WOW that's amazing that you caught that on tape! I'd like to see that snook try and pick on an alligator gar like that

it is a rare footage but it happens, its very cool seeing that. that was a friend of mine backyard. i dont think it would do that to a gar unless its a small one.
That's crazy. Cool video. Did the LMB survive?

thanks, i haven't seen the bass since.
Amazing video! Thanks.
Sometimes your the predator and the roles switch and your the prey. It's nature's laws. There's more to fishing than just fishing if we look around us when were fishing. Great video.
thanks guys, its was a video of my friends backyard and just wanted to share this very cool but rare footage.
Rare indeed!! That was cool! I feel bad for that nice bass, but that's mother nature for you. Big fish eat smaller fish, that's how it goes....
Now we know what to use when we want to catch big snook.
That snook looks about 20-25 lbs., not unmanageable on bass gear. I catch 20lb. + Chinooks on bass casting gear - generally one of my cranking rods, saddled with a Zillion. Sometimes you have chase them down, but the 200 yards or so of line is plenty. If I were you, and that snook is indeed 50 lbs., I'd be joining the IGFA, certifying my scale, and using a recognized line for line class records. The current all tackle record common snook is 53-10. The last one registered that came close to the record is a 44 lb+ caught in 2012. Snook are fun. I don't think I've caught one over 5 or 6 lbs, but even those were a blast.
Very interesting footage, btw. You see lots of "pike or musky eats a bass" but not too many of snook. First I've seen - very cool.
AWESOME ...thanks for sharing
Hard to tell how big that snook was. You won't often see a snook eat a bass as the majority of them are caught in saltwater, but they do exist in freshwater for sure. The gear used to catch them is going to vary depending where you catch them at, you can handle a real nice one off the beach with medium spinning gear. Start catching them in current (which they love) in an inlet with 8-10 knot moving water and you better up your gear a bit, they will make beeline for the pylons. I've caught 1 or 2 snook in my life, this one on 15# braid, 30# leader mh rod, a little line capacity doesn't hurt, and a net, this one is 20-25lb.
That's a beast! Nice one.
Even snooks practice catch and release....

did you weight this snook?
Nope, it's just another fish. Not really into weighing fish, it's not important me. I doubt I'd weigh a 10#+ bass if I caught one, seeing as I don't carry a scale.
That's very very cool. Had a 10lb cat grab a 1lb bass i was reeling in once. Had my grandfather cast over with his bobber/minnow shortly after and land the cat.
Great video!
That bass looks kinda sickly?

LMB Angler
Are you Capt Danny Barrow? Because that is his video that he shot almost 2 years ago. it was widely circulated in FL and he is a very well known snook guide in the WPB area.
You are making it seem like you shot the video and that it is recent. He posted that video 9/2011.
Care to explain?

Actually, you said it was your friend's back yard. You did make it seem like you took the footage. No big deal, but it's better to be more forthcoming - someone will always figure out the full truth.

hey franco, whats your problem? every time i post a video or a post, you always attack me and being unsupportive towards my comments. your a moderator, and a moderator should not act like the way you do. your suppose to be helpful not unhelpful.
Looks like there's a miscommunication here. It does seem as though it was inferred that LMB implied he took the footage. Because it wasn't overtly explained, when LMB was referring to his friend, it was interpreted that he was talking about himself.
Simple mistake. It happens on forums.
Move along.
Danny Barrow comes out of the Boynton inlet quite often, I see him all the time but do not know him personally, his website is something like snookfishing .com. Listening to the voice on video I can't verify if it's him or not, IMO that snook is no where near 50#, Florida record is 44 lb I think. No question fish are caught larger than records but haven't been certified.
Snook being one of my favorite things to fish for in Fl when I go, I did not know that they could survive in freshwater. Might have to do some research and put a heater in my pond :-)

60 degrees is the magic number.
