Ok guys, what is you largest bass this year and what bait you caught it off of.
Well 4.5 lbs off a 4" YUM Crawbug(Red Shad Green Metal Flake) and missed one last Saturday about 7-8 lbs on a 3.25" YUM Crawbug(Louisiana Crawfish) she broke my rod, line and all. I cried :'(. then drank a COLD BEER and went home....REAU
5 3/4 lb Smallmouth caught 4/9/06 @ 1:30 p.m. Fish took a 2 1/2 in crooked creek tube watermelon/ black/copper flake off of large chunk rock. A beautiful smallie if I do say so myself! ( I figured Roadwarrior would appreciate this the most! ;D)
For smallmouth a 21.5" fish that earned me big bass honors at our first club tournament caught off a Gene Larew 4.5" Mega Ring Shad. Largemouth bass was a 4 pound fish caught off a 4.5" Gene Larew skirted ring tube.
7pounds 13oz. caught at lake istokpoga during a club tourney. the thing that sucked, is another member of my club caught an 8pound 5oz. fish the same day.
4Lb LM on a weightless senko wacky style.
3lb spot on a white/shad spinner bait with double willows. April 30.
3.5lb LM on a weightless watermelon 4" slim senko. Mid april.
4.5lb Hybrid in the river on a white/chrome chatterbait. That sucker hit like a truck and pulled like a dozer. Best fight of the year so far. April 29
Keep in mind WV doesnt have a lot of big bass, our state record is only 12+lbs. Only, lol.
I'm not sure which is the pb of the year.
I know this one was 6 lb 1 oz (I finally got a digital scale that I can trust) taken on a Berkley Power Hawg on the fall (04/16/06)
I got this one on New Year's Day with a Firetiger Rattlin' Rapala on the fall, scale said 8, but I don't know if I want to trust that old scale too much
11.45 lbs (length 25.5; girth 18.5) caught on a black & white H&H spinnerbait. I also caught one 8.68 lbs.
Don't know the size but its my personal best. Until this weekend of course. ;D
I hate to brag but.........take a look at my pb and weep boys.........
Best bass this year was SO FAR was 6.75 on a horny toad. That was back in mid February. Thats winter for most folks but in SE Florida it's when the bass spawn.
4 lbs on a Sizmic Toad.
Marion
6.5 lber--23"--on a Vertical Jig X on 1/28/06:
6.5 lber--23.5"--on a Chatterbait on 4/14/06:
Coincidentally, those were the first Bass for me on each of those baits.
Dan
6.5 on a quarter oz rattletrap.
A 7.5 pounder and a 5.5 pounder on a crankbait. And two 4.5 pounders and another 5.5 pounder on yum crawbug. Needless to say that this has been my best year so far! ;D
QuoteI hate to brag but.........take a look at my pb and weep boys.........
;D ;D ;D ........I caught one like that on a buzzbait last year and didnt even realize he was on it while reeling in.After I casted the buzzbait again (not knowing he was still on it) my partner says "Trying out a new trailer?" I had no clue what he was talking about.
5 lbs in April on a Cordell Super Spot 3/4 oz in Rayburn Red.
5 LBS so far this year. I caught it in early March on a black colorado blade spinnerbait burned just under the surface. I think that this bass may have been more than 5# because I weighed it on a $2 yard sale scale that measures the weight with a spring :-[
I think I am going to break the 5 # mark soon. I just started fishing a new lake yesterday and caught a 4 # and went there today and caught a 4.8 #. The swimbaits are paying off.
5lbs 2 oz, on a Zoom trick worm 5-7-06, pre spawn. Up north 5lbers are decent, so thats my goal each year to latch on to at least 1 5lber. Last year I caught 3. Whats weird about this year, I have only caught 1 fish between 4 and 5 lbs, but tons of 2 and 3 lbers. Last year I had a lot more 4+ lbers at this point in the season.
5lbs 12ozs (my PB) that was caught on a spinnerbait caught in early april.
22" LM in early May. I don't have a scale so I don't know what it weighed. I caught it on a watermelon Zoom Horny Toad. It jumped completely out of the water as it hit the bait about 3ft. from the bank I was standing on. It wasn't much of a fight as I only turned the reel handle a couple times before I lipped it.
6-0 caught on May 2 on a Sizmic Toad. My goal was(is) to catch an 8+ this year. If I don't catch it here in the next couple weeks, I don't think it's going to happen.
I just got this a few weeks ago... 5lbs 8 ounces... hope there are more 5+ pounders to catch this year.... I would be beside myself to get a 6 pounder this year...
7-3 on a Sweet Beaver in March
6 pounder caught yesterday, I caught it on a 5" green Senko. I'm goin to VA for a couple of weeks in a month or so. Hopefully I'll beat my PB of 8 1/2 lbs when I go down there.
I caught an 8 pound 5 ounce Florida LM bass last Sunday morning at 6:05 AM on a Strike King Bleeding Bait Series white w/red buzzbait.Bent that thing all to hail and back. Also caught a 4 pound 1 ounce LM pitching a watermelon candy 4" FLW tube into a laydown.I've caught an 8-5 and an 8-2 so far this spring.
6 lb smallie caught while I was walleye fishing on a jighead tipped with a leech.
Only numbers of LM for me this year. I've been trying lot's of new places/baits and trying to up my game. I've been out with a couple of tourney guys and I see that I need to step it up if I'm gonna do any tourney fishing. These massive impoundments are way different than all of the farm ponds that I grew up on. Nothing over 4lbs. for me so far this year. They get much larger than that here in S. KS. I'll post if I catch a monster!
4.8 lbs. I like to leave some room for improvement...
Last weekend(ish) on a 5" green pumpkin Strike King ZERO
QuoteI hate to brag but.........take a look at my pb and weep boys.........
I hope you were using braided line. ;D
3/14/06 @12:15 pm - 9lb 1oz. on a 5" green pumpkin SENKO.
4 pounds even on a Peanut Butter Jelly Bannana Bandit Medium Diving Crankbait out of a 30 acre Indiana farm pond in mid-April.
4 pounds 8 ounces on a 5" Senko (Purple Pearl w/Blue Flake). I have lost a couple that were probably 5+. :'(
Weight: 205 lbs
Length: 68inches
Girth: way over the limit
Species: Manbass
Bait: fifth of Jack Daniels
Place: unidentified bass boat
What I really want to comment on is Don_B's baby bass. Isn't it amazing how agressive and spirited little bass are? I (the human "I") often catch bass no bigger than a #11 Rapala, and they sock it like
a home-run hitter. Evolution at work. From the day they are out in the world, every little bass seems to know to get moving, keep moving, eat on the move. --Just like great bass fisherfolk.
Great fish from Day One.

QuoteIsn't it amazing how agressive and spirited little bass are?Yes it is. I've caught plenty of big bass over the years, but it still surprises me when you pull a pretty decent-sized lure out of the water with a little bass like that on the end of it. If they got big enough, I'm sure they'd eat us too without much reservation.
This is a fish I caught in Lake Toho, FL on a 5" YUM dinger - Ozark Smoke 5/10/2006
scaned from a poloroid(fish held toward camera).
Captured from video(same fish).
Notice the color difference and overall appearence of me and the fish. Neither picture was streched or altered in any way.
She weighed 9 lbs 6 oz.
*Just want to point out that I am more impressed by many of the other fish posted. Any fish trophy is relative to the water from where it was caught. A fish like this is less rare in Lake Toho, than a 5 or 6 pounder where some of yours was caught. It's compairing apples and oranges really.
AmBASSador,
I don't know about that "relative to the water from where it was caught". Although I appreciate your modesty, 9 lbs 6 oz. is a GREAT bass!
Congratulations. I can't wait to see some of your "big" bass.
I've caught a couple that went 5ish. Both on Senko's. Been a really slow year for large fish here. Craziest weather I've seen in my parts this spring in awhile.
Largest one this year was 4lbs 5oz off a neon black yum crawbug 3.5"inch version

Dido, I have caught 2 now that are 5ish and both on green Senkos. But two days ago I caught a 28lb carp. That was fun.
