i really hate winter now. i have 2 hobbies. fishing and working out so now i have alot of extra time in my hands? what do yall do to deal with it?? besides ice fish, shoot, hunting.
Past two days have been warm...went to the small local lake...still frozen.
So I deal with it by shopping and working on my gear
i buy new lures, put fresh line on my reels, look on google maps for new spots, spy on birds (cool photos: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/129090-during-the-dead-winter-when-i-cant-fish/), scout out new ponds, buy new gear, dream about spring, watch videos of people fishing, post on this website...
BPS The Strike XBOX 360 video game
Not very well!!
This site helps. I've organized my tackle, worked on the boat, and am reading as much as I can about fishing structure.
Well right now I'm just trying to stay warm.
My wife says I deal with it by driving her nuts.
2° here this morning. Supposed to fall to -4° by noon, with an overnight low tonight of -11°.
This is Cincinnati by the way, you know,.... the home of the comedy team known as the "Cincinnati Bengals".
Hootie
Nice to see a fellow Ohioan here. To pass the time I generally do PM's on gear (reels and rods), organize, repair, inventory, and eliminate/introduce tackle. Read forums, do research Google maps and navionics app is great for IDing New spots. And just to keep things interesting annoy the wife till she starts being as excited for fishing season to start as I.
Hang around this site as much as possible.
Spend time at the gym.
I keep pretty busy working 2 jobs, being home with my family, and am trying to finish my MBA by June. When I find time I ski and read Bassresource!
I really don't deal well ... LOL. I am on this site regularly. I am studying up on Jigs. Went as far as to pour, paint and skirt my jigs, reorganized my tackle. Sell some stuff I don't need or want.
It still isn't fishing and it drives me nuts not having a outlet in the winter.
Unfortunately as much as want to like ice fishing it doesn't cut it for me. Too stationary for me.

Now that is what I am talkin about, make some fine sandwiches with them, also enjoy something to warm you up while your a jiggin I hope.
We trade them for meals at the local Chinese take out place.
Hunt scout for next years seasons. Start finding turkeys, do habitat work. My outdoors lifestyle never stops.
Get indoor projects done around the house. It's a perfect time to get them done. Keeps the wife happy. Who wants to work indoors when the weather is nice?
Break out the flippin stick, jig and coffee cup for a little living room practice. The dog and wife give me the same "you're doing that again?" look.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned all of the good books on bassfishing...I guess it is the internet age, but there's plenty of good reading material out there if you go old school.
Shovel snow $!#@
I go to school, workout, homework and then research and fine tune my gear..... always looking to get better EVERDAY
I buy new gear clean all my reels and rods, put new line on, watch youtube videos nonstop, read new things and post on different bass forums.
Other than that.. I just cry..
Alpine skiing and snowmobiles!
And deer!
I started making top water lures this winter. It's been fun but I sure miss the summer. I just can't get into ice fishing. It's just too d**n cold around here. I think it got to 60 below the other day for god sake.
Here's a pic of one of my early attempts at lure making.
when i cant fish i skateboard any spare time i get....done it my whole life
unfortunately now im getting old.....i usually get hurt, then ice my wounds and pout until bass season rolls around. i feel bad for my wife this time of year.....i complain like a baby sometimes when i cant get on the water
I'm very active in my smallmouth club and we are very busy during the winter. We have a big banquet for 200 of our members and guests the first weekend in March and there is a lot of work organizing everything. We have a booth at some of the outdoor shows to recruit new members. We also have our social get togethers during the winter. Sit around, eat some pizza, have an adult beverage or two and talk smallmouth. During the summer, everyone is fishing so no one comes then. I'm glad I don't fish in the winter. I'm too busy to make time to get out.
