fishing user avatarHollisray reply :

O.K this may sound funny i began teaching my wife how to bass fish last spring .

now here is the question how many have wished they never did this mine seems

to love putting a wooping on me and brag for days on end about it I suppose she had

a good teacher L.O.L

fishing user avatarTNBassin' reply :

My wife is awesome. She won the lunker award in a tourney a few years ago on Douglas lake. She's a surgeon with a bait caster and the trolling motor. Couldn't ask for a better fishing buddy. She's easy on the eyes too. :surprised: I'm from Michigan and she's from Kentucky, so she thought us Yanks couldn't fish, and talked a ton of trash at first. That didn't last long though lol. Now she knows.

fishing user avatarTuckahoe Joe reply :

My wife is just starting out.  She's getting better at casting and beginning to pick up on a few techniques.  I just have to keep her away from trees.

fishing user avatarrockchalk06 reply :

Y'all's lucky. My fiancé won't go anymore. She went once last year when it was 90 plus. Didn't like the bugs and still thinks worms are icky. She won't listen when I tell her I haven't used a worm since I was 10 lol

A very high maintence women yes!

Blue, what kind of gloves are those? My wife has the "icky fish" syndrome and I cant find gloves she can effectively throw a spinning reel and still be full fingered

They're actually just thin gardening gloves. She doesn't wear them when she's fishing though, just for posing for fish pictures.

I need to find a rich one, so I can divorce her and take half her money.

fishing user avatarHollisray reply :

for large mouth. buy some black culprit worms and zoom ultra vibe craws and take her

out night fishing.Trust me that first 5 lb large mouth will change her mind.

fishing user avatarBassinB reply :

Mine loves being in the boat almost as much as I do. We hit the walleye run last weekend, she stuck it out through rain and 40 degree temps.  She caught more fish than me and all the ones we fileted for dinner. And she caught a freakin sturgeon...

fishing user avatarWisco Bass Hunter reply :

Mr Scrogg,

Berkley mashes some pink fishing gloves for women that my wife loves. You can find them online.

fishing user avatarMr_Scrogg reply :

Thanks Wisco

fishing user avatarBankbeater reply :

My wife went with me a couple of times when we were first married.  I knew it was over when she caught the turtle and kind of freaked out.

fishing user avatargravestone reply :

Me & my wife been fishing together for 36 years. She's as avid as anyone I know! We used to belong to 2 clubs where she was the only female angler in both clubs.

fishing user avatarMrsBassAssasin reply :

I am the daughter of a serious bass fisherman so I grew up with it as part of life. My husband jokes that the day found out i could back up a trailor & launch a boat was the day he decided he was marrying me! His buddys give him a hard time when I outfish him and I on occasion fish against him in tournaments! We are both very competitive but it is all in good fun! We share such a strong love for bass fishing. And gifts between us are ALWAYS fishing related. I love that we have a common hobby.

fishing user avatartomustang reply :

Yep.

fishing user avataraceman387 reply :

I solo it most of the time in my kayak because my wife is not much of a bass fisherman. She prefers fishing for crappie or perch with a slip bobber on the rare occasion she does fish. Her sport of choice is bow hunting.

fishing user avatarroadwarrior reply :

Mine doesn't fish.

fishing user avatarww2farmer reply :

My wife usually goes with me once or twice a year, she'll sit on the back deck with a spinning rod and a flick shake worm and skip/cast up under docks pretty well, or put it in weed holes. She catches fish.

fishing user avatarCatt reply :

Better Halfs Fishing Skills...ROFLMAO...None!

fishing user avatarboostr reply :

Mine goes fishing... if thats what you call it :cry4:

fishing user avataraceman387 reply :

My wife doesn't go out fishing with me very often which is fine by me because she prefers bobber fishing with live bait. She also likes to bring her cell phone along with her and chit chat with some of her children or family members while were out in the boat. I have been thinking about picking up another kayak for her so she can sit in her spot and bobber fish and i can paddle away to my seclusion.

fishing user avatarmnbassman23 reply :

My wife is pretty good at fishing and has been doing it for about 12 years thanks to her father. She also looks good tanning on the back deck of my Ranger. I taught her to pitch 2 seasons ago and now she is a pitching machine. Some days she makes me look silly, but I'm OK with that.

fishing user avatarSirSnookalot reply :

My wife doesn't fish at all.  There are 2 women that I know one in her 40's the other mid 50's.  They both throw cast nest and sabikis to catch live.    They both cast lures as well as men, I have seen both handle 40" snook and tarpon many times.  I've been with the older woman and her husband on their boat catching kings, dolphins and other offshore species, she handles that gaff like a charter captain, pretty good at the helm too.  Not many men out fish either one of these ladies.

That's the about extent of my better half.  I did get her to throw a hollow belly swimbait off the dock last year while we were just hanging out. I could tell she was enjoying it. Maybe when my little ones are old enough she will participate more.

fishing user avatarkickerfish1 reply :

Haven't taken my SO yet but she is the ultra competitive type. It wouldn't surprise if she has it figured out pretty well by fall and is putting the whooping on the fish.

I am in the same boat.  Bought a boat 5 years ago and I have yet to be able to get her out on it just me and her fishing.  We go out pleasure boating with the kids, but have not had a chance for her to get out fishing with me.  Can't wait till this summer.  I am hoping this will be the year when we can get out.  I am hoping she will enjoy it.  Especially since I don't fish with live bait anymore.

fishing user avatartatertester reply :

My wife is not up on the latest lures, techniques, etc, and just throws a line out with a senko attached, usually just nose hooked.I on the other hand uses various methods to hone my skills and broaden my bass fishing experience......Anyway , she often out fishes me!, and, I'm getting sick of hearing, "I think I got a bite, oh it's a fish!".

fishing user avatarRoLo reply :

Beginning in 1965 (2nd year of our marriage), every vacation that Lois & I took was a fishing vacation (without exception).

During the first couple of decades, Lois would ask a million questions but really didn't add much to the fish stringer.

Well, the tables have turned, and during the past several years she routinely outfishes me.

It was cute in the beginning, but now I'm just the captain who puts her on fish.

She will tell you that she owes it all to me, because she also knows how to protect a man's ego.

I think I liked it better when she was asking questions :laughing7:

fishing user avatarAK-Jax86 reply :

My girlfriend loves to fish with me. I haven't taken her out with me lately I am gonna take her out with me this weekend to our favorite spot. Nothing better than when your significant other enjoys the hobbies that you do. I must admit she usually catches more fish than me but I usually always catch the biggest lol.

fishing user avatarmoguy1973 reply :

My wife always seems to outfish me when we go.  I think it's mainly because I'm always fishing for the big ones with bigger baits when she's throwing a little 1/4oz rooster tail because it's easy to cast out and just reel in.  She catches the numbers, while I spend time getting her fish off the hook and I don't get as much fishing in like I do when I'm alone.

fishing user avatarNitrofreak reply :

Well , if you call sleeping on the boat a skill , she has me beat !

The weather has to be absolutely perfect for her before I can fish out in the open , too hot , we are looking for shade , too cold we are headed for camp , or home , too early , well , let's just say she is not a morning person and leave it at that , too dark , I won't let her fish , so she does not like to go LOL !!

All in all , she has been with me many times , I enjoy the time we get the opportunity to do so , just recently she has opened up to fishing different things other than a live worm , this past summer she used a drop shot for the first time and caught her first bass on it within the first 5 minutes , she also fished a Senko , and caught her first bass on it within the first 5 minutes , she skunked me both times and she never let's me live it down , I rarely if ever have a line in the water when I am teaching her how to fish something new other than to show her how to use the equipment , I will take the shame of being skunked by her any day , as long as she keeps smiling and having fun doing it .

fishing user avatargr8outdoorz reply :

my fiancee is an avid fly fisher. Put a fly rod in her hand and she will fish all day. When I take her bass fishing...she always brings a book on the boat for when she gets bored.

fishing user avatarrmcguirk reply :

My wife has no real interest in fishing. I go early and she meets me at the dock, generally bringing lunch. Which is nice. Probably just to humor me, she'll make a few casts with a spinning rod generally rigged up with a wacky jig. She'll usually catch a quick bass and be done for a nap and some reading. Good company and she takes pics if I catch a good one.
