With Ike's new show premiering tomorrow night on Nat Geo he decided to hit the streets of Philadelphia to do some sewer fishing. Love him or hate him Ike is a marketing guru. He's pretty funny too.

Iaconelli has a new series on Nat Geo Wild premiering on Friday, October 12th called "Fish My City" that looks pretty interesting. The guy is such a character I'd bet it's good TV - at least compared to most of the garbage on TV today.
Here's Ike fishing a storm drain in Philadelphia: https://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/local/City-Fishing-Catfish-Broad-Street-Center-City-Philadelphia--496731971.html?_osource=SocialFlowTwt_PHBrand
Of course, this may be a setup to promote his new show. Love his comment about using a soft pretzel for bait to "match the hatch".
LMAO, that's great. I've always been a Ike fan
I've stood right there a few times! Thanks for the post
Hilarious!
"Match the hatch" hahahahahaaaa with a piece of hotdog or pretzel hahahahaaaa

Right at the end he says 'I've caught a couple days, but I'm trying for fish's. Too funny.
How he managed to be so serious and not bust up laughing is beyond me! I'd love to spend a day with that guy.
Can’t help but wonder ... did he ever catch a sturdgeon. (Sorry, but I’m old and my mind, when it works, works in mysterious ways.)
Ike is who he is. I'm a fan. "I Like Ike".
Surprised he wasn't run over by a bus.
Thanks for reminding me of this premier. I looked for it on DVR a couple weeks ago but it was too far ahead then I forgot. I just DVRed it. Reminds me of this classic.
I feel silly asking this, is it gonna be a real show.

Yeah, but more about just urban fishing. The first episode is about stripers near NYC.
He had this show on before so i guess they are picking it up again.

Kudos for the Foghat reference.

Filmed one near Harrisburg on the Susquehanna.
He should do one in richmond VA too. There is a ton of in the city fishing here, i just don't do it because of all the people and well, class III-V rapids depending on water levels
That’s great! I walked by that corner a lot. We are big Ike fans up here.
I couldn't stand to watch Ike when he was younger doing break dances on the front of the boat and breaking rods during his anger rages, but now that he has toned it down a bit he has grown on me. I actually enjoy watching him now.
His shows in and around the Philly area were pretty decent. He keeps it for real. I've fished those same areas on the Delaware River and in toward the city. Decent mix of smallies and greenies. For the most part he is somewhat local to me. I've never met him though. I'm fine with the fact that he doesn't come off like a Hank Parkerish dude.

I see what he did there...
I have it set on the DVR, looking forward to watching his series!
Lol, a pretty good gag. I understand he rubs some people the wrong way, but come on -- sport fishing isn't Law Enforcement or Brain Surgery...it's recreation. And Ike positively radiates the pure joy of fishing in a way nobody else does.

At first I found it funny and amazing that nobody even the news reporter didn't know who he was! But then you stop and think about it and realize just how small our little fishing world is. Here's a Classic champ, AOY champ, Federation Nation champ, a guy who has won millions and made even more millions of dollars bass fishing and nobody knew who the heck he was. Pretty funny if you ask me.

I bet if he started screaming, ran back & forth on the street with the rod in his hand and kept repeating "it's a 10 pounder, dude" as he pulled up a 13 inch fish, most everyone would have realized it was him.
To be fair, it also drives me nuts when Roland Martin stammers "I got him, I got, him, I got him, I got him, I got him" every time he hooks up. Roland, I heard you the first time. Cut back on those 5 hour energy drinks and you won't be so hyper...

I'm pretty sure that the news reporter was in on this. The entire thing was a setup to promote the new show. By filming it they way that they did it's sure to go viral and the people that comment on it in social media will point out that it's Ike and he has a new show. It's kind of Marketing 101 in the age of social media.

Geez for being the president of the Mike Iaconelli fan club you sure are late to the party my friend. LOL
Are you at least going to watch it for the commercials? ????
Looks like he's fishing London tonight. From the picture I saw it looks like he's fishing "my" stretch of river. Wish I could watch it! Anyone know whether it's available online anywhere?

LOL. I didn't recognize him because he wasn't screaming down that catfish's throat.
As for Roland...AWWW SON!

There are no stripers in NYC! Everyone knows you have to go to Montauk or Jersey to catch stripers....
shhhhhhhhh....
45 minutes 'til launch!
Was the school of jacks some kind of metaphor, or just trying to punk the fresh water guys? Did ya'll even catch that?
His old show was called city limits, this sounds exactly the same . Maybe he is going to bring back Steve urkel and family matters too!
I thought the show was pretty good. I wish he would have chosen philly for the first show but i get why he chose NYC. I have them set to record on my dvr
