I do realize that a lot of you fish different places but just curious to know how far or how long does it take you to get to the places you fish most often?
For me it takes 30 minutes with no traffic. With traffic it can take up to 45 minutes. I wish the ponds weren't so far so i could fish more often.
About 30 - 45 minutes for my favorite spots too.
I can walk across the street and catch bluegills, closest pond with bass in the 4 pound plus range is maybe 2 minutes driving with a 5 minute walk. Fatherest I go is about 20 minutes.
I'm fortunate to live near a very productive mill pond in town; two minute drive, tops. Other decent locations are 10 minutes out. If I ever get a boat, there are a ton of nice lakes within the half hour sphere and some larger ones beyond that.
1hr with no traffic to my home lake. 50min with no traffic to the ramp on Lake Michigan (Chicago) Same ride could be 2 1/2hrs with traffic.

So where in LV do you fish. When I lived there I didn't fish, just curious if any of the golf course ponds or desert shores have fish or you go to lake mead? I recently saw Tule Springs but didn't ever hear of it when I lived out there is it new?

I fish at Floyd Lamb Park (Tule Springs). I just started fishing there couple months ago but I dont believe its new. I have yet to fish at Lake Mead as I am still trying to research it for the best places to shore fish. Lake Mead is also 45 minutes away.
1hr to get to my home lake, about 20 mins to fish the river which is where i mostly fish in july and 3hrs to fish cave run lake or cherokee lake which i fish about 2 or three times a year each
Its a 6 minute bike ride to a lake which have like 4lb and over bass there, and a 10 minute ride to my secret ponds.
A round trip to my current favorite lake is 126 miles. I could cut that by a few miles, but when I am pulling my boat pre-dawn and after dark, I try to stay on paved roads with wide shoulders as much as possible. I am an hour and a half, maybe 2 hours from Truman to the closest decent ramp. (Bucksaw Point) It is another 20 minutes or so to Long Shoal.
Favorite waters are 1 hour, 1 1/2 hours, 10 hours and 17 hours.
Closest is about 100 feet.
Family lake house is a shade under 3 hours for me. I fish areas with in 1 hour travel time of there. In IL, I fish shore bound fox river 15-20 minute driving distance or Lake Michigan 50 min to 2 hours....depending on the dreadful traffic.
closest is probably about 10 mins, but ill go up to an hour or more to fish new spots.
My two main spots I fish are 40 mins and 1hr 45 mins. respectively. There are ponds closer but the closest boatable lakes are all 40 mins +
Jeff
I live about 1/8th of a mile from my home lake takes longer to hook the boat up than the drive to the ramp lol
Usually 1-2 hours one way for a day trip. If the drive is longer than that, I'll spend at least 3 days.
Furthest I go is about 35-40 mins but all my everyday spots are all within 5 mins of my house.
I am taking a trip to Daytona this weekend and I am going to do some fishing
I am fortunate to have lots of bodies of waters to fish where I live. We have a river that goes through the city I live in, takes about 5 minutes to get to. A conservation area that is free if you walk in or you can get in from other public areas of the reservoir (10 mins). 2 man made ponds (10 mins), 20 mins away is another lake and river north of us, another 20 mins west is another river (one of the better river systems), ponds there...and 20 mins south west of us, two lakes and a back wood pond that I keep to myself. Lots of opportunities for me, but my two favorite is the local reservoir and ponds because they are so close. I want to do more river fishing, but I haven't done that yet. Really need to do some scouting with my canoe.
The community lake that I fish the most is about 10 min. from my house and just a few blocks from my office. I occasionally make the 1.5 hr drive to any one of four larger reservoirs in the area.
Tom
i usually fish a pond about 20 minutes from the house but I have no problem driving 1.5-2hrs to go fish one of the 5 big lakes/reservoirs near me or even the 6 or 7 80-150 acre lakes.
Up to a 3 hour drive for 1 day tournaments. Longer drives I would rather sleep over than tow the boat home after a full day of fishing.
15 minutes to the St. John's River, but have to fish when the tide is right. Other than that as far away as an hour drive. There are small lakes all over here, but some of the ones I fished have dried up.
5 minutes for the ponds I fish, 15 min for my home lake, 8hrs for my favorite lake.
I only fish my local neighborhood lakes; closest is 2 miles, farthest is 6 miles. Smallest pond I fish is about 1.5 acres, the biggest lake I fish is 200+ acres.
10 minutes to the mouth of the Fox river/lower Green Bay. An hour to the upper bay. So far this year I've made a trip to Ky. lake 1300 mi round trip and 2 trips to the Mississippi river pools 9/10 . 500 mi. round trip. Leaving tomorrow for another 10 day attack on the Mississippi river bass population.
My local waters are all with in an hour round trip.
My favorite smb place is an 8 hour drive south east.
And my favorite lmb waters involve a commercial flight, a brief stop at Customs, followed by private air travel.
A-Jay
10 min drive to my home lake, and 1-3 hour drive to all the other lakes I fish.
I used to walk about fifty feet to the ohio river. Since the divorce I have not got to fish as much. But I can be at about 20 bodies of water to fish within 30 minutes of where I live.
8 minutes to the closest launch on Champlain, 8 minutes to the closest "bass" water. 45-50 minutes to the ole trailer park pond (set PB there 3 times).
30 minutes is about where I cut the radius. My current set up with my patriot and 14' limits me some on landings and my trailer isn't great for long hauls. I'm hoping to upgrade in the fall when people don't want to winterize their boats.
45 minutes to an hour and a half, each way for fishing around home.
In keeping with the title of the thread, I travel as much as 24 + or - hours to fish with the gang that attends the Bass Resource Road Trip. Doesn't matter, Pickwick, KY Lake, Guntersville, they are all 1200+ miles. But, I make it almost a two week trip. Two to three days travel round trip, depending on whether or not I drive straight through, and nine to eleven days of fishing.

.....and then a margarita!
20 min to launch on my home river pool. 40 min to either pool 11 or 13. every pools launch is about 40 min apart. have access to a private pond that thankfully nobody but a handful of people have access to about 30 min away in a neighboring small township.
Kissimmee - 75 minutes
Harris - 90 minutes
Istokpoga - 2 hours
Okeechobee - 3 hours
Stick Marsh - 2 hours
There are another 50 decent lakes within an hour.
Within 15 minutes there are several big fish pits. The fish pic to the left came out of one last year.
Central Florida is a wonderful place.

A big fish pit? Would that be a strip pit or something completely different?

Old phosphate pits (50-60 years old) that have been turned into county parks. They have good big fish populations. Most of them don't get fished very hard because they require a different approach to catch fish. If you know how to fish them, they can be a lot of fun.
Home lake Is 15 minutes from my door to the ramp. I fish two(2) private ponds down in the eastern part of the state(5 hours) several times a year and at least once a year go to either Jordan, Falls, or shearon Harris lake(s) which are from three(3) to four(4) hours from the house.
home marsh is 5 min from house.where I catch my big fish is 45 min and I sometimes go to Toledo bend which is 90 min from house
The drive time to the nearest lakes around me are about 5 min., 15 min., and 30 min. However, those lakes have very heavy fishing pressure. A trip down to the Ozarks, depending on the lake I am going to, takes anywhere from about 2 hrs to 5 hrs.
Smallmouth stream in my back yard, home lake 5 mins to the first launch, fav lake to frog about an hour, fav elec lakes about 1.5 hours, fav BIG lake 1 hr. Great Lakes/Chautaqua = 3 hours
I have a seasonal RV on a lake about 180 miles away that I use as my home base (North Central MN). From there, I have about 20 lakes within 15 minutes that all hold great numbers of LMB. Not the size you all have in the south but they fight like they're twice as big. MY PB is about 5.5 lbs (profile picture). I didn't weigh this one because I was just driving around with my wife scouting and stopped at a roadside drainage threw out my Scumfrog and bam! Fat ole female. Regardless of weight though, it's the biggest bass I've caught.
for freshwater i have 2 canals and a lake that i could walk to all of them in about 1 minute...they are all same distance just different directions
for saltwater thats a tough one...i love fishing the jupiter inlet and also the lake worth spillway and the jupiter inlet is about 40 mins or so away...the lake worth spillway is about 20 minutes away
other than that i dont have a problem driving 4 or 5 hours one way for a spot if the wife will let me haha
In MN, i just walk down to my dock. ive got a boat with aces to over 26,000 fishable acres through a river chain including a 16,000 acre lake within about a 15 minute boat ride. And hundreds, if not thousands of lakes within a 2 hour drive. Sometimes i will drive up to lake of the woods MN/CA, which is about a 3-4 hour drive. Or the french river in canada which is about a 5-6 hour drive.
In wyoming, anywhere from 1/2 mile to 200 miles depending on where i want to go. But usually within 20 miles average.
2 minute bike ride to the end of my street pond.
7 minute bike ride to another pond next to a community pool.
15 minute bike ride to my favorite gold course pond.
I can walk to Falls Lake Hickory Hills boat ramp in 10 mins. It's a 4 mile roundtrip from 'garage' to ramp. It's taken me 15 years to finally get a boat and fish it.
I have 4 boatable lakes within 15 minutes of the house but my average drive is about an hour to much better lakes.
15 minutes to my favorite lake, 45 to the next closest, and an hour and 15 to the dink factory.
During the week I'll fish a very small lake that is about 10 minutes away from my house. I go different places during the weekend but the place I go to the most is about 30-45 minutes away. I will travel up to 3 hours sometimes on the weekend.
My home lake is 5 minutes from my door the to ramp. It is a large TVA impoundment. Norris Lake
Dale Hollow 2 1/2 hours.
Forth Loudon 1 hour 15 minutes.
Cherokee Lake 1 hour
Chickumagua 3 hours
Tellico 1 and 1/2 hours
Guntersville 3 to 3 and 1/2 hours according to the traffic.
Douglas Lake 2 hours.
As you can see I live close to some great fishing.
I got 5 or 6 spots within 20 mins.
Best spots 60-90 minutes
We're pretty lucky in northern Ontario -- I think we have close to 10,000 lakes in the neck of the woods I live in. Not sure if you'd want to fish many of them but they're there.
At any rate, favourite lake is about 1hr with no traffic, favourite river is about 30 minutes. I've driven up to 2 hours to go fishing and 6 hours via airplane. Okay, on that last one it was my sister's wedding in the Turks & Caicos but I also went for the bonefish
I have a few decent places within 30 minutes, but the better lakes for me are usually around 1-1.5 hours away.
