The following has transpired in the last couple of days. It seems as if the scammers are downsizing their attempts and going for local business.

Presently those dates are available. A full day rate, (8-hours), is $350.00. A ½ day rate, (4-hours), is $275.00. I don't have a 6-hour rate, but it would be the same as a full day. Thank you for your inquiry. If we can be of assistance for you we would be more than glad to.

Hello Sir/Ma,
Am Bob Wilson from Canada,I and my family(wife and son)will love to book for a fishing charter trip of 6 hrs/halfday for 2 days starting from the 27th-28th of April.Kindly get back to me with your rates so that we can proceed. This is my first time of taking my family on a fishing trip and I want it to be a memorable trip for them.Hoping to read from you soonest.

Well, it's hard for me to believe that people fall for some of these scams, but lots of people apparantly send thousands to Nigeria every year. Good catch George and thanks for the heads-up.
My latest reply to this numbskull:
I would also like this to be a memorable trip for you. The moment your check clears I will send on your monies less a 25% handling fee. Please be sure to include the handling fee for the total monies. It is customary to tip fishing guides and the usual is 25%, however you can make it larger if you desire.
There are a couple of issues here. I am now a Financial Planner, but was a Narcotics Investigator before. This could easily be money laudering. There are many ways criminal minds try to get money into the US. A "handling" fee to a money launderer would be acceptable. I arrange trips fishing on the side and have been contacted many times from overseas wanting to charge a trip. They in turn will want a refund in form of a check written on a US bank when something comes up. Be careful, you are right about them preying on the small business owners.
The minute I saw the part about him including his "agents fee' the red flag went up.
I love it when people say to me "All you gotta do is.............." It is one of the great sources of amusement in my life.
His mistake was that he picked a wiley ole veteran like yourself George.
I wonder how he would have fared with a new guy just starting out and hungry for business?
Well, this scam is understandable. You all know that we fishermen/women are just a bunch of dumb ol' hicks anyway, right? Who better to scam than us?
Good thread, George. The lengths these people will go to amazes me.
As always, George is a great source for information, even boyond the tangible realm of fishing. Its a sad state of affairs that we have to be on top of things like this, but with a watchdog like George Welcome the job is a little bit easier.
Congratulatons Mr. Welcome! I am pleased to inform you that you are the winner of the $1,000,000 prize for Stupid Ol' Redneck Fisherman Magazine's GUIDE OF THE YEAR. Alls you gotta do is send me a small processing fee of $1500 USD. Please PM me and I will send you the mailing address and contact info. Again, congratulations and good luck this fishing season!

Did anybody watch Dateline last week or maybe it was the week before last .... "To catch a scammer" or something like that. It was like their to catch a predeator series, but with scammers like this. My whole scam was much like this. It was great when they confronted the guy.

Saw the first show but missed the confrontation!
I am amazed at the lengths these SCUMMERS will go to!
I saw one a few weeks ago about a group of scammers that were cold calling old folks and pretending to be their grandchildren asking them to wire them money through Western Union...made me sick to my stomach.

I actually recorded this and just watched the second show with the confrontation last night. It's too bad it was in another country. I would have liked to see them bring in some Sopranos-like characters and beat the living s$%^ out of the guy.
That is just nuts. I feel bad for those that do get scammed.
At the last weigh in of the tournament cheaters will be banned from all future tournaments, have their boats and equipment confiscated and given to those they cheated, and then thrown in the lake - and the lake will be on fire.

Yeah my cousin did, and went to jail for trying to cash them.
This idiot Bob Wilson actually sent me check: drawn of the Frontenac Bank in Mo. What a nitwit. Of course the check is bogus although the bank is real. According to their personnel, they are on the hunt for this jerk.
Mr. Wilson read the post on these pages and actually told me he was disappointed and that my remarks were slanderous.
Well, as it turns out his sending me a bogus, fraudulent check is quite the series of crime. Mail Fraud and Forgery just to name a couple.
Pssttt George You Wanna buy a watch
two please
You just missed a great deal on a few Rolex's in the flea market!!
Slanderous,...funny. The extent some crumbs will go to......he sure is a stickler for the "never admit guilt" creedo
QuoteMr. Wilson read the post on these pages and actually told me he was disappointed and that my remarks were slanderous.
The truly unbelievable part, is that this sociopath no doubt really believes that you slandered him.
The fact that he is commiting multiple felonies has no bearing to him.
I mean after all George, don't you realize that even thieves have feelings? :'(
I'd tell him that....I am currently in the process of having this removed, however since it is not my name being discredited the moderator to this forum will need proof of Identification that you are the person directly affected by this post. I have to inform you that they will be including a processing fee. if you could please contact Al B. Screwed at BR he will inform you of all the details. This is the first time they have had to deal with such an issue and they hope that the kind help they provide and quick service will be a memorable one. Hoping to read from you soonest.
