I would love to go fishing today but this weather is terrible. It's raining all day and in the 40's. out of all the days this week, my off day is the coldest and nastiest.
Anyhow, just venting. Hope the rest of you catch a bunch!
These are the best days to fish. Fish bite better with the prefront and low pressure. An added bonus is the fair weather fishermen aren't sitting on your favorite spots.
I'm going to invest in some cold weather gear for fishing that is waterproof.
40's and rain?
Try 30's and snow flurries and then come talk to me. LOL
Me too! Weather is the same here in OK. I plan on doing a little bank beating Sunday. On 3/22/2013 at 11:53 PM, trailer said:I'm going to invest in some cold weather gear for fishing that is waterproof.
Welcome to my world. Low of 37 high of 44 with winds 18 to 28 out of the N/E and heavy showers.
Tomorrow's forecast:
High 49
Low 31
30% of rain
Winds WNW @ 25 to 35 mph, gusts up to 40mph
There, Speedbead. Get you some of that!
I'm saying that I'll be inside tomorrow.
They bite. just don't let the weather bother you. Here on my lake this lake the biggest bass come in some real cold conditions but the bite will be short and somewhat unpredictable. You can spend a lot of time just getting a few bites. I used to fish the winter but I cant anymore I do not have real good circulation to my hands anymore and if its in the lower 40's they turn to purplish white lumps within a hour or so even in light gloves you can fish with. But I would be out there if it was not for that.
I caught 8 today with a chatterbait. non to big but it is 42 and misting on Lake Fort Gibson today.

Neither one of you will get any sympathy from me lol. Current conditions for me are 16 degrees, 8 inches of snow since last night, and 30-40 mph winds that have the snow blowing sideways and drifting. Snow finally slowed down late this afternoon but it's supposed to start up again tomorrow. Oh yeah, we're looking at single digit lows for the next couple of nights too. Gotta love Spring time in Colorado.
My weather is GARBAGE!!!!!
Tournament on 3/30 and the reports are: Lake is nearly all mud, highest water temps were 46 (Highest! Not at launch)
What is going on? All winter, mild then "Spring" and we have had 4 snow events!!! What The He....ck!!!!????
I'd sell my soul for 47 degree water. The highest I found today was 39. Most was 36 - 37, with 6 - 10 inches of snow tonight and tomorrow.
Those guys that master dead sticking jerk baits still catch em, though. I hate 'em. The rulers in the club outlawed A-rigs, and you can't buy a fish on a jig or Wiggle Wart.
Our club derby today was won with 3 at 16.08 lbs. That's a pretty fair three fish bag.
I would love to see 40's and rain. My lake is still locked up end to end, side to side with ice. And it's been below freezing and snowing almost all week, and will be for another week according to the forecast. Last year at this time it was in the 70's and I had been on the water for 2 weeks already. March 12th to be exact, I would be surprised to be out there by April 12th this year. Such is life in WNY. I fully expect to not see another "early" spring like we had last year for a good long time.............if ever. It seems most years it's late March, early April, so were kind of right on track, if not a little behind. In the 6 previous years I have had my boat my first days on the water were:
2007: April 21st
2008: April: 4th
2009: March 26th
2010 March 24th
2011: April 6th
2012: March 12th
You dudes in snowland should be shooting something furry not fishing. Aren't there any coyotes that need a .22-250 in y'alls woods?
LOL, this time of year they are SKITTISH as all get out.
Oh, got 8-12 inches coming on Monday now! LMAO! This winter is never gonna end....
Be glad you guys can actually be out fishing now. I'm with ww2farmer here. River and lakes are still locked up with ice with snow to come tonight and tomorrow.
I have caught bass in the face of a heavy snow but never after it passes. One time on Stockton lake in Mo we caught 6 over 3 lbs on the face of a snow storm. I should have gotten out of there sooner I had a friends 12 yr old son with me. The wind came up real sudden and we were in a blizzard like snow. If any of you know about Stockton you know how real nasty the wind can be on that lake. There was nothing anywhere near us for shelter. We had to cross back about 1 mile to get back to the take out. I thank God the wind was coming from in back of us when we started. I surfed about 1 mile accoss that thing with Waves so high I could not see over them most of the time. When we got back I had over 3 inches of wet snow and slush in the bottom of the boat. Much more and we would have been to heavy to even surf well. I can still visualize that ride. I have never ever been so scared on the water.
I don't care what the weather is doing, I'll fish in rain/sleet/snow, but I need soft water to do it. My biggest fish of 2011 came in late October of that year with snow on the ground in the morning, and flurries in the air all afternoon.

Thats whats coming for me tomorow. Theres a blizzard headed in, but the fish were bitting today so I guess its time to break out the 4 wheel drive and go to the pond, or get a ticket to florida, stay in the condo, and catch something off the beach!

Yep I used to also but when you get into your 70's you might not be doing it anymore.
I'm close to 100 bass for the year so far.....

Me, too! Open water in the river means, if I get a chance to go, I'm gone, no matter what the weather is doing. This day was a high of 17 degrees on the day a major storm was rolling in, and the wind was over 20, water 39. We got 3 feet of snow that day. 40's is warm n' cozy!
looks like is not just Me that is at the door with the fishing gear ready waiting for the first chance on the weather. But the 30's and 40's are NOT helping!!! We have to love the North East.
For me its not the rain or the snow. It's the wind. If you don't have something on that can block the wind, you'll be miserable all day.
I hate the wind myself. I am happy I do have to go to work anymore and can be out anytime the.conditions feel right to me. That sure does make for a lot of advantages. Plus my boat and dock are only about 40ft from my easy easy chair.

Well that is what it takes and enjoy it as long as you can. If I would be out there even dressed as you are I could freeze with my poor circulation.
Yeah, I was still cold.
Hey, at least some of you can go fishing, despite the weather.
Our bass season doesn't open until mid-June. :-(
The water is still mostly hard here with some of it starting to break up. It snowed another couple of inches last night.
Woke up this morning in Central Oklahoma ready to go, walked outside and the Wind is gusting around 35mph @ 30 degrees. Went back in and went to sleep. Will be ready next off day though.

Central AR is no better. Gusts up to 40 mph. Good day to be on BassResource! My boat cover looks like an inflatable yard ornament.
nice weather here in St. Louis
glad some of you can get out their and fish in this, but i can hardly motivate myself to get out of the house.

Looks like our place right now. I honestly don't remember the last time it was above 30 degrees. We still have about 2 feet of ice on the lakes.
It was miserable this weekend on Lake DeGray, fishing was good but man I'm paying for that cold wind and rain with a nice cold today. Pre-fished all day in it Friday, my bilge pump was rolling all day.
Cold wet weather does not make you sick, thats a wives tale. Viruses make you sick so you more than likely got sick at work, a child of your own, touching a door in a public place... the weather didnt do it.

Must have been my fishing partner that got me sick then.
14 inches of snow one day... 2 days later 63 degrees out! gotta love Missouri
