If you guys could pick 2 days to go out... 2024

fishing user avatarBass Justice reply :

I have a fun question for everyone. I want to get on the lake and my schedule is wide open for the next 10 days. Below is a snapshot of my weather forecast for the next 10 days.

If you could pick any TWO days to fish, which would they be and why?

Note: If you're wondering about the weather the past week, it's been pretty consistent with the first Thursday weather forecast. A mix of rain and cold nights, closer to lower 40's at night though.

 Also i'm in a Yak!

Thanks!

-Mike

fishing user avatarDogfish_Jones reply :

Tuesday April 19th and the 20th.

On the 19th, you have cloud cover and the bass will not be holding so tight to shade. The bass will be more adapt to go further out for your lure.

On the 20th, most of the same but you might catch the forthcoming front pressure coming in and the bass will be more active.

From the 13th to the 15th, rain of course hampers you.

April 17th and 18th, would be fine but you ask for the best two days.

April 22nd, rain coming back in.

fishing user avatarA-Jay reply :

Fish whenever you can - But if I had to pick 2 trips with the best chance to catch a big bass . . . .

I'd go with Tues April 19th - At Night

And some time Thurs & Fri the 21st and / or 22nd of April.  Prime time might be the hours right before & during the start of the barometric pressure drop.  Might be in the darkness late Thursday night or pre-dawn hours of Friday morning.

btw ~ Full Moon - rises 8:47 pm your local time on the 22nd.

Good Luck

A-Jay

i usually just get to fish on the weekends, with everybody and their brother doing the same.  so i'd go anytime during the weekdays that i could!

fishing user avatarslonezp reply :

If you have my luck, whatever days you choose, one will be the day before they were biting and the other, the day after they were biting.

lol, i could go all 10 days straight and would still be the same luck as you!

fishing user avatarCatt reply :

After a 5 day warming trend I would pick the 21st & 22nd

fishing user avatarMosster47 reply :

Sunday and Wednesday. You are post front, it's hot, and there is decent wind. Zero reason to not put a lot of fish in the boat with those conditions.

fishing user avatarBankbeater reply :

April 19 and 20.  It looks like the 19th is the warmest day and the temp starts cooling down from there.  The water takes longer to cool down so it stay warmer, longer.

fishing user avatarOregon Native reply :

21/22

fishing user avatarBassWhole! reply :

Give me the thunderstorms in the spring, cloud cover with some wind pre frontal, and warming trend in that order. But to answer your question, today and tomorrow...

fishing user avatarHurricane reply :

Sunday and Monday... Just because the weather looks good and it would be awesome to take a Monday off to avoid work and enjoy my favorite sport...

fishing user avatarRatherbfishing reply :

Except for the Thunderstorm part of it, my first choice would be Friday, April 22nd.  My second choice...maybe Thursday, April 21st.  A somewhat extended warm up period and no northerly wind on Friday makes this probably the best.  But in the spring it can be all over the place so it's harder to predict.

fishing user avatardrc9805 reply :

I'm definitely not that experienced but it seems like Sunday the 17th would be that first blue bird sky high pressure day that usually isn't so good or recommended. I would start with the 19th and or any day after that although I'm not a fan of the wind being out of the N.

Night fishing in April? Maybe in Georgia I guess..

I'd just go the 2 least windy days, Monday the 18th and Tuesday the 19th. Possibly Thursday the 21st. Wind is really the limiting factor imo, especially if going in a kayak.

Personally I arrange trips more based on what conditions are enjoyable to fish in, less around when the fish will biting the best. Probably why I always seem to be out on bright calm days during high pressure systems.

fishing user avatarblckshirt98 reply :

19th and 20th for me too.  Days right after a rain have always been super tough for me so 16th and 17th are out.  18th there's almost no wind.  19th and 20th you have some cloud cover and a slight breeze coming through and the rains are 3 days past.

Predators take advantage of any & every situation they can get - including low light feeding.

When bass are willing to strike a bait during day light, anytime & anywhere including April in Georgia, they will also do it at night.

Be careful though, it's a little scary and you might get your arm broke.

fishing user avatarthe reel ess reply :

Today and tomorrow. Always. But looking at the weather, Sat & Tues. Those look like the days where fish might be most likely to chase bait. We like to fish under bluebird skies, but usually, fish don't seem to agree. My best days have been lower-light conditions. Cooler, even.

fishing user avatareyedabassman reply :

Any of the days from the 18 to the 22 as the later is better as the water warms and gets the fish moving.Winds are a bit lite but some wind is better than no wind for me.Depends on water color too!

fishing user avatarBass Justice reply :

Wow guys thanks a lot!! I was thinking the 19th and 20th as well but I love all the different views you guys offer

I'm a little surprised regarding this comment as well. I love bass fishing at night, but I always saw it as a Summertime technique?

That's the popular consensus ~ Summer time is the only time bass can be caught at night - Why is that ?

It's definitely at time that's more comfortable for anglers than the dog days of Summer.

So bass at night in April ?     Guess you'll never know if you never try.

I'm probably way off anyway.

Regardless you've convinced me. I have pond that I have fished at night from the bank close by that I can throw my kayak into, I see having a great night in my future. I'm going to try and go Tuesday or Wednesday night!

fishing user avatarSimp reply :

I think location is key. Your in Georgia and it's a crap ton warmer then most of the country right now. I'm in Chicago right now about to head him for 7-10 days in in about a week to the southern part of IL. I'm trying to time getting home about a week or two before the bass are on beds. Current water temps from what I've been able to gather is still in the very low 50's. So the bright warm sunny days might actually be the better days to fish. Normal I like pre frontal overcast conditions 99% of the time, but a windy warm blue bird day can be great when your looking at water temps still in the 50s.

I would pick mon /tues  the 18th and 19th because of the light wind . I just fished from a yak for the first time saturday . I was fishing a river and it was very windy . Half the time I made a cast the wind would turn me around . No fun .

Yeah it is TOUGH. Kayak fishing has only made my thirst for a nice Bass Boat more intense, but I am enjoying it nonetheless. A stakeout pole, trolley system,  and a good anchor is a must. I might invest in a Power Pole Micro one day, but i'm getter at managing wind and current with each trip I take

I've also decided to go out tomorrow night (Tuesday) to a nicely stocked pond like A-Jay suggested. I might also go out Thursday for an all day adventure as well since that's the day before a front and the last day in a nice warming trend. I will post pics of my catches when I return home
