Years ago I would have never thought I'd be saying this yet now in my mid forty's there is absolutely nothing in this world I would rather be doing then bass fishing from a boat. I do mean "NOTHING"!
So here's my question; should I seek phsycological help or is it normal to choose smelling like a garliced-up craw shad over anything else in this world?
No, you are perfectly fine. ;D
Is this your mid-life crisis?
If so, you picked a great one.
No, there is nothing wrong with you.
You are normal. It is the rest of the world that is all screwed up.

i don know i enjoy waking up beside my beautiful girl friend before sneaking off to go fishing, so i suppose ya'll are just going through the next step.
I think it is great to have a passion for something in life. I share your passion for fishing, specially if in competition. Just be careful not to let that passion cause you to neglect your responsibilties, or other people, in your life. So FISH-ON!!
This is the wrong place to ask those types of questions.
Ah, to have passion! There are, perhaps, things of greater or deeper philosophical significance but IMHO, there are few better things a person can ask for than to have passion for something. In agreement with BiggerWorm, there's nothing wrong with passion as long as one's other responsibilities are being met.
My passion is being deferred with the cold and the snow. Blech!
You think that's bad, try being a woman who only wants to fish. I ALWAYS keep a rod in my car and a tacklebox in my trunk, just in case. Often times I am late getting where I am supposed to be just because the water was calling my name when I was driving by. ;D
Nice to know I am not alone in feeling like that.
What's wrong with smelling like a garliced-up craw shad? Don't see nuthin wrong with that...until bass grow to be 200 pounds.

;D ;D ;D Welcome to the club!
In my younger years I had a saying:
FISH ON THE BRAIN ALL DAY ALL NIGHT,IN THE MIDDLE OF S_X IN THE MIDDLE OF A FIGHT, DREAMING EVERY SECOND OF THAT LINE STRIPPING BITE!
Things have changed a lot since then.........
I no longer fight! :-/ ;D ;D

INCOMING!!!
If this is your mid-life crisis, you are getting off cheap.
Most guys I know end up buying a sports car, get a young chic that bleeds every penny out of them, and then they end up getting divorced, and giving half of thier stuff away in court.
Compared to most obsessions in life (drugs, women, alcahol, gambling) fishing is pretty darn harmless.

;D ;D ;D Good one!
If you start to rub your wife or girlfriend down with garlic before sex then you may want to take some notice. Just try not to exceed more than 3 times per week, may cut into your fishing.

I resemble that remark
Eat , sleep and fish, no that aint right.
Sleep, eat and fish, no that's not right either.
Fish, eat, sleep and Fish, now that sounds more like it.

I'm there with you. Early 40's and until about 5 years ago fishing was something I did growing up - no interest in it at all. Didn't have time for it - too busy building my career and climbing the corporate ladder. Now, there is nothing I would rather do than be sitting on the bank tossing a rattle trap or a spinner.
No, there's nothing wrong with you. If anything, you're better.

Solid reply. There is nothing wrong with being passionate about something as long as you can keep it in perspective as it relates to other parts of your life.
I think we should schedule an intervention. My lake or yours?
