Simple Green to clean up carpets from attractant drops, gasoline or oil on your hands from working on something like a fuel line or your engine on the water. Carry a hand towel and wrap it around the spray bottle. I have several towels in my boat to dry my hands and wipe my rig down after each outing.
Yes I do use tooth paste to clean my hands while fishing, it's biodegradable, cleans good, easy o store along side the attractant. Slippery hands are a problem when holding fishing rods.

I had a guy offer to detail my truck for $40 and I took him up on it to try him out. He worked 3.5 hrs and did a fabulous job. About 5 yrs of bugs was on the front of the truck. He got 100% of it off and he used Simple Green. I was impressed. I wash my truck twice a year whether it needs it or not.
