I've done it a time or two. ;-)
Yep, you say your sick but then post pictures on Facebook of you fishing then remember your playing sick....
Depends... are you my boss under cover??
Nope. When I come back the next day I would have twice the work waiting for me.
I am not friends with any of my work people on Facebook. However most guys I work with fish too. ;-)

Alright! bosses orders!!
Yup ~ In fact I've Been Out Sick since 2007
I am inflicted with something called Bassaholism - perhaps you're heard of it.
The is no know cure - so I'll take this one to the dirt.
A-Jay
Nope
I only call in sick when I am sick, but I have thought of it just can't pull the trigger.
We wouldnt do that now .. would we?
Or would we?

came in to say this
No.
I own the company so I just go.
If anyone wants me they can call me on my cell phone or my secretary can call and tell me to call someone.
Never called in sick to go fishing.
But strange enough, usually I start feeling better after I make the call. It's like there's medicinal value in calling in sick!
I'd like to be my own boss one day.... Sounds nice sam haha!
I can neither confirm nor deny...
Yep, just a couple times though.
nah i never have but i have split out early to go fishing. Like has been said earlier though, it isn't like my workload would change it just means i have less time to do the same work, well that was when i was working. been unemployed since May but it seems like i am more busy now lol
Now if you asked did i ever skip classes in college to go fishing, the answer is a resounding yes and to go climbing, backpacking, hiking etc....probably why i too a year or two off after ever 2 semesters or so...got in the way of having fun

I am in the same boat as you. If the conditions line up right & it doesn't create any major problems, I will play hookey.
Almost did this Monday when there was a chance that part of a Pacific hurricane would bring clouds & some scattered showers to our normally dry & sunny county. Over the weekend, the weather reports changed and said the storms would stay further inland (which they did). d**n...
I dont know what youre talking about
Mayyyyybbbbeeeeee. .
No need to, I'm my own boss.
I don't have a job, but I've skipped school to go fishing after lunch. I also planned my college classes around the times that I prefer to go fishing.
Of course not...
Call out sick?
I can't answer that.......but now being retired its different I have plenty of time.
Ha, yea I have. Fortunately it's not a work overload problem as with my job I can work remotely, check emails if I need to, etc. Sure it might require me to put down the rod and answer an email, but I get to do it from a boat, and not a laptop in a grey cubicle. So it's worth it IMO.
Speaking of......the weather's supposed to be nice and mild next week
You never know when you will come down with a case of fishingitis.
I get a lot of sick days to use through my work. I use them when I am sick of work.
Yes, cough cough. It is getting nice out now and I am starting to feel alil under the weather. I really get feeling bad when the rut is going hard and a cold snap comes in....

This.
No ... never ...
I guess you can say I do it all the time. The conversation usually goes like this....
Me: Hey, Art. I'm not gonna be able to make it in today.
My boss: You got your boat hooked up already this morning?
Me: I'm halfway to the lake.
My boss: (laughing) Ok, we'll see ya tomorrow
All cell service is lost about 5 miles from the lake, so I can't call from the ramp.
Yes!!! They work us 6 days a week and all d**n day and night... I called off today actually!!! Im going fishing at 5pm-8.
nope, never done it. too many times ive called out sick, and actually been sick, that work calls me back at home on the house phone later to ask me a question about something. if i could just call in and be left alone for the day, i would probably do it.
I have taken a paid day off to go fishing. Where I work, we don't have sick days. If you aren't there you use a paid day off, except for jury duty, bereavement, or a maternity/paternity leave.
My "sick" days are usually reserved for when I want to go fishing. If I'm really sick then I tough it out just so I can call out to fish at another date. Only chance I get to be on the water during a weekday...I mean no! Of course I don't!
Are you kidding me, on a weekly basis! JK...But in all seriousness, yes I've called in twice in my life to go on a fishing trip
My boss would always ask if I had lake fever, when I said yes he would want to know which lake was causing it. Then he would usually meet me there for the day .!!!!!!!!
I haven't missed a day due to being sick. I don't get sick often, but I always show up. Funny thing is I would have to call off a fishing trip if I called in!
Sure have, One morning i called in sick, I got to the lake unloaded boat and was going down the lake, There was a point i had planned to fish. Came around the bend, and saw a boat already there fishing. Done a double take and noticed it was my bosses boat. So i hunkered down in the boat and done a U-turn, my heart was racing like oh crap maybe he didn't see me. About 20 min went by, and i was almost at the other end of the lake. Look and my phone and i had a missed call, yup you guessed it from HIM. Awkward. I didn't know what to do, i couldn't even enjoy my fishing from worrying if he saw me. Then i received a text from him. It said "Need help catching all these fish, park your boat and hop in mine" I busted out laughing with a sigh of relief. Pulled up beside him and we both where grinning like a kid getting caught with his hand in the cookie jar..Turned out to be a great day.
Owning a business there were many days when I had nothing on the books, free to fish or golf. Didn't always work out that way, had to leave the course or water many times to go trouble shoot a situation.
As tempting as it is, I hope I never get to that point. I feel like if I do it once, then it will lead to a possibility of becoming a habit. College comes to mind, where I skipped classes I didn't like and went fishing instead. I kind of regret it actually.
Be careful not to get raccoon eyes. It will be a dead giveaway when you come in to work the next day.
I usually plan ahead but I admit there are times I've wanted to.
Fishing was great this past weekend. Cough. Cough. I feeling kind of sick.
I met some guy at the dock yesterday who was skipping work to fish from shore and i ended up taking him out on my boat for 4 hours and we killed it. I was thinking about this post the entire time
Yes, I've called off sick to go fishing.
I'm actually starting a new job this coming Monday, and rather than finish out the work week I quit today so I can get an extra day of fishing in before I start at the new company.
I WISH I COULD! I am a Solider and we dont get to "call in sick". We have to go to sick call and get approved by a physician to stay home if we are contagious. Otherwise, it's back to work sick guy! Now that I think about it, it's kind of dumb. And I am a Medic!!!
Never. I just declare that I'm using a sick day. That way, there's no bad juju or jinxing myself, lol.
Nope. If I did something like this I'd wreck my truck or blow up my outboard. Karma I guess. Its just how things work for me.

You know you can set most home phones to forward calls to another number...say...a cell phone number...

just thinking about every time i skipped high school..... literally every time something would happen. wrecked a truck once, blew a tire once, got caught at the bowling alley by a family member, ran out of gas 4 wheeling, just too many times it happened!!!
Every now and then I take some PTO to give myself a long weekend, but I've never called in to go fishing.
One time I got a call around 11 from a guy who used to work with us (retired now) asking if I wanted to go fishing. My boss let me go on the spot.
