Hello everyone Tom here,
I have a bit of a question when it comes to my BASS Membership/Bassmaster magazine subscription. I have recieved my first issue of the magazine, but none of the other offers which were offered (eg the tackle bag/DVD/Membership ID card). My question is has this happened to anyone else? I contacted Bassmaster directly and got legitimately no help. I kid you not the email said that they would contact me later with help. A day later I recieved another email saying that I had "called in" and the issue had already been resolved, but I never contacted them via phone, only email. So I'm kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place because I want to access the Digital Bassmaster but have no membership number and what not.
IF anyone else has experienced this, or they recieved their "goodies" after recieving the magazine please let me know. I'm a bit worried that I'll never get this resolved and would appreciate any help possible.
Thanks,
Tom
It will take 6-8 weeks to get the stuff. Your magazine just gets put in the subscription flow like everyone else. If you don't see it in the next 3-4 weeks I'd call in.
I received 2 magazines in the mail before my "goodies" arrived... It literally took right at 8 weeks for me.
As Mark said, it takes time, the items come from different locations and each have their own schedule. I did not get the bag one renewal.
You can access the digital bassmaster with the account number on your first magazine.

This has the instuctions...
Everyone be on the alert.
You will receive either a telephone call or a mail item asking you to renew your Bassmasters Magazine.
Don't do it.
It is a retailer that is pushing the magazine for BASS and they could care less when your subscription expires.
Their prices are also out of sight.
I called BASS about it and the lady told me that my membership was good through 2017 and the marketing people were trying to extend my free subscription. She would not tell anyone at BASS about this ripoff.
Just a word to the wise.
I have called them at BASS a couple of times, and each time I have had my problem cleared up in no time.

I got this same call last evening. The caller claimed to be from Bass, but never said the full name Bass Anglers Sportsman Society. This guy spoke with a phony country Billy-Bob accent so thick it made my wife and I laugh out loud (I had the call on speaker-phone). He made one mistake in his sales pitch that told me he wasn't from B.A.S.S. and as I'm paid up until Feb of next year I declined his offer. If B.A.S.S. is allowing this as a marketing plan to increase subscribership they have reached a new low.

You are a lifesaver. I am so glad you posted and linked to that page.
Thank you guys for the replies, I figured the "goodies" wouldn't come for a bit but wasn't sure.
Also SAM: Good post/warning, that is such a useful bit of information to know.
Thanks again guys!

They arent from Bass, and have no affiliation with them. I get the mailers all the time, saying my membership can be renewed at whatever the rate is, always seems a little high. If you read the fine print at the bottom, it's a magazine sales company, not Bass. I almost fell for it the first time, I had to look at my magazine to see my membership end date, and then read the fine print. hey do this for all magazines, not just BASS. BASS won't stop it because they arent related, and it's legal.
If they call you, flat out ask them if they are BASS magazine, and they will tell you no, then tell them to hold on a minute, then hang up.

Thanks for that info, I will now only renew on-line at the B.A.S.S. web site.
When I tell people to hold on - I set the phone down and go do something else for a while.

Bass does send out renewal forms, but they always offer a discount plus free gifts, thats a sure way to tell it's legit.
BASS won't send you the goodies unless you pay in full, too.
Eric, if I want to get rid of the unwanted calls I scream into the phone, "Ahhhhhh! I spilled hot coffee on my balls!" and then hang up.
Would you believe one lady called me back to make sure I was OK?
Give it a try. It is funny and you can laugh at your joke after you hang up.

I'm waiting for my next call.

This is great, I needed a good laugh.
Sam, Its 6am here and Im holding my laughter so I dont wake my wife but I literally sounded like muttley the dog from the cartoons. oops Im showing my age...
It took me 6-8 weeks to get "the goodies" and after all that time I have to wonder if it was worth it. Not to be ungrateful, but i found myself to be disappointed. They advertise so much value in a payed membership, and i gotta wonder if its really there. I did the math and came up with less than 45 dollars in gear and there DVD, didn't calculate the hat or bag, but i wouldn't pay the remaining 55 for these items. The rest of the membership must be valued in the magazine subscription, and for 55 for 5 years i don't know what to think. Am i the only one who thinks this way? Sorry to say but i do feel like a sucker.
I'm still waiting on my from 3 weeks

Same here, been at least 3 weeks. I signed up online for the 5 year package, I have gotten 2 magazines, but nothing else. Didn't even get a confirmation email when signing up...they definitely could use some better correspondence work. I had to sign up for my club I joined, and wondered if the transaction went through since I got no confirmation.
I feel they need some customer service. I hate waiting on packages. They didn't send me an email or a phone call when I signed up so who knows....
It takes 6-8 weeks people. Calm down and wait a little longer!
It is definitely worth it if you plan on fishing BASS affiliated tournaments (or with affiliated clubs). Even without getting any gear from them it would be worth it.

I feel the same way; I would rather the keep all their free gifts (their not useful to me) and just let me pay for the magazine alone.
I signed up for one year of BASS magazine last fall, I sent in a money order. After a month or so I was wondering if they got my money order and all that. I called and a nice man answered and looked my account up and he told me when I should be getting my first issue and free gifts. Then he went ahead and gave me my account number so I could log into the digital Bassmaster magazine. That's the only time I've called and that one experience was pretty nice. The guy sounded American with a deep American accent.
One thing I always do when I sign up for magazine subscriptions - send a money order! I don't want to give any magazine subscription my credit/debit card numbers.
I have been getting letters in the mail from Bassmaster wanting me to renew for $15.00.
Y'all are doing it wrong. Wait wait wait until you are about to expire, they will give you a deal for like 10 or 12 bucks for 1 yr and a free tackle bag. The tackle bag ain't much but for a printed mag mailed to your house 12 bucks is a fair price. Just do a one yr. This is my third yr as a member, and the second yr renewing for under 15 bucks.
I had a lady at BASS tell me that my 2015 expiring subscription can be renewed for 3 years for $33.33. I told her I was going to hold off. Anyone else hear if this?
Also, spilling hot coffee on your balls would be bad. Lol
I let my 4yo grandson talk to the people who try to sell me stuff it's great to see how fast they hang up.
Also, if you tell them "the subscription is too expensive" and you don't want to renew, they say they have a "special" offer of like 50% off. Happened to me.
I've received my letter with info, card, sticker & patch. Box with hat, small tiptop bag and just got the 2014 Classic DVD 2-3 weeks ago. ALSO, about a week ago, I got a jerk bait and crank bait from fish hound for free (came with subscription as well). Also, 2-3 issues already.
Signed up for new membership via website back in January, around the classic time.
