Welcome aboard!
Almost impossible to do an analysis of that
bass even with your friend's height. How far
is the bass in front of him, etc., are other
things that would need to be known.
The bottom line is any of us will only provide
a best guess. In the 4 pound range is mine.
Sorry it is so wide, but tough to know for sure.
It has a good-size head, probably a female and
all spawned out... Just my .02.
Others may have a better guess.
Edited by Darren.I would guess 3-3.5 pounds. It has head and length of a larger fish, but looks to be on the thin side. If it had more of a belly that fish could go over 4 easy.
I guess 4lb.
looking at it i'd say around 4 or 5 lb,...its belly doesnt look full
Looks kind of skinny for it's length. It's really hard to judge but I would say 3.5lb
That's a 12 lber if I ever saw one ? That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~
Nice bass.
So you guys saw & held that fish but you're having difficulty determining it's size ?
Imagine how we feel.
These items are very helpful with that.

That's exactly what I was thinking when I first saw it, but been wrong before, frequently!!
Hard to tell without seeing the belly as well. With that being said I have pulled a bunch this season out of ponds very similar in size and I am 5'11 as well, and they were all right at 3lb or just above
That is a DD !!! (decent/dink) Really, 4 lbs would be my guess, but my scale shrinks all my fish.
Based on average finger/hand size the bass is approx 21 1/2" long, average body girth about 75% of the length. Formula length X length X girth / 1200 = 6 lbs.
Tom
PS, simply cut a length of line for length and girth or... Get a scale.
4lbs
Ain't no way that bass is over 3-3 1/4 lbs!
I'd say between 18-20 inches long...between 3.0 - 3.5 lbs.

Next time take a photo with the rod/reel up against it. When you get home look at the picture and put a tape measure to your rod/feel and you'll come close to its length.
3.5 pounds I'd say. Maybe a nice one for the area you fish.

I'm guessing its under 7 lbs
None of you guys won that Guess-The-Weight contest, right? I want a scale like Glen uses!!!
4 pounds
3-3.5 lbs.

Ditto the can't really know in a photo but at least it is held close to his body. I'd say, not over 3.

I can't help much, but I am curious as to why it is really important
